Charlie Sheen
2. Angels
Jeha from London   (01.07.12)
They are angels firing rockets !
3. Groundhog Day
Don ,   Nitro, USA   (01.07.12)
What 's that old groundhog Haniyeh doing sticking his head out of his burrow before February 2nd? I know he's afraid of seeing his shadow - or the shadow of an IAF aircraft.
4. No truer words were ever spoken
s B   (01.07.12)
Good onya Ismail Haniyeh!
5. The beautiful distortions of a sick mind
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (01.07.12)
Well, hamas is not engaging in suicide bombings due to the security situation. This is the only reason. Haniyeh is in a good mood after meeting so many Muslim leaders, but he and them must learn a few things: Even the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt somehow must feed the peoples of Egypt. Otherwise they will be the next to be wiped away. Carefully looking at the demonstrations of the so called Arab spring started not because of Gaza. The Islamist leaders in the destabilized countries soon will find themselves in the situation, that they need to rule their countries. There are practical problems to solve and Haniyeh soon will learn, that his Islamist partners in Israels neighboring countries will touch ground and face the realities. With the false impression of being save from an Israeli strike I fear, that they may consider to go ahead and in the worst case deliver the casus belli. If this happens, I fear, this time, they will meet an IDF that will act much tougher than it did during cast lead.
6. Sure Buddy What ever you think
Ken ,   Australia   (01.07.12)
for 1, your lucky israel kept you alive , for 2, try and use the peanut inside your head and think for a minute at least, as long is its not to hard for you, who indulges in kidnapping people and holding them hostage under the ground for 5 years in order to let blood thirsty terrorists out of prison , OH Hamas, you peanut head and furthermore, if you want to help the palestines, quit your job and stop pretending your not a filthy terrorist that plans the murders of hundreads of innocent jews, whois still today planning the deaths of hundreads more.
7. gaza the reason for arab spring? NO!
roxanne ,   haifa/san francisco   (01.07.12)
keep talking moron
8. If Pals think like Haniyeh, why should they want "peace"
Alan ,   SA   (01.07.12)
9. These Palestinian groups always behave in such a
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.07.12)
self-centred manner. It's always Gaza-this and Palestine-that. There are things that happen in this world that do not have either of these as their catalyst.
10. Egypt in no position to confront Israel
Giliboy da dudey lad ,   Movin, dudin it   (01.07.12)
They are totally broke and facing bankruptcy therefore totally reliant on US handouts, therefore not about to start any trouble with Israel / only pay lip service to hamas. If anything, Arab Springs are in Israel's favour. For example, when the Syrian opposition topple Assad, they'll be more likely to want to do a deal with Israel than Assad did.
11. right
bobblehead dentan ,   lalaland   (01.07.12)
Israel's technology and military are superior to anything it's enemies have. It's economic acumen is also greater than what these cave men could muster in a 1000 generations. Israel can and should take Hamas at their word, and prepare to finish off all the countries in the entire Middle East if need be. That's Israel's big problem, so far they make narrow escapes from annihilation, which seem miraculous, but they fail deliver the coup de grace, so we can spend the next couple of decades looking over our shoulders for a day that WILL come. Never let someone sworn to kill you live, when you've already got them beat. Gd hasn't anyone in Israel ever seen a Western movie? COL HA KAVOD.
12. Haniyeh, hatred and terror, will never win!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.07.12)
The Palestinian "cause" will not survive without an Israel to blame for all the misery caused by the Palestinian leaders against their own people. The leaders of Gaza and "Palestine" live in luxury will the rest of their people, particularly in Gaza, live in squalor. Beware the "Arab Spring" Haniyeh because it might turn you into another fallen Gaddafi or Mubarak! You would be far better teaching your children to build instead of destroy. History has proven over and over that that hatred destroys the haters!
13. delusions
Chaim ,   Canada   (01.07.12)
In typical arabesque fashion Hyena manipulates the truth to put a poor little us spin on it. Thing is we know the truth and that truth is that Hamas is a brutal Islamist organization that cares little for human life when measured against the vile ideology. Let the world curse him and his ideological goals and those that follow it
14. The Fallacies of Ismail Haniyeh
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (01.07.12)
I do not share with Haniyeh of HAMAS this superficial joy . Gaza was not even the least reason for the so-called " Arab Spring " but rather socio-economic grievances in many arab countries caused the upheavals there. Besides, Haniyeh was 10 years old when the Yom Kippur War broke out between the Arabs and Israel and he must have been unaware of what went on then . I remember it vividly : before and during the 1973 Yom Kippur War Israel went through the process of becoming ostracized and isolated diplomatically when almost 99% of the African countries severed their relations with Israel . And yet despite becoming an outcast for some 10 years Israel did not move an inch from its longtime position regarding the belligerent arab countries simply because what and who matters in international politics has always been the USA & Western Europe and NOT the poor , under-developped Thirld World countries of Africa ... The current deterioration in relations between Israel and both Turkey and Iran seems to be only ephemeral and will not have but negligible effect on Israel .
15. Insult to Charlie
Joe ,   SV   (01.07.12)
Charlie sheen doesn't deserve such an insult!
