31. Didnt some have the same ploy when evacuting Gaza?
meghan ,   israel   (01.01.12)
seems when things dont go their way they use the holocust for their demos! how low will they sink, lower than this...is there any lower. Those that dont regonise the state of Israel should leave, dont deserve the protection of the IDF or benefits from the state.
32. #21 Gili if the moderates go ahead and cut you off
Mike ,   Raanana Israel   (01.01.12)
Then what, will you let you children starve? or will you fight back and do something about your situation like maybe working. You dont have a life style, your world is dark and sad you deserve everything coming to you, your threats are worthless and frankly most in Israel have had enough of you.
33. Are Haredim still Spitting on 8 year old girls?.
Moshe ,   Brooklyn, USA   (01.01.12)
Are the Haredim still Spitting on 8 year old girls?.
34. Haredi Actions: Speechless? NO! Disgusting!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.01.12)
"Zionist persecution of haredim worse than what Nazis did" - Neturei Karta. Well, if the Zionists are "persecuting" you whu are you talking money from the Zionist State? Lieberman said : No Loyalty - No Citizenship" so let's add AND NO MONEY! Actually, this clash has been a long time in coming and if you want to blame someone for it then blame David Ben Gurion for the stupid electoral system he established for his "Socialist" State. Ben Gurion was too much of an idealist and did not take into consideration the natural traits of most human beings: Greed and Lust for Power! For 63 years Israelis have allowed a small minority of religious fanatics, Ashkenazi and Sephardi, to dictate and control our lives. Politicians call this the "Status Quo". Well, the question is how much longer the people of Israel are going to allow Israel to be a Theocracy disguised as a democracy? Those who still bury their heads in the sand and say that the Haredim only control small areas like Beit Shemesh, Meah Shearim, Bnei Brak and Zefat would do well to remember the words of Meir Porush, former Deputy Minister of Education, that the aim of the Haredim is to gain control of every town council and local authority in Israel. Time will tell and decide the future of Israel and Zionism and the Jewish People.
35. First step...
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (01.01.12)
Withdraw all services to these people - municipal, social, financial - te lot. Maybe they should go and live in Gaza where they would seem to blend in perfectly - the garb, the lethal indoctrination of children, the hatred towards the "zionist" state or any aspect of Zionism, and the distortion of the truth for their own twisted ends. As for dressing up children in concentration camp garb with the yellow star, that is child abuse pure and simple. Take their kids away and into care. In Germany there is a loaw against such incitement and hatred expressed publicy. Unfortunately, freedom of speech here in Israel seems to think it's ok. This community - and I mean only the extremists - have to be stopped right now.
36. Haredi shoah
Robert ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
I think time has come to formalize the Constitution for the State of Israel and that every person (jewish or not) that wants to keep the israeli nationality should pledge allegiance to the flag of Israel and to what it represents. Those who do not accept it could still live in Eretz Israel, but will not receive all the benefits a full israeli does. Part of Israel's problems are caused by the lack of a Constitution.
37. Zionist hypocrisy
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (01.01.12)
Political zionism has used and continues to use the imagery of the Holocaust to justify the disposession of the Palestinan people and the Nakba. The systematic nazification of Palestinian arab opposition against the Zionist landgrab is all part of this. The rage of the zionist regime against the harededim sounds to me utterly hypocritical.
38. #21 people like you
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (01.01.12)
It's people like you, gili, that give the whole of Haredi a fould name and turn seculars against you. So sure you way is the only way. You don't have to be religious, or should I say, a religious Jew, in order to be spiritually religious. A good person, no matter what race or creed, is just that - a good person, if they uphold the basic 10 commandments of respct, love, and refraining from evil deeds. No-one needs to pray 3 times a day, utter brachot for every action, avert their eyes from any woman not their wife or daughter, in order to have a religious spirit. There are many ways to love God. You have chosen yours; just let the rest of us get on and do things in our own way. You are dfinitely not 'holier than thou', but just a bigot.
39. if a cause is just and right; it doesn't need the holocaust.
Horatio ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
If these people were 100% sure that their behaviours are on the spot.... If these people were 100% sure that their cause was right, just and righteous... Then they would not need to rely on Holocaust symbols to drive their point home. Since they are using the holocaust symbols to defend their cause THEN THEY ARE 100% INSECURE ABOUT THE VIRTURE OF THEIR POSITION! (and shame on them for not realizing that!)
40. How can they?!?
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, israel   (01.01.12)
As the only survivor of a large family entirely lost in the Shoah I find this both painful and pitiful. They have forgotten the truth of the Nazi experience. Shame!
41. What I mean, #21
Vered, Israel   (01.01.12)
We are not asking you to "be like us". You have every right to practice your religion as you interpret it. I just don't want to fund it. What I meant by "moderating" as a result of having to work for a living like the rest of us, interacting with different kinds of people, is that you will learn to live and let live. This means, to cite a few examples from last week's news: I don't want that Dati Leumi girl to go to school here, but I won't spit on her. I don't drive on Shabbat, but I realize I live on a public street paid for by other people's tax money, so if others do drive, I won't throw rocks at them. I feel Israel is persecuting me for my beliefs, but I'll calm down before I portray it as if it is the torturous extermination of 6 million by the Nazis, offending those who really did live through the horrors. The fact that you consider not having my tax shekels as something to "fight back against" just shows how truly immature you are. Mature people knonw they must support themselves, but if they somehow do fall on hard times and must live off the public's welfare for a time being, they are at least grateful.
42. re Israel's lack of a Constitution...
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (01.01.12)
Would that be a Constitution (like for instance the Netherlands has), that spells out that ALL citizens, irrespective of skin colour, religion, ethnic background, gender, political and sexual persuasions etc. etc. are equal before the law?
