1. Finally
jensen99 ,   Hollandia, Indonesia   (01.07.12)
Oh, so finally the Israelis realized that West Bank is belong to them? Good. But still its not good enough to only justify it by holding your Bible. There are tons of historical facts out there. use it wisely.
2. Mark Twain wrote:
Devorah   (01.07.12)
"If the statistics are right, the Jews constitute but one per cent of the human race. It suggests a nebulous dim puff of star dust lost in the blaze of the Milky Way. Properly the Jew ought hardly to be heard of; but he is heard of. He is as prominent on the planet as any other people, and his commercial importance is extravagantly out of proportion to the smallness of his bulk. His contributions to the world's list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine . . . are also way out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers. He has made a marvelous fight in this world, in all the ages; and has done it with his hands tied behind him. He could be vain of himself, and be excused for it. The Egyptian, the Babylonian and the Persian rose, filled the planet with sound and splendour, then faded to dream-stuff and passed away; the Greek and the Roman followed, and made a vast noise, and they are gone; other peoples have sprung up and held their torch high for a time, but it burned out, and they sit in twilight now, or have vanished. The Jew saw them all beat them all, and is now what he always was, exhibiting no decadence, no infirmities of age, no weakening of parts, no slowing of his energies, no dulling of his alert and aggressive mind. All things are mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?" Israel is our land by Divine Right, and no one - I mean NO ONE - can destroy that which G-D has willed for His chosen.
3. This is My Homeland Too
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (01.07.12)
I am Palestinian Arab . I was born and raised in East Jerusalem in the fifties when Jordan was ruling here . This is my hometown . This is my homeland too . I have the UNRWA Plestinian refugee card and staus !
4. Yes, Yes, Yes . . . A Thousand Times Yes.
B.E. ,   Whangarei, NZ   (01.07.12)
5. They don't believe your interpretation of the bible
David Appletree ,   NYC, USA   (01.07.12)
and some don't believe in your bible at all.. what do they care what your bible says or how you interpret/misinterpret it to suit your political aims ?
6. I don't know and don't care what the Bible has to say about
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.07.12)
this issue. Too long ago&probably not all that true either. Since I don't believe in the Imaginary Friend of the banana-nosed People I couldn't care less if he "gave" us this land or not. This argument doesn't sit well with the world-public anyhow. No Higher Instance has given France to the French , Germany to the Germans or present day Poland to the Polish people, so I do not need that excuse either. (Not to mention the land the English grabbed from the Native Americans) We have some historical rights to this swath of property and right now we're in a middle of a simple border- war with the Arabs, that do not wish to grant us that privilege. That's it. I plan to win this war. The fact, that the Islamic hordes want to dominate the rest of this planet makes it only simpler for us. Pity that the latent antisemitism of Europe & Gentile Society at large makes this adifficult undertaking.
7. Israel is our land
Sam M ,   UK   (01.07.12)
Read your bible! Read history! This should be the response and the guts to state publicly that the palestinian case is fraudulent and merely a political tool to try to achieve what the arab military attempt to destroy Israel failed to do. Israeli politicians are the best allies the arabs could hope for. They have relinquished the Jewish claim to key parts of The Land of Israel. It's time this claim was resurrected by a new political generation with the moral courage to do so.
8. Finally show some guts and dare to speak
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (01.07.12)
up: Judea and Samaria ARE Israel ! And not only a part of it, but the WHOLE of it ! The Arab squatters have NO right to this land...!
9. They'll answer "the bible is too old"
halloof ,   ottawa, canada   (01.07.12)
That's too weak an argument. We need to show that the Jewish presence on the land has been continuous.
10. Because the land is not yours, never was
Nour ,   One-State   (01.07.12)
11. God has never been a real estate agent.
Jainie   (01.07.12)
12. The Land of Israel.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (01.07.12)
We, conscious and democrat citizens of the world, do agree that the Land of Israel belong to Jewish people, including Jerusalem. But there is a problem. If all West Bank is annexed, Israel will have a large Muslim Arab population into her territory. Their full citizenship, of course, can not be denied, and you will have a "mixed State". Hence, and on being in fact impossible sending them to Jordan, I don't see any option but accepting a neighbor Palestinian State, since she is demilitarized and separated through new frontiers that do not endanger Israelian security. I know it is difficult; nevertheless, out of it, the stalemate will never be ended. I salute you again.
13. I Don't Believe in the Bible
Amir ,   Yaffa, Palestine   (01.07.12)
14. To #3
Prof B ,   NYC, USA   (01.07.12)
While you may have been born in E. Jerusalem, you were born in Jordanian land of the time and thus, you are a JORDANIAN. You have just proven what we Jews already know and are telling the world: the Arabs who falsely call themselves 'Palestinian' are actually mostly Jordanians. There was NO SUCH THING as 'Palestinian' when you were born. Don't make trouble or go back to your country of national origin!
15. Your own courts say you don't own the West Bank
John R ,   NYC USA   (01.07.12)
Israel’s own courts, in multiple rulings, state it is an occupying power in the West Bank including a June 2005 ruling upholding the constitutionality of the Gaza disengagement. In that ruling the Israeli High Court determined: “Judea and Samaria [West Bank] and the Gaza area are lands seized during warfare, and are NOT part of Israel. The Judea and Samaria areas are held by the State of Israel in belligerent occupation.” The ruling further states, like the May 30, 2004 ruling that preceded it, that these areas must be governed under international NOT Israeli law.(ie: the Geneva Convention) Try respecting international law instead of creating world wide anti-Semitism.
