33. To all who say that many will be forced to work on sunday
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.10.12)
Those same people are currently being forced to work on Shabbat. At least this way they will get one day off, and the equality that is supposed to be between religious and secular workers can be restored. PS current work day is already 8,5 hours I think. that's already a LONG day. We need to be more efficient, not just be at work more. Planning in Israel seems to be sorely lacking.
34. Working on Friday will not create a peaceful Shabbat
Fran ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.10.12)
As a lifelong Shabbat observer who has experienced Friday workdays (both half and whole), I know that having to go to work on Fridays, and working longer hours the rest of the week, will not lead to a restful Shabbat. Instead, it will lead to more people being unable to have any kind of restful Shabbat - it is very difficult to prepare for Shabbat if you're at work late Thursday evening and Friday morning. Having a chu"tz-nik Sunday off is not worth it.
35. I thought I was the only one with Motzei Shabbas depression
Mike ,   Jerusalem   (01.10.12)
The power of the holiness of Shabbat is what is involved. A day off afterwards would allow us to gradually depart towards the work week.
36. #30 "then give us a day to be normal"
Yossef   (01.10.12)
We are not normal people Nadiv, didn't you noticed that already?
37. Can feel those Monday morning blues on the way!

Your tb is the first good laugh I've had so far today and I thank you. Although I know exactly what you mean, you're lucky. With my bunch it's not just visual, but the minute they open their mouths, you want to run away from home.....
39. #18/30 Agreed. Coming from the US; no Sundays is a bummer.

I think we can take a cue from the b'samim of Havdalah that the neshama (and the rest of us) need a little solace and eaaasing back into the work-week (like having, say, all of Sunday?). Yes, I do not like the idea of being "like the goyishe veldt", but there's something to be said for having a day off for resting/chillin' w/ family n' friends and then a day off for getting your own things done/traveling and just doin' life. I think that people who wouldn't otherwise consider "doing Shabbos/at" might think about it if they had another day to get stuff done. By the way, it's not a terrible thing -every once n' a while - to take the kiddos out of school to do something "sunday-like". We do Free-Days sometimes and take the kids to: the forrest, bowling, the ocean, etc. Still it would be nice to have a weekly Sunday again. *sigh*

41. We aren't the world
Chana ,   Jerusalem   (02.03.13)
If I'd wanted to live in a country that is "synchronized with the world" I would have stayed in the world. I'm fine with the Jewish weekend. By the way, is there a reason people can't just ask for Sunday off?