16. Democracy?
nJ ,   Trinidad   (01.07.12)
Haniyeh says democracy? He needs a thorough understanding of politics to know that democracy isn't simply being voted into power - it's an entirely wholesome way of life which doesn't exist in Gaza, and thus, results in his party being shunned by the Western World. He's an idiot...
17. Unprecedented security situation?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.07.12)
More delusional ersatz "Palestinian" thinking -- nothing we haven't seen in seven decades. Let's see -- one nuke here; one nuke there -- so much for unprecedented security situations. See, the problem that the Arab and Moslem -- not to mention the European -- world is making is that it thinks Israel doesn't have the resolve. That would be a big mistake. Israel does not have to tolerate primitive violent Arabs on its borders, and Israel -- thankfully -- is not the self-effacing anxious-to-please-the-Moslems Europeams. either. I think the only ones who really understand Israel's resolve and determination are the Americans. They've done it. They know Israel can do it, too. Best of all, the Americans well understand that sometimes, you have to do it. The greatest good, after all, and all that. Besides, I really don't see a problem in removing Arabs from the gene pool. Truly I don't. It's not as if they have contributed anything to civilization since algebra. And they are still living off that single (questionable) accomplishment, which the Greeks would have worked out anyway. If the Arabs want to challenge Israel -- yet again -- go ahead. Bring it on. It hasn't worked out all that well for them, but let them give it their best shot. It will be their last. That's a good thing.
18. Winning?
Marty ,   Toronto Canada   (01.07.12)
Could have fooled me - I guess the Palestinian definition of "Winning" is the same as Charlie Sheen's definition of "Winning".
19. Sheen!
homer jones ,   nyc usa   (01.07.12)
I take Charlie over this guy any day. Hamas is prehistoric.
20. mouthing off
fred lapides ,   Orange, Ct, USA   (01.07.12)
Hamas guy is delighted to announce he believes Israel's security threatened. Sound more like Iranian president than someone seeking a place among nations

22. The Muslim Brotherhood Election Results
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (01.07.12)
#5: "Even the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt must feed the people of Egypt". Well spoken! I think the Egyptians are in for a rude awakening. Things are going to be a big disappointment. I don't know why these folks don't learn. Stop yapping about Israel and build a country. In 63 years look at what Israel has accomplished under a constant state of siege from her neighbors.
23. hamas is a tererorist group!!!!
david ,   miami, United States   (01.07.12)
haniyeh believes that he can do what arafat did with the plo!!! this is only the result of accepting one parasite receive the noble-peace prize when in his hands there was nothing but blood. I am confident that the leaders of the free world will see this dog of haniyeh and his cockroaches of the hamas for what they are...TERRORISTS!!
24. Keep on daydreaming Mr.Terrorist, you
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (01.07.12)

Yalon ,   Israel   (01.07.12)
Please stay were you are in USA and shutup. Nothing good comes out of Jews in USA. If you love Israel so much come here and stand on post and defend Israel. You and every othr jew in the US try to tell us what to do. and how to take care of bussines. well shutup. W
27. The "Independent" is anything but, it has full time
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (01.07.12)
Arab narrative, uberleftist spinnmeister Arabist apologist Fisk on its staff. Haniyeh obviously was told which media are knee jerk Arabist. Surprised he did not pick the Guardian,BBC etc.etc Wonder how many Jewish lefties are helping with his PR campaign.?
28. #26. I would disagree strongly with that statement.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.07.12)
We provide lobbying, loans and nagging as well as many other things. You guys provide us with security, high-class technology, good coffee, etc. As well, Israelis also tell American Jews how to do things, just like American Jews tell Israelis how to do things (I would like to see anyone honestly deny this fact). So we're about even on both counts. We equally benefit each other and we both tell the other group what to do.
29. No winning through conflict
PJW5552 ,   Lexington, KY   (01.07.12)
You don't win by moving closer to war. Nor do you solve problems by ignoring their reasons. Hamas is correct about one thing -- Israel cannot continue to add fuel to the fires of hate and anger and think it enhances Israeli security in the region. It doesn't, it enhances the likelihood of war. Building more walls and barriers does not make Israel safer, or more secure, bridges do. I don't see lots of bridges being built today between Israel and its neighbors. I see only more barriers enhancing ever deeper divisions. That isn't going to be good for anyone in the end.
30. #26 To Yalon
Dan ,   Florida   (01.08.12)
How can you criticize Sarah this way? We are all Jews ALL concerned with the survival of Israel. Absent America and the influence, financial & political, Israel would be in a very precarious position. The real enemy in America is Obama who would rather see Israel disappear as he thinks Israel stands between him & his "greatness". He has no knowledge of the Jewish History or that God gave Israel to us 2600 years ago. He would rather have the Palestinians swarm over Israel surrendering to barbarians. Sarah is right that we are mighty but exploding a nuke in the neighborhood will have disastrous radioactive repercussions for Israel. If Ahmadinejad nukes Israel we would retaliate and destroy Iran. Only 7% of Muslims will then be dead but it would be a devastating blow to Jewish population worldwide. A nuke will only be used as last resort. The Palestinians know that an elephant can be eaten one bite at a time and their worldwide PR machine is eating away at Israel and at some tipping point we will be forced to succumb. Despite our strength, we MUST go on a worldwide PR campaign telling people the truth of Muslims terrorism and the contributions of Israel to the world. Writing works of scholarship accomplish nothing.
