31. #12 is 100% correct
tzila ,   Modiin, Israel   (01.01.12)
Think about it: the father of this boy pictured in the article is probably hardly out of his teens himself and because of studying in yeshiva for almost 2 decades has dangerously little to no rudimentary education and has now cowardly used his own son for spewing his ignorant message of hate - SHAMEFUL!
32. A tough call on this one
Robert ,   NY USA   (01.01.12)
If they mean it's like a Holocaust in Israel now, then they are way overboard and barely within the law. But, my ancestors were Chasidic, even Rabbis. And the economically poor ultra-Orthodox were most of the 6 million and all the other persecitions. They held Jewish identity together and are the reason for Israel today. Even if you are secular today, your ancestors probably were not. What would they think?
33. #2 Livni
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.01.12)
Livni will fade into oblivion. Even the American regime who supported her (remember the Time magazine prize she won?) has abandoned her. My guess is that the Haredi baiting is part of Lapid's campaign to seize power.
34. Role model Livni or parents
Martin ,   SA   (01.01.12)
When politicians attack our code of living parents need to respond in a way that children get the message. Unfortunately politicians are sensitive their example being subtly disregarded on what parents consider a redliner issues to remind themselves sons and daughter. For some eleven year it was OK to separate in a small villiage. Now an incident or two is considered so demeaning to that they The Liberal Women have show that carreer woman have full access and do not need guidlines or codes. not for them and not the people they are supposed to lead. Yes a degree of tollerance needs to be shown but this applies on both sides of the divide. Women and mothers have an importatnt standing and there comfort zone of separating is a spiritual educational choice. These women in no way feel undermined or limited to conform to the formula. A Chazoka of 11 years standing is now uncomfortable. People whom came to live in Beit Shemesh did so a the rules were suited to the way they wished to live rear their children. The interferanc of those whom have nothing to loose for the sake of an wanting feel good about themselves perhaps an ego trip do not consider the destruction they are perpetrating against longstading concerned parents. This destruction of bordersis done in world where liberalism undermines and exposes young children to undesirable role models. Livni and others have little to loose. The YELLOW STAR is their wake-up call. Our destruction is brought by unconcerned people where intermarriage and liberal living are the order of the day. The parents are justified underline the present interferance witha YELLOW STAR as threatening their core values, breaching their red liners. Live and let live plaese.
35. use of the star might be wrong but there is persecution
zionist forever   (01.01.12)
Maybe the use of a yellow star & certainly the striped pajamas were not the wasn't the right choice of symbols but either way haredi are being persecuted right now and always have been to a degree. Persecution of haredi has been a growing problem for a long time now in Israel. Long before the radicals who are currently making trouble haredi have been persecuted by seculars. They get condemned for everything from not serving in the IDF ( even though the law allows it ) to the way they dress, Seculars & haredi must learn to respect each other because a Jewish state cannot have Jews fighting against Jews because of their religious standards and culture.
36. Tom in Toronto # 12 . NOT OUR PEOPLE
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
They are not educated at all . Their behaviour has as a result that more and more sane people will reject religion , will be against ALL the charidim [ who did'nt speak out against them ]
37. #32: A tough call?
JDE ,   Boston, USA   (01.01.12)
They spit on little girls, calling them "slut" and "whore". They enforce segregation on public buses, and beat up women who resist - yet they claim to be persecuted! How is this a "tough call"? Seriously, grow up. Indulge your nostalgia elsewhere.
38. Zionist forever . Charidim persecuted ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
They don't serve in the army , by a law that was made when they were in a very small number . But today you have FAKE "students" , who misuse this law . They live at OUR expense . Criticising all this is not persecution . They try to impose their lifestyle on EVERYONE , and that's something we can't accept .
39. 36 Charles We Haredim do not hate..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.01.12)
all secular who did not speak out against the barbaric expulsion of our brothers from their homes, to give it to our enemies .For what?for wishful thinking.
40. Charles 38
(01.01.12)
Did Dafni Leef serve in the army? She wants us to subsidize her cappucino.
41. ORA , Leaving gaza was right
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
we don't need this territory , so people had'nt to speak out against this . Not even Egypt wanted this , they too knew that's not interesting at all . Did charidim speak out against the images of Rabin ZL in a ss uniform ? Or do their leaders speak out , publicly , against the behaviour of those extremists amongst them ? yes , they oppose violence but SUPPORT segregation .
42. Haredi Facism : send them back to Poland !!
steve ,   Vienna Austria   (01.01.12)
The Haredim should leave Israel if they do not support a civil society.Back to Poland or wherever, would be best and then those of us who respect Judaism, human beings and the State can continue to develop our country without the "mullahs".They do not work, avoid the army, get housing subsidies and other government handouts. These handouts to schnorrers should be stopped immediately. If they do not like mixed buses let them walk back to Poland or anywhere a long way from Israel.
43. A Lesson To Those Who Keep Insinuating The State Is Jewish
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (01.01.12)
B"H Don't push your luck. More and more people, religious and secular, understand who you are and what you are.
44. #25 WELL SAID!!!!
Mike ,   Raanana Israel   (01.01.12)
45. 41 Charles To the residents of
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.01.12)
Gush katif,it was not territory,it was THEIR HOMES and THEY NEEDED THEIR HOMES. If you had lived there you would think differently.
46. 42 And you Steve stay in Vienna.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.01.12)
47. Ariel , wse are the people who have build
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
most of this country , most of those who gave their blood for this country were SECULAR , if not antireligious JEWS . Your kind of "people" did NOTHING for our country , even opposed it .
48. to #41
lidia ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
The same old story about victimizers that all of a sudden become victims to support abhorrent behaviour!
49. Ora , it was their home , yes
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
but NATIONAL interests precede private one .
50. to # 48
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
My # 41 was a response . Nothing to do with victimisers .
51. Re: # 47
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (01.01.12)
B"H - What you are saying Charles is correct. Yet, as a man who sees the divine design in this world, I don't think there is much point in Jews willingly doing the anti-Torah thing on the Land of Israel. The whole purpose of Hashem linking us to this Land in the first place is to separate us from the goyim, so that we can "do" the Jews, that is to be His holy people. If we behave like the nations, this project loses significance and we might as well be in Uganda or where we came from. In short, Jewish nationalism makes sense only if it is Jewish. If it is just another nationalism, it is indeed useless and outmoded. I think that is at least one of the reasons why there is so much confusion.
52. Ariel 51 The divine design in the world ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
Were was this "divine design" during the Shoa ? He did not much to protect his "holy people" We are HERE in this country because of our HISTORY that links us to this place . Our presence here , thousands of years , can be lived "LIFE" in most of the places . You can live by Torah , but don't do it at our expense , don't try to impose your lifestyle on us . Has a Jew to be religious to be Jewish ? We can behave as all the nations and remain in a State for the Jews , not necessarely a religious one .
53. # 43
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
Your e mail address is from Italy & yet you give your place of residence as Kfar Tapuah. Efraim ??
54. 49 Charles Nobody could ever...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.01.12)
make me believe that ,by expelling "has vehalila"you and the other residents of Petah Tikva, causing so much grief to our own people, for the benefit of our enemies, is of national interest.
55. Ora , you compare apples with pears
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (01.01.12)
And you know it . It are two very different situations .
56. 55 Charles.You are right....but
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (01.02.12)
for hungry people it is about the same.
