1. Viscious cycle
Sigmund   (01.08.12)
The Viscious cycle of gang warfareof the islamic and jewish fundementalist triumphalist machohoonism has to be weighed down . Driven by uncontrolled impulses of aggresion as in the jungle the brakes are being sabotaged ..Some argue its unavoidable but controllable and the status quo of the cold war is best and the most honest .Whatever the jews must maintain the deterrant disincentives to both the islamic and jewish fanatics,Wecan do it with non lethal means.
2. Yes to strong protest - No to illegal acts
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (01.08.12)
Before right wing settlers wish to accuse me of being against meaningful protest, I firmly state that these illegal & stupid acts are really going against our best interests. They would have us divide Israel, even to the point of acting like hooligans against 'our' IDF. We have family serving the IDF, including on these Shomron bases. Who gave them the right, in the name of law abiding Jews happening to settle in a disputed part of our land, to act in our name? Yes, we need strong protest, but making a start by trying to legalize our communities, is far more productive, than highlighting what is blatantly illegal. No to attacking innocent Arabs because they also happen to live in our neighborhood, and no to attacking our IDF bases that foremost aim to protect us. We are Jews who happen to live where we believe we are meant to, just like Jews living in Tel Aviv, and Haifa. That doesn't make us outlaws, even though international pressure is consistent against Jews today as always. Stand tall, firm, proud and act justly!
3. What is it called when a government uses its police or army
Shame on Israel   (01.08.12)
to attack its own people based on the command of a few???? A dictatorial police state which is the exact opposite of a democracy. Bravo soldiers. You did the job you joined the IDF to do. PROTECT THE PEOPLE.
4. Soldiers supplied extremists with intelligence
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (01.08.12)
IMHO, any soldier who supplied military intelligence to these individuals that subsequently attacked the army base should be given a dishonorable discharge and tried with the attackers. These soldiers can't be trusted. They put their fellow soldiers in danger and broke with their code. Through this act they created a distraction which could have been capitalized on by Israel's enemies had it been known.

You should realize that when the Barak plans to destroy Jewish homes he coordinates with Fatah. Fatah informs their people not to attack the soldiers and police as they drive through Arab villages so they can surprise the Jews.
6. this is treason!
(01.08.12)
They should be punished to the full extent of the law!
7. Quite right 4
r cummings ,   london UK   (01.08.12)
Soldiers who supply intelligence to political activists and aid and abet the sabotage of lawful military operations are in total breach of discipline and military law. They should be charged, court martialled and sentenced to a long period in the stockade, followed by dishonourable discharge and loss of all benefits. The battalion should be disbanded, to teach all a lesson that soldiers cannot act against proper the chain of command. Doubt any of that will happen though, the politicians don't want to upset the settlers and religious zealots who make up a good proportion of the troops. They will put political popularity before military discipline and hope that the media issue fades away with the light knuckle-rapping for the hilltop youths.

WIth an elected government, it's called DEMOCRACY. What you propose is ANARCHY.

What have you been smoking?
10. Israeli Leaders SeverelyDamage the Rights of ALL Non-Muslims
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (01.08.12)
For the sole reason Jews were not Muslim, 10,000 Jews were ruthlessly ethnically cleansed from Gaza from land that NEVER belonged to Arabs. Forced into poverty, many of the evicted Jews had to live in tents for a very long time. The persecution of Jews continues. Israeli leaders are very cruel to patriotic Jews who live in the BIBLICAL Jewish homeland of world famous Judea and Samaria. Jews must be allowed to live, build and breathe in the highly cherished Jewish homeland! It must not be a crime to not be a Muslim! Innocents must NOT be rendered homeless because they don't belong to the totalitarian, political religion of Islam!
11. #9 did you mean #5 or #4?
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.08.12)
If you mean #5, the answer is Marlboro Light. If you doubt what I am saying ask any soldier or police involved with the attacks. Or you could contact Barak and ask him if it is true. You can find his address on the Knesset website.
12. #7 Your point - IDF make war on settlers?
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (01.08.12)
Your quote 'light knuckle rapping' fails to remember the brutal assualt on young Jewish kids in Armona, or the mass eviction of families living peacefully in Gush Katif. While, I agree with your sentiment about mainitaining discipline in the army, I disagree regarding viewing our hill top youth as anything but courageous. Imagine just a handful of kids roughing it on the Beacons, surrounded by hostile forces, because of strong belief in their rights to that land. The British Army is based on territorial claims to the land, disputed as its been over the ages. Settlers in Israel are the backbone of our Jewish nation, and most of the hilltop youth are our future leaders, many serving with honor in the IDF. Our problems begin with weak leaders paying more concern to EU & left wing sentiment. You've got the facts a little distorted. Shalom!
13. #11 israel - #9 is meant to #5 israel
solomon ,   bklyn   (01.08.12)
I am sure you already asked soldiers and police and have already contacted Barak, yes? Yea, right.
