Arctodus Simus ,   Fort Yukon-Alaska   (01.04.12)
The iranian dog is cornered, and reduced to its usual barking. A real power doesn't need to resort to threats, he acts.

4. iram\n's oil
joel ,   usa   (01.04.12)
the main problem with Iran is that it is using its oil to influence terrorism across the globe, OK? it is Iran which is at fault and must be punished, HA?
5. Iran won't let US aircraft carrier back into the Gulf either
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (01.04.12)
Everything Iranians, and Arabs in general say should be treated as hogwash. Remember the Gulf War when Iraq was being easily overwhelmed? Same nonsense, "We are winning the war and the American are in retreat". Tariq Aziz As US tanks rumbled into the square outside the palace.
6. Ban on purchase of Iranian oil
Spencer ,   Israel   (01.04.12)
Why not institute the ban NOW! What are they waiting for?
7. #6. I'd think that they want to wait until winter has passed
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.04.12)
People need oil to heat their houses oftentimes and so they wouldn't want to make procurement of heating oil too expensive for the average European. it would result in deaths by freezing and even worse (from the perspective of a politician whose party is in power), unhappy voters. Too bad Israel can't bail them out yet.
8. The Greasy question is which....
Gideon Reader   (01.04.12)
...of the slimey Euro-weenies will break the embargo (either overtly or covertly). Smart money says Germany with transhippments through turkey. With next best bet on France, through Tunis and or Morocco. Then there is Italy through Albania, or Lybia or even Malta, Cyprus or other access transhippment. And through supernumaries we have Belgium, Holland and everyone else rushing like their shorts were burning with white phosphorus. I give it anout two weeks at the outside. Take a number. place your bets ladies and gentlemen.

(IN ASIA.) , THE HUMAN RACE AND SO ON.: EU AND THE REST OF THE WESTERN WORLD, IN PRINCIPLE, IN THAT CASE, GRADUALLY, AT LAST, MIND YOUR OWN EU/WESTERN BUSINESS, WITHIN YOUR OWN WESTERN TERRITORY, WITH YOUR OWN WESTERN POPULATION. LET THE IRANIAN PEOPLE, EVERY OTHER COUNTRY/PEOPLE, AN INSTITUTION AS THE ENTIRE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED FOR SUCH A REASON SINCE/IN 1945AND THE ENTIRE FAMILY OF MANKIND DO THEIR WORK, WHAT IS NECESSARILY AND WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE USEFULL AND SO ON.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.04.12)
I'm not sure. It would depend a great deal on how much pressure can be brought to bear upon Saudi Arabia and Kuwait to increase production to make up for the loss of Iranian petroleum. The Saudis and the Kuwaitis are not terribly fond of Iran, and they have grown extremely comfortable having the U.S. Fifth Fleet watching their backs. Keep in mind as well that this would be a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade, with enforcement powers by all countries which sign on to the blockade. Truth be told, just the presence of the United States Navy would be sufficient to deter petroleum shipments out of Iran. Actually, if done by a consortium of nations, Iran will be crippled in a matter of months.

.......from deluded Israelis here why do you believe they should do anything to assist you? Why does Israel believe it is deserving of priority treatment from the world?

Gideon Reader   (01.05.12)
You young lady, NEED to get out more. Even the most serious situations; in fact the more serious the better, need to be made light of. Rest. Smoke a bottle of scotch. Sip a cigar. Sometimes the worst is funny when based on the stereotypes of the loathesome. If I wanted a serious analysis I would go to....me.
16. OIL
David ,   USA   (01.05.12)
Stop the oil from iran. Our price of oil just started going up at the pumps because of this joker in iran. However, shuting down iran is more important to the world.

alsky ,   toronto   (01.05.12)
maybe they are doing it because they understand the threat better than you ?

