1. As fullsome as the traditional.....
Gideon Reader   (01.05.12)
....Christmas Turkey. This dictatorial clown is sitting in a bathtub, slappint the surface and wondering when the Surf will be up. He (ZerO) is as knowledgable regarding defense issues as Putz Peretz was.
2. Obama
Georgie ,   Canada   (01.05.12)
Obama, stalls on Iran and gives away top notch drone, ignores Syria, empowers Benghazi AQ and Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, outwardly hates Israel and kisses Sarkozy derriere. More holidays golfing Hawaii, grandma living in the white house and now planning to scale back the military. Great progress with Mcjobs and the wall street fat cat economy, outspoken supporter of OWS middle class sub prime victims? More walmarts raising more funds for China's million man army, hope and change you couldn't believe in coming this election. Four more years. American Jews vote four more years + 67 lines.
3.  I'm not an expert. So...
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.05.12)
what's he saying we're going to do? Focus on small-task elite forces rather than a grand standing army? Is that what he means by an emphasis on counter terrorism? Anyone feel they have a good idea of what he's on about?
4. OK, mr. President, if you say so...
Shaul R   (01.05.12)
and why not? After all, you already received a Nobel peace prize after just a couple of weeks in the office, simply for adopting a posture...a rhetorical posture is all it takes, no grounding in reality necessary..and in any case, reality is what Mr. President says it is...a truly post-modern leader, indeed...
5. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THE REST OF MANKIND AND SO ON.
A WONDER(SJOERD R.) ,   MULTIVERSE   (01.05.12)
THE PRESENT AMERICAN REPRESENTATION/PARLIAMENT AND THE PRESENT AMERICAN ADMINISTRATION ALSO HAVE TO TAKE NOTICE OF THE REST OF THE FAMILY OF MANKIND (ESPECIALLY SINCE 1945.).
6. Romney or Gingrich will change that
Ezra ,   USA   (01.05.12)
The US economy has rebounded enough in vital sectors to make up for any cut backs. Our technology is in a new realm that requires less bulk anyhow: we're now able to stop things before they turn into an Iran (another failure of the democrats). Obama must go: he's destroyed too much of our nations integrity and profile

Some deep, heavy irony.

Moisha Kapoir ,   Nanuet USA   (01.06.12)
Mr Obama have you forgotten what you said in Cairo, that the U.S. is an "Arrogant Nation". You have succeeded in giving away the Middle East and North Africa to the Muslim Brotherhood. Now you are dismantling our Armed Forces. For Shame.
12. its the IDF who need to worry not the US military
zionist forever   (01.06.12)
Even on Obama's watch the US is so powerful already it couldn't be knocked off the top slot by anybody anytime soon. Its Israel that needs to worry about staying on top staying on top in the ME and not repeating the pre Lebanon mistakes when the army didn't wonder how much of an increase they were going to get but how much would it be decreased by. Cutbacks were the name of the game since oslo when we were all led to believe we wouldn't need an army anymore because we will have peace with all our neighbors. Thanks to Daphne Leef wanting her Tel Aviv penthouse it looks like we will repeat the mistakes of Lebanon and then when the next war goes badly wrong we will set up another commission into what went wrong and then start looking for scapegoats. Barak has bought some new toys but the IDF needs much more to make up for years of neglect. The navy especially is massively underfunded and its surface fleet is vastly in need of modernization especially with Egypt having a bigger and more modern army and it being run by the MB, Iran wants to expand its naval activities and we have no idea what Assad's successor will be like. The army are not getting all the things they need. The air force are talking about making the intial batch of 20 F35s which are being paid for by military aid the only ones we get and instead buy more F16s because they are cheaper. The politicians want the next war to be 1967 rather than Lebanon but they don't want to pay for it.

