Now that the code is available to everyone, including Iran and China, we can expect lots more problems, especially in the US and Israel. For some reason, most people can not grasp that once any technology appears anywhere on earth, it can rapidly be reverse engineered and then improved. The assumption that US and Israeli engineers are "magically" better is entirely FALSE. There are thousands of equal or better engineers in Iran, China and the rest of the countries on earth.
2. to #1 spyguy
Yanni   (12.30.11)
Don't entirely agree, most innovation coming from IL and USA, also some from UK and CH. But China - well, they are just copying technology same as the Japanese did before they ran out of gumption. And not to mention the Indians who are absolutely incapable of any innovation, clever as they are at maths.

4. #1 genius - stating the obvious
Observer ,   New York, NY   (12.30.11)
Isn't it always the case that innovation is done in the west and stolen by the east? The real genius staying few steps ahead .. Do you really think that whoever wrote the software don't have the mechanism to be protected itself from it? How about even giving it away to create a boomerang to its sender? Study the bible for many years maybe you will get what I mean.
5. #1 if Iranian engineers are so good,
GZLives   (12.30.11)
why is Iran so far behind ? Your argument makes little sense

9. #1: they didn't "break" the code: they got ---
EZRA ,   USA ISRAEL   (12.30.11)
In the gate to the massive compound And that was just a chain With a pad lock. Read the article more Clearly: they can't stop this thing now: it cloaks and disguises itself as typical program questions That r used all the time. It's ALOT more sophisticated than they expected and This one was created in 2007: they haven't been hit with it's new cousins yet which will go on for years, period. Basically: this virus gives over any And all sensitive info going through any Network Iran has (and DEFINITELY Russia, China & N. Korea. This is the Tip of the iceberg, nothing More.

graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (12.30.11)
Well put. Cyberwar from Iran and other liberated nations will soon help put an end to Zionism and US imperialism. Right on!

Good for you. May the best man win.
14. More than 5
Prof B ,   NYC, USA   (12.30.11)
Stuxnet is actually more than 5 viruses, in a way. each time it is deployed it is also meant to 'morph' into something new and attack a new place, is the best way to explain it. And this can go on foir many more times than 5. Think of it as the gift that keeps on giving.
15. US State Dept : "Iran starting to act irrationally ...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (12.30.11)
and lashing out". Probably due to the viruses, biting sanctions and other factors which will be slowly ratcheted up until Iran blinks first and fires the shot, ostensibly taking Israel off the hook.
16. dates?
Rachel   (12.30.11)
was it 2007 or 2008? they can't even agreen on that- as much as I mistrust Iran, at this point the US is not far behind. They can't save their own economy but are able to sabotage sophisticated computers on the other side of the world? I would not get too cocky. Since the infamous 'weapons of massdestruction' joke in Iraq... well...
17. Why is the Kaspersky co. still functioning?
jason white ,   afula, israel   (12.30.11)
They are aiding our enemy to destroy us. Why not order the Mossad to destroy them?
18. Vindicated!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.30.11)
... and it feels so good. I hate to say "I told you so," but I did, didn't I? Stuxnet, Duqu and their other cousins (you can pretty much count on the fact that it's a rather large family!) were not developed by some hacker trying to break ino a bank's computer. They are the result of years of research and application development. There is more to come. Much, much more.
19. Graczek - Cyber war is suicide
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (12.30.11)
Any dimwit, including yourself, should realize that those those designed the virus also created a cure for their own protection against it Israel will be here long after your remains have reverted to their original state, pure unadulterated shit
20. THERE IS MUCH MUCH MORE............#18
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (12.30.11)
To come in return as well,Sarah. It is not one-way traffic.
21. # 10
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (12.30.11)
Iran a liberated nation? Liberated from what? Don't you think they should tackle indoor plumbing and providing their liberated people with electricity before they put an end to us Zionists and Americans? You don't have to answer that graczek because your posts prove you are incapable of intelligent thought.
22. Actually, #12
Someone   (12.30.11)
That makes perfect sense. Code has to be compiled before it can be used, so the terminology is just fine.
23. #20
actionjack39 ,   Okmulgee, USA   (12.30.11)
When you say MUCH MUCH more do you mean when your invisible friend the Mahdi climbs out of his well?
24. @16 what does macro-economics have to do with hacking?
Joe ,   St Louis USA   (12.30.11)
Your statement makes no sense. Yes, America can't save it's economy (yet) but can sabotage computers on the other side if the world. Why's that hard to believe? And let's remember that America hasn't commented on these viruses. Most of the reports are coming from sources in Iran. Next time, maybe read the article.
25. #1 yeah your funny... a cursed iran is still cursed
(12.30.11)
26. YES,EAGLEBACK...............................#21
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (12.30.11)
All you have to remember is that it is not a one-way traffic. What cyberwarefare is will soon be known to you by the same Iranians. You mentioning about Mahdi is somewhat misplaced as his reappearance happens to be the relgious belief of all Shias and an idiot like you need not understand this belief.Nevertheless, when it comes down to the cyber attack,be prepared to scrible few words of acknowledgement.
27. #20 how would you know? You education was a big ...
waste of time ,   and money   (12.30.11)
You have become this fool who lurks Israeli newspaper sites to try and blast a woman you have never met named Sarah, because she uses her education to make you look like a fool. Oh that means she own your education cause you just have thrown it all away with your hatred of Jews and their G-D, who pulls on your jaw everyday reeling you in. poor mahmood what have you become!!!
28. #10 - those liberated countries do scare us
William ,   Israel   (12.30.11)
we're mostly terrified of the technology to come from "liberated" Somalia and "liberated" Gaza. Places that even the residents want to be "liberated" from.
29. To: No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (12.30.11)
What is Iran going to do? Lob a missile at Israel? Given the total disarray of all of Iran's computer systems and military command and control networks, it's a safe bet that Israel can turn it around and drop it on Teheran.
30. Mahmood # 26
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (12.30.11)
I made no mention of the Madhi in post # 21 and until now have made no mention of him in any other post. What I was talking about was indoor plumbing but I can see where it could be confusing trying to distinguish between toilets and the Madhi. It would be an easy mistake to make.