Where does Israel say it is deserving priority treatment from the rest of the world.Stop making things up.But having daid that, why not-best country in the world.Anyway Arab, crawl back to Gaza-or simply drop dead screwing your goat.
19. #14 Its NOTHING to do with Israel, Robert
Scott ,   QLD Australia   (01.05.12)
This is the EU mate, NOT Israel - they've decided that having a nuclear-equipped Iran is perhaps not in THEIR INTERESTS EITHER. Whether they actually implement anything is another story. I must say, your posts are very churlish; looking for anything that you can attach to "Jews and Israel" . DON'T WORRY ABOUT ISRAEL: BIGOT BY YOURSELF.
20. Sunnis are threatened by Iran. EU is helping them while
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (01.05.12)
they make up any shotfall from Iran. It is possible the Saudis are even offering a special deal
21. U Turn
zivron   (01.05.12)
Its time for Iran to.change to recognize and educate its people about the Jewish Holocaust the refusal of Islamic lands to take in even non zionists ultaorthodox Jews the restriction on Jewish escape to Palestine between 1936 to 1945 the refusal for Partition in 1937 more vital even than 1947.
22. Getting there.
Daniel ,   Tracy USA   (01.05.12)
This is a step in the right direction. I have a feeling having the allied arab league nations will pick up production to keep prices normal. China and Japan are the largest customers outside of the EU, and the US doesn't do much with them. Now if we could get Japan to go through other channels, and have china slow or stop excepting shipments that would cause them a major headache. Beyond that if the UN can implement removal of Iran's central bank like the US has then it would make it very hard for anyone to get money to Iran even if they did get their oil. They could also increase shipments to Russia, but if the Arab League agrees to an embargo on oil as well as the UN then Russia would have to abide by it. If they think they can attack or hinder shipping in the strait they will face the fifth fleet which would pretty much mop the floor or in this case sea bottom with their navy.
23. Your foreign minister last week said Europe is irrelevant...
Dovid ,   Los Angeles   (01.05.12)
Luckily the European nations are not as childish as Lieberman.
24. No. 14, with your daily insults against Israel on this forum
Marco ,   Spain   (01.05.12)
why would you expect Israel to come to your aid when you are in trouble?
25. Iran is pathetic
Robert ,   NY USA   (01.05.12)
All this to hold on to their bigotry of Jews having a tiny piece of land. Instead of recognising Israel and stop supporting terrorists, they rather go through all this. Going to war to have hate rallies and burn flags. And on top of that, the ones who really want to invade and steal their oil, they trade with, or wish to.
26. #14. Who says this has anything to do with Israel?
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.05.12)
This is about maintain access to ta vital resource for the West and your own country. Please realise that if the Iranians were able to gain hegemony over the area somehow, it would mean that they could start dictating terms to the rest of the World. It is important to put aside one's prejudices so that they do not become blind to truth.
27. None of the above 8-they will by from Russia
to 8 ,   WORLD   (01.05.12)
from Russia with love That will be their covert contact
28. Enough of the tail wagging the dog!
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (01.05.12)
This is the real weapon to cripple Iran. Even though the Russians and Chinese will continue to buy Iranian oil, this embargo will be crippling. Already, the Iranian currency saw a 12% drop, and additional sanctions will have a severe effect on the Iranian economy. Essentially, this is an economic WMD. Iran is nothing more than an oil field. They have little to show for themselves, other than perversions financed by oil. Once the money stops, the regime will dry up. No money, no nuclear research. No money, no weapons development. The math is simple.
29. Is this Regime INSANE?
Tim ,   Brighton   (01.05.12)
In recent interviews spokesmen for Ahmadinejad have said 'The Iranian people are 100% in support of our position and will freely give their lives in defence of our rights' 'They will happily endure all hardships imposed by evil outside forces and sacrfice everything to protect the Islamic Revolution' 'Even if we are reduced to dire poverty and we are on our last crust of bread this will not break the will of the Iranian nation'
30. @ #8 Greasy Gideon & Sarah B.
Iranian Jew ,   LA   (01.05.12)
You asked a greasy question, and you got one from Sarah B. If you don’t want to hear comments or answers then you should not bother to read nor post your opinions here. I don’t see anyone requesting Gideon’s opinion on this post. Do You Sarah? All you can do is come up with a lousy insult to Sarah? Boy, you sure told her!!!! I guess you need to smoke a blunt and chill a little. Your opinions are just too valuable. Please just keep them to yourself. Or here is an idea; Keep quite!!!