16. Shamir was the only PM that said this is Israel's land
Dan Kelso   (01.07.12)
Every PM since Shamir in 92 has basically said what Naftali Bennett said in his article. Israel needs a PM like Shamir. But is their someone out there like Shamir that can win the PM? Livni is a joke and I call her Miss Surrender.
17. Agreed.
nibor ,   israel   (01.07.12)
Saying "It is mine" trumps all.
18. #10
Sam M ,   UK   (01.07.12)
The truth is your're no more than arabs who migrated from neighbouring arab states to palestine to take advantage of the economic upturn a result of the return of many Jews to their historical homeland and the prosperity that resulted. You have no distinct linguistic, cultural or ethnic attributes which set you apart from your arab brethren. In addition there is absolutely no historical record to support your fraudulent case which is why you only mouth empty platitudes and provide no supporting evidence. See below for a quote (and there are many more easily found on the internet) from a well known 'palestinian' and try to wriggle out of this one. "There are no differences between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. We are all part of one nation. It is only for political reasons that we carefully underline our Palestinian identity... yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity serves only tactical purposes. The founding of a Palestinian state is a new tool in the continuing battle against Israel". - Zuhair Muhsin, military commander of the PLO and member of the PLO Executive Council -
19. Modern Jews want nothing to do with the Bible or the G-d of
Who's the boss   (01.07.12)
Creation, Israel and the Bible. They are too big, independent and smart for THAT. Soooo, He will teach us a lesson the hard way. The problem is us, not what the world does.
20. Great! Next step is to invite God to give a speech in the UN
Eugene ,   Israel   (01.07.12)
21. I can already see everyones response
Jonathan ,   MN/US   (01.07.12)
"Do you really think we care about that?" The fact you have a historical connection to the land dosnt mean it belongs to you. My mothers family came from norway. Does that mean I own norway? No. So face it, your NOT going to convince ANYONE Israel owns either the west bank or gaiza. And as #15 so kindly pointed out your own courts say the west bank isnt part of israel. Thank you for your time
22. Pointing to the Bible isn't the best approach.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.07.12)
Pointing to the archaeological evidence that supports the words therein does. Except for the first two books of the Bible, the rest have their stories supported by the archaeology the later it gets. At one point (mid-600s BC I think) the archaeology matches just about perfectly with the biblical stories. If you present the world with the evidence and explain it properly it will be much more effective than pointing to a set of religious books.
23. #5, there is increasing evidence that in the later parts of
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.07.12)
the Bible it is actually a history book and contemporary record, not just a Judahite mythos.
24. #3 Abdel Karim Salim
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.07.12)
If you were born in a Hospital, that doesn't give the right to say that the hospital belongs to you When you went to school, the fact you studied there doesn't make the school your property If you rode on a bus, that doesn't make the bus your property I will ask you to do what I have asked so many other to do, with no avail Even if you born on my doorstep, that doesn't give you the right to say that my house belongs to you Since you claim the land is yours, please show me where Palestine, Jerusalem or Al Quds are mentioned in your Quran ?
25. Do you know
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (01.07.12)
how many people care what's written in Bible? Don't be surprised most of the world consider you as intruders.
26. Annexation Next
RickD ,   USA   (01.07.12)
@15 JohnR, back with your legalistic attacks on Israel again, I see. The rulings you mention aren't relevant. They merely reflect the fact that Israel has not annexed Judea and Samaria and the fact that the legal status is in dispute. While Judea and Samaria may not legally part of Israel they also are not legally part of any other sovereign nation. Israel's claim to that territory is as good as any one else's claim. If Israel were to annex Judea and Samaria tomorrow those sections of those legal rulings would become moot. I'll assume that the author of this opinion piece would support annexation. You cannot place a spade into the earth anywhere in Israel without hitting Jewish artifacts. The land itself is Jewish. Any denial of this simple fact is simply wrong.
27. #15 John R. Far be it for you to talk
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.07.12)
America was stolen from the Indians & Spanish, by European invaders that had no prior attachment to the land Insofar as legalites, get the heck out, then can feel free to lecture us on morality and what is or isn't legal
28. #25 Jarda - Impartial statistics
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.07.12)
to prove your contentions, post them Did you know that the Quran doesn't mention Palestine, Jerusalem of Al Aqsa, if you're making claim, what is it based upon other than sheer greed?
29. # 15
Birdi ,   Israel   (01.07.12)
Politically the West Bank is best regarded as territory over which there are competing claims which should be resolved in peace process negotiations. Israel has valid claims to title in this territory based not only on its historic & religious connection to the land & its recognized security needs, but also on the fact that the territory was not under the sovereignty of any state & came under Israeli control in a war of self-defence imposed upon Israel. (Government of Israel-Policy Guidlines)
30. Abdel Karim Salim
Ken Jurist   (01.07.12)
Abdel Karim Salim what about Jordan? That was 75% of the Mandate borders.
