2. we didn't promise anything
tiki ,   belgium   (01.07.12)
Why play this cat/mouse game with lying, fanatic, Jew-hating Islamists. Israel should take back Sinai and than negotiate with whoever wants 'real peace.
3. Obama, Clinton, Nuland....
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (01.07.12)
how's that much-touted Arab Spring working for you? Not a spring forward into democracy. A spring backwards into the 7th century. Sad - the Egyptians had almost made it into the 16th century!

Ali ,   October 6 City.Egypt   (01.07.12)
Tzipi Livni or even Netenyaho to dare to declare wan on Gaza or Lebnon from Cairo. 1979 peace deal is not fair. Egyptians want to build homes and lifes in our beloved land of Sinai. We destroyed the Parlef Line and Sinai was liberated just to left deserted? Israelis will have to accept that Egyptians build Sinai Peninsula and few other changes to the treaty if they want peace.

12. #1: how quickly man forgets...
Rafi ,   US   (01.07.12)
There has been almost no bloodshed between Egypt & Israel for 30 years... However Egypt suffered GRIEVOUSLY during the 1967 Six Day War, the 1968-70 War of Attrition and finally during the 1973 Yom Kippur (October) War.... losing 10,000's of its soldiers and sons, not to speak of resources. These legacies were among the reasons that Egypt and Israel signed a peace treaty in 1978. The population of Egypt today is overwhelmingly young, under 25 yrs of age. Are you totally unaware or have you forgotten the consequences of war? Perhaps you should take time and speak with your grandparents and older neighbors. Ask them how much "fun" their experience in Sinai and along the Suez was...
13. @9 Who is stopping you building homes in your"beloved"Sinai?
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (01.07.12)
Your brothers blow up your resorts but you can never look yourselves in the mirror you always have to blame others. How is the persecution and murder of Copts going in the new Egypt?
14. They will end up with no food. Tourism is down to ZERO.
Dudu ,   Eilat   (01.07.12)
15. Get real .
Aly ,   Cairo   (01.07.12)
The total disagreement with Israel's policys and practises in the area is the only thing that ALL Egyptians have in comen . Fanatics , conservatives , leberals and what we call ' silent majority ' all have the same view . So does 99% of the planet . Vitoes DO NOT last forever .
16. Egypt and the peace treaty
NYC Girl   (01.07.12)
Anybody in the Obama administration who didn't see this coming a mile away is an idiot. Not only that, but no doubt whoever spoke the reassuring words to the State Department, spoke them in English. Of course, that's the problem. English is the language for lying to naive western audiences, while Arabic is the language in which they reveal their real intentions to their followers. But one would have thought the State Dept. would be aware of that trick by now.

18. 1.Your Finance Minister was crying on TV. Get used to it!
Alan ,   SA   (01.07.12)
19. Who cares if the "New Egypt" is friends with Israel?
JL ,   NYC   (01.07.12)
Who cares? They can lose all foreign aid from America. Have an enemy adjacent to it capable of blowing them to kingdom come -- again. After all, the Old Egypt liked to lose wars to Israel, maybe the New Egypt will too. Good luck feeding your people, too, New Egypt, because you've lost all tourism dollars. A place where women are separated from men, forced to cover up, and have acid thrown in their faces for flashing an ankle is not exactly a hot tourist spot.
20. "Nothing Is Binding!"
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (01.07.12)
Neither is U.S. aid to your cesspool of a country. Go and ask the Russians and Chinese for handouts to support your primitive doctrine of violence and hate.
21. #11 Mubarak is gone, haven't you heard?
Nour ,   One-State   (01.07.12)
The shackles are gone, fear is gone, collective will and power has arrived. You will be dealt with - by free Arabs this time - no longer the slaves of America. Get ready to live in peace - or leave.
22. That's ok we'll just take back Sinai
Marco   (01.07.12)
A little smuggler clean up and it'll be good as new. The way Egypt is treating it, they don't seem to value it very much.
23. watch barak offer more concessions
alexi   (01.07.12)
ehud barak, the ehud olmert of the idf is looking at brotherhood statements in egypt and is sweating. He will soon offer more concessions out of fear since he has never done well leading israel in major land battles. Barak has to be replaced by yaalon or he will try to appease the erdogans of egypt. Do you remember that he was offering apologies to erdogan for turks smashing commandos with pipes and axes after barak underequipped them with paintball guns. egypt has as much to lose as israel is it engages in war preps and war and that should be israel's calm positions. I am not bibi who for whatever reason attaches himself foolishly to barak who has no consituency in israel, zero.
24. The New Sinai
Pagael ,   UK   (01.07.12)
If, the Muslim Brotherhood taking the mandate of the Egyptian people tear up their peace agreement with Israel... The Sinai will become Israel's and an unwarranted war will ensue, with much death on both sides... what benefit is this for Egypt?
25. The Young Egyptian Generation
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (01.07.12)
It seems it is going to be painful dealing with those post-Camp David Egyptian adolescents ! It looks like they are - unknowingly - playing with fire... Some wise Egyptian " old guards " had better educate them about their past and present relations with Israel and America- before it is too late for them...!
26. You don't have to be friends with Israel
Isac   (01.07.12)
it's your loss. However, if you Islamists are thinking about getting for war with Israel be ready to become like the ancient Egyptians. Waste in the sea.
27. Obama stop military aid to Egypt now
zionist forever   (01.07.12)
We don't know what this new islamist government is going to be like so the US should end the military aid to Egypt now and not deliver all the weapons that Obama agreed to sell to Egypt. How do we know these American weapons won't fall into the hands of terrorists or even be used against Israel in a conventional war? The US should also refuse all financial aid unless the MB gives a written guarantee that they will honor the peace treaty in full and fight terror. Lets see what they want more American money even if it means a humiliating climb down on all the tough talk or does ideology come first money second in which case we will know exactly what we are dealing with.
28. Consequences
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.07.12)
For every action there are consequences. For Egypt to refute the Camp David Accords means that you will lose $2.8 billion a year in aid, at a time when you can't even feed your own population and our economy is going in the toilet. As for the Sinai - well the US is required to aid us in the return of the land that we gave up for peace - that too is required under the treaty. Now exactly how much is that worth to you Egypt? You are a two flea bit raghead country without anything but starving racist morons against two of the most powerful countries in the world.
29. Protocols
Zivron   (01.07.12)
IF THEY VIOLATE THE PROTOCOLS THE GAZAN ARABS WILL HAVE TO GO TO EYGPT AS ISRAEL SECURES THE SINAI TO THE NILE WITH ITS NEW ALLIES.
30. #21
JL ,   NYC   (01.08.12)
LOLOL. Free Arabs? The MB will make you yearn for the cages Mubarak had you in. Learn to fight a war. Learn to read. Learn a profession other than martyrdom. Until then you're cavemen. I pray that you attack Israel so that you will learn what a real defense force looks like.
