But have you heard : The Scorpion and the Frog A scorpion and a frog meet on the bank of a stream and the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across on its back. The frog asks, "How do I know you won't sting me?" The scorpion says, "Because if I do, I will die too." The frog is satisfied, and they set out, but in midstream, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog feels the onset of paralysis and starts to sink, knowing they both will drown, but has just enough time to asp "Why?" Replies the scorpion: "Its my nature..." (Who does that remind me of?)

7. Egypt Keeping Peace Treaty
Adam ,   UK   (01.06.12)
It insults anyone's intelligence to think that once the reigns are in full control the MB and Egypt achieves a modicum of financial security the 1979 agreement will not be flouted. Due to the connection between Hamas and the MB This agreement is really now the litmus test for Israels future talks with the Palestinians and I guess very little will be done until it can be seen how the MB behaves.

I already know Egypt will not dispense with the Camp David Peace Treaty no matter who or which political party comes to power as much as I know for sure Mubarak will NOT be hanged or executed under any circumstances . It's only common sense and logical thinking that guide me to this conclusion and certitude. I know Egyptians live in a house of glass and will not throw stones at it . Whatever fiery or provocatice statements they make is only for local consumption .

19. Simply put.....
Yaron ,   USA   (01.06.12)
don't honor the peace treaty than Israel takes back the Sinai. It is afterall only fair given the land for peace formula that seems to work out so well.
20. Egypt needs the Peace Treaty more than Israel!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.06.12)
Egypt needs US aid and MONEY and cannot risk messing up their economy further! Also, if the NutJob in Iran fires missiles at Israel, well some might just overshoot, with a little help of course, and hit Gaza City, Alexandria and Cairo! Also, Egypt has two very "soft" targets - the Upper and Lower Aswan Dams. Golda refused to hit them but times have changed and Israel's survival is in bigger danger than even! We cannot rely on the USA with Obama in the White House nor on the EU in the case of conflict and we will have to look after ourselves. I am sure the Egyptians know this only too well.
21. Lesson herein for the West....
Steven Gilbert ,   Teaneck   (01.06.12)
Muslims, when signing treaties, do not consider their word binding. This is rooted in Islam when Mohammed made made peace treaties for convenience. After gaining sufficient strength, these treaties were cast aside and their peace partners slaughtered in the name of Islam. Westerners, take notice!
22. No. 17, and in March it was "only" 25%
Marco ,   Spain   (01.06.12)
Now the Brotherhood is at 45% and their even more radical brothers are at 25% for a combined 70% of Egyptians voted for Sharia law and ending the Peace treaty with Israel.
23. does Israel honor a peace treaty
observer ,   Egypt   (01.06.12)
It's in the permeable and body of the treaty that Israel has to talk with the Palestinian and Syrians according to the UNSCR 242, what advances has Israel had in that respect? nothing. Secondly in the treaty, Both Egypt and Israel has to limit their military presence on BOTH sides of the border, which Israel hasn't given a damn to. The Peace Treaty states clearly that One of the two Parties can request amendment to the treaty, it is time for Egypt to submit that request.
24. #20 David, question of targets
observer ,   Egypt   (01.06.12)
The Peace Treaty states clearly that One of the two Parties can request amendment to the treaty, it is time for Egypt to submit that request. Let's see if Israel would risk bombing the High Dam with nukes, if Egypt opted to strike Dimona which is already on the list of targets by medium- and long-rang rockets.
25. pfft. The US is now the spokesman for the MB? NOT LIKELY.
Zvi   (01.06.12)
26. No24.Only reason Egypt could want change is to rekindle wars
Alan ,   SA   (01.06.12)
This is totaly along the lines and aims of the temporary HUDNAS that Mohammed used against the tribes of Medina or Makka (?Qureshi)
27. Assurances
New Yorkers ,   U.S.A.   (01.06.12)
What was it about endless Hitler's assurances that made them so memorable even today, for those with brains enough to appreciate history and learn its lessons?
28. That's interesting mr. gibert
bobblehead dentan ,   lalaland   (01.06.12)
It would seem that in fact Muslims do not honor peace treaties, as Muhammad did not..."grandmother what big eyes you have"...."Come a bit closer dearie, granny can't see quite so well......" Israel can and needs to be ready to send em all back to over to Hades where they belong.
29. #26 while Israel is working on war
observer ,   Egypt   (01.06.12)
It's in the permeable and body of the treaty that Israel has to talk with the Palestinian and Syrians according to the UNSCR 242, what advances has Israel had in that respect? nothing. Secondly in the treaty, Both Egypt and Israel has to limit their military presence on BOTH sides of the border, which Israel hasn't given a damn to. The first part or preamble was a framework for negotiations to establish an autonomous self-governing authority in the West Bank and the Gaza strip and to fully implement SC 242. The Accords recognized the "legitimate rights of the Palestinian people", guaranteeing the full autonomy of the people within a period of five years. Egypt guarantees of freedom of passage through the Suez Canal and Straits of Tiran. Israel agreed to limit its forces to a distance of 3 km from the Egyptian border, and to guarantee free passage between Egypt and Jordan. What does Israel lose if Egypt annuls the treaty is the free passage in Suez Canal and Tiran straits, both are sovereign Egypt's territories.