43. # 22
Philip ,   Afula, Israel   (01.01.12)
Its about time that you realised that its not about left or right wing politics. These people must work, pay taxes and serve in the army like everybody else.Their children must also get the proper education that shall prepare them as useful members of the work force. What is so difficult about this?
44. Don't let tiny Naturei Karta fanatic gang divide Israel
Menachem ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
Nature Karta is a tiny extremist group of "Jews" who disgust the vast majority of Jews in Israel, Haredi and non-Haredi alike. Time has come to unite the House of Israel, and formalize a constitution which punishes traitors. Naturei Karta and their ilk should all be deported to Gaza where they belong.
45. the problem with naturei karta
pragmatist   (01.01.12)
and really any extreme group, is they don't stop at regulating their own lives. they feel the intense need to regulate everyone else's life. there's a constitution, rules of society. they are free to express themselves, but they're deplorable and morally bankrupt like any extremist group that preaches hate. they don't believe in the state of israel and really would do best as a sect in saudi arabia, where they can find hate of Jews rife in society and can feel right at home. they are not Jews.
46. They say we are nazis
Charles ,   Petachj Tikva   (01.01.12)
They don't know what this means , they have forgotten the SIX million of our Brethren who were murdered by those nazis . Shame on those disgusting "people" with this disgusting behaviour . They are not better as the antisemites who use the same words against us .
47. @21 ur lifestyle has changed!
(01.01.12)
I see you all using cellular phones, cars, refrigerators and all manner of other electronic comforts. Further your life style changed long ago...don't believe me? Ok then please do tell me exactly when we (Jews) wore fur hats to keep the sun away from our eyes? That was not in the ancient times in the desert that was in the 17th century and it started in Eastern Europe! So please don't try to persuade us that you are the same as we were in Biblical times!
48. sick, seperate reality
Ruth ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.01.12)
That's what we get for allowing them to seperate themselves from civilization and cultivate their own dogmas at our expense. And especially for allowing them to educate their children and themselves in seperate school systems. They don't know anything, but what their worped-minded Rabbies tell them. No connection to reality. Now the bubble they live in is bursting and their insanely currupted beliefs are spilling out, poisoning those who are tolerant. What now? I don't know. A monster was created.
49. There is nothing in the world worse than what the Nazi did.
(01.01.12)
Nothing.
50. Neturei Karta supported Ahmadinejad's Shoah denial
Yitzhak ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
Neturei Karta's leader participated in and supported Iran's Holocaust denial conference several years back. These people are utterly insane.
51. #39 Horatio
Devorah   (01.01.12)
I think you reasoned out a home run. It now seems so obvious that there would be no need for their cheap and offensive theatrics if they were 100% sure of themselves. Thanks, Horatio.
52. to Nº 42
Robert ,   Israel   (01.01.12)
For what I understand, you are talking about picking up a ready-made consitution from the one created for the Netherlands. My friend, Constitutions are specially "taylored-made" for each country and its necessities. The Netherland's constitution may be perfect for them, but WE have to implement OUR own. We can take dozens of Democratic countries' constitutions and extract the best part of each according to our needs and also take the best out of the Netherland's one.
53. Deserve
michael Pielet ,   israel   (01.01.12)
Haredi extremists and the Israeli media deserve each other. The media focuses on the haredim in order to get Israelies to vote their prejudices and not focus on the competence of their leaders to meet the threats of our muslim enemies.
54. to #49 communism did worse, 66 million
ghostq   (01.01.12)
minorities died by the hands of stalin alon. both extreame regim r dark and not needed.
55. STOP THE HATE
David ,   On this planet   (01.01.12)
The Seculars of Israel do not know that not all Haredi are Neiturei Karta. And I will say YES you do hate the Haredi population everyone of you by claiming they do not work , they live on your taxes, they are a burden on your life . You don't need to be part of their life or force them to follow yours. Get over it and let them be . Are they worse than the secular who do not want to be called Jewish in their ID.who cares? Their are nuts everywhere,STOP THE HATE
56. One way to get rid of NK
Sarah ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.01.12)
Israeli women should hold those "slut walks" on a regular basis in their neighborhood.
57. Why all the scandal now?
Boaz ,   Jerusalem   (01.01.12)
With all due respect for Peled and Weiss, why are they offended just now? Everyday, MKs of opposing parties call nazi to their opponents. The Holocaust is used for every personal and social cause. From Gush Katif (the same children with yellow star badges) to the infamous poster of Rabin dressed as an SS officer. It's offensive, but there's nothing new here.
58. #42 Ben Alofs - Your concern is touching
BENJABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.01.12)
Thre are a number of countries that function without Constitutions, including Arab, complain to them while you're at it Equality under the law, of course you're referring to Dhimmi's, and how they're to be treated as lesser people, the Arab way of doing things I suggest you research "DHIMMITUDE" Uncodified constitutions An uncodified constitution is one where not all elements are written into law: typically some elements, such as constitutional conventions, are not written into law, although such elements are almost always written down (perhaps across multiple documents and/or publications), although written in documents that are not enforceable in law. • Israel • New Zealand • Saudi Arabia (however, the Basic Law declares the Qur'an to be Constitution of Saudi Arabia) • United Kingdom Practice what you preach !!!!!
59. Anyone who thinks this is limited to a small section ...
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.01.12)
of the Haredi society has his head buried in the sand! This just another form of Religious Coercion and if it continues it will destroy Zionism, Israel and endanger Jews all over the world!
60. Ehud, I hope you're wrong about this leading to violence,.
Joan ,   Haifa   (01.01.12)
but after this yellow star/worse than the nazis chillul Hashem, noting would surprise me. This demonstration was deeply sick. You're certainly right that the haredim seem to have lost all touch with reality.