16. Obama is cutting military personel.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.06.12)
He just stated that he was going to do it today. Another words....he isn't going to go to war with anyone. He is a pacifist. Israel might as well plan on dealing with Iran on its own....... Obama isn't going to do anything to stop Iran. He is a paper tiger....all talk....no action. When all is said and done....the dismantling of the United States military.....will make the world a more dangerous place....with nuclear weapons more likely to be used, rather than ground forces....that are non-existant.
17. America is bankrupt. It borrows money from China to pay
Al   (01.06.12)
the welfare bills. Its the end for America.
18. Congressional Deal
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (01.06.12)
Last August, Congress made a deal to cut the US budget. That included a 10% reduction in the Defense budget. And after all these cuts, the US will still spend more on Defense than the next 10 countries. Are those opposed to the deal willing to fork over a few extra thousand, or hundred thousand, in taxes annually to keep up the current force level? The US has 12 carriers and 2 more in construction. Do we need more? The US just finished a 9 year occupation of Iraq. We are negotiating to exit Afghanistan, too. Why does the US need those extra troops when we still have a draft infrastructure if attacked? We could ramp up then. Steven Wilson, @16, there is still room for you to join up. My daughter could always use willing recruits if you've got what it takes to make it in the service. Or if you're really interested in ground pounding, the Marines and the Army are still going to be recruiting. A few 20 year people will be retiring before 30, that's all. You still have time to get in on Afghanistan if you hurry.
19. Could the jihadists ever hoped for one of
jason white ,   afula, israel   (01.06.12)
their own to weaken the U.S. and the west both financially and militarily so? b.o. is the equal of a million man terrorist army invading the U.S. The jihad is closing in on victory and will succeed if b.o. is reelected next year. We will all be dead, converted to islam or dhimimis. What good is it if you have the best weapons in the world, but no one to use them? And how smart is it to sell the arab enemies the best weapons and weapon systems?
20. 18# I was there. I was one of the people who joined in 1980
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.06.12)
and was waiting with the 3rd Battalion 9th Marine Corps Division. 0351 Anti Tank Assault....as well as a platoon sniper. The only reason they wouldn't send me to sniper school was because I wore glasses. We were staged and ready to go to Iran from the Island of Okinawa Japan. We had already gone to Tinian, in the Mariana's Island chain....to practice taking the airstrip in December. They launched the bombing of Japan from Tinian. We were going to go and take the international airport in Tehran.... then control it for the evacuation of the hostages. I've already been there...and done that. The hostages were released when President Ronald Reagan took over as President of the United States. As soon as Reagan stepped into office....Iran released the hostages. Iran knew we were coming....they released the hostages. That's why you keep your ground troops. Where were you during the period...may I ask.
21. 20 - Too Old and Fat by 80
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (01.06.12)
Just starting a family in Chicago. So your kids could do now. The mess at Desert one was a learning experience in how not to do joint operations. Holding the Teheran Airport would have been a waste of troops since the US people were scattered after the mess at Desert one. Do write to Congress and tell them. They want machined and fewer people. They also think that the F-35 is a magic bullet and that Marine amphib attack vehicles don't need to be IED proof. And having those is more important than people,. Too many contractors design too much high cont stuff that doesn't work
22. #5 AND SO DO YOU AND SO ON
Phil ,   Ireland   (01.06.12)
As if the "rest of mankind" was ever united before or after 1945!!!
23. #5 SJOERD
solomon ,   bklyn   (01.06.12)
NO SJOERD, IT’S YOU THAT HAS TO TAKE NOTICE OF ALL MANKIND. YOUR VISION RIGHT NOW IS MYOPIC AT BEST.
24. 21# Who said I'm 80.....Who said I'm fat???
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.09.12)
It sounds like you have a problem with racism to me. Do you run around pinching peoples bellies telling them they just don't look skinny enough. Do you run around knocking geriatric ex military people down, because they are just to old to put up with??? Maybe you should beat up my 75 year old father as well. The military doesn't need to be shredded because Obama is a pacifist. He doesn't care about anything but his golf game. He puts on an act with military personel. Why does your daughter need a new fortified military vehicle anyways....she sits in an office and begs other people to go to war. She's not in any danger. Where were you ...I repeat? Did you even have the guts to join the military... while you complain and whine about weapons systems???
25. 21# Ronald Reagan didn't care about what Jimmy Carter messed
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.09.12)
up during his joint operation. He was sending us into Iran whether you ...or all the people in the United States, liked it or not. You don't know what you are talking about. The new commander and chief was sending in the troops. I was there...and I was the one being told that I couldn't call home and couldn't tell my family that we were going to be deployed to take an airstrip in Iran. Get a clue.....do you really think Iran gave up the hostages because Peanut Butter was going out of office?
