1. My sympathies to the Labor Party!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.09.12)
He is so self-centered that Shelly Yachimovich better watch her Knesset seat which this narcissistic addict for publicity and limelight will take before she can blink!
2. Had his son not been abducted
Raptor   (01.09.12)
the world would never have heard of him. Publicity has gone to his head.
3. Why am I not in the least surprised by this?
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.09.12)
4. #2 Correction

He was CAPTURED-not abducted.
5. WHO ELECTED HIM?
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah   (01.09.12)
I have every sympathy with Noam Shalit. But I ask, who elected him to be a potential member of Knesset? The time has come for all M.K.s to be voted individually to the Knesset. The time for voting for lists should be brought to a close. Every M.K. should have to stand for a particular town, or part of a city. The present system is outrageous, an insult to every Israeli voter. Form a new party - yes, but first let the man in the street vote you there. It will be hard to change our undemocratic system because the present M.K.s know that they are on to a good thing. Perhaps the system in the U.S. is one of the most democratic in the free world, We could do a lot worse by emulating this. Shalit wants 'to influence the shape of Israeli society'. Very good and idealistic, but firsst let him see if Israelis want him to be the man to do this? Yair Lapid is another high roller. Let him first earn the right to be in the Knesset by receiving a mandate from the electors - you and me. Finally let me say that ithe threshhold for getting into the Knesset should be raised appreciably.
6. Serve needy people first, then run for an office.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.09.12)
He wants to serve the public? That's noble. What is holing him back? Can he not volunteer in hosptals, old folk homes, parks? He did a lot for his son and has a better understanding of many things now. But to face a voter, he will need to prove more than activities serving his own family. Let's wish Noam Shalit strength and luck in serving Israeli needy people first. On the other hand, there are so many lousy MK members, I am sure Mr. Shalit is already more qualified than they are. Top policy makers in Israel should modify the elections system to attract higher quality of public servants. The first step should be to get rid of perks such as limousines with drivers paid from taxpayer's money. Good public servants will serve with dedication without those perks.

Yes indeed it is outrageous. The only way to rectify this anomaly is for the electorate to boycott the ballot box. The politicians will never change this on their own initiative. It does not suit their purpose.

Definition of "abduction". To take someone away and deprive them of their liberty, usually for the purpose of demanding a ransom. I have a BA in English Language and an MA in English Literature.
9. gratitude
alexi   (01.09.12)
labour would have brought shalit back in a box. This is the thanks bibi gets for freeing shalit.
10. All it will take is one freed terrorist killing
jason white ,   afula,israel   (01.09.12)
an Israeli and this little man will destroy the almost dead labor party.
11. #5 and #7 - so you mean vote the candidate, not the party?
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.09.12)
We do that here. The result is billions spent on annoying campaign ads (thank God I don't watch TV anymore), political grandstanding, self-serving behaviour, and creates a general atmosphere of oneupsmanship.

Sagi   (01.09.12)
The electoral system in Israel makes a mockery of democracy. To add insult to injury the ensuing governmental structure makes this mockery complete. Further to this, and as a direct upshot, the quality of the representatives, both in parliament and government is,insulting, to say the least.
13. Can't kick his media addiction!
tiki ,   belgium   (01.09.12)
Instead of showing some humility & respect for the survivors of freed murderers & terrorists, this man continues to trample on their feelings to feed his own selfcentered & selfish needs.
14. as long as Daphne Leef doesn't stand I can stomach Noam Shal
zionist forever   (01.09.12)
Noam Shalit is a hypocrite because after spending years demanding the government pay any price for Gilad he started criticizing Bibi for paying such a high price for Gilad and saying how he didn't negotiate a good enough deal. Hypocrite or not as long as Noam Shalit is wanting to enter politics because its something he believes in and isn't going to do a Yair Lapid and form a single issue party to promote his own agenda then good luck to him. Please though Daphne Leef I am begging you don't get any ideas about standing for Knesset. The idea of Yair Lapid, Noam Shalit and Daphne Leeff all government ministers terrifies the hell out of me.
15. #12 - It's no picnic here. =p

It seems to be the way in alot of cases, give them their five minutes of fame and they can't get enough. Look at Daphne Leef the woman never shuts up and always has something new to moan and protest . about. She reminds me of Hamas when the held Gilad, he was their poster boy and they never wanted to give him up because he was bringing them so much publicity. With Daphne Leef, if we solved all the countries problems she wouldn't be happy because there wouldn't be anything for her to protest about & nobody would want to listen to her anymore. Noam Shalit had his time in the spotlight the whole country felt sorry for him now Gilad's home rather than fading into the background he has decided to get into politics, make sure nobody forgets the name Noam Shalit.

21. shalit

labor lost my vote IF Shalit is on the list.
22. NO MORE SEEING NOAM SHALIT, PLEASE
Netanya ,   Netanya   (01.10.12)
I have seen his face so many times, that seeing it again would be type of torture, at this point. Let him stay at home with his family and nurse his son, who needs him now. I find it selfish of him, as he has been throughout the entire fiasco to even think of this move.
23. noam- go to your lover and leave us alone
jack   (01.10.12)
we know everything about your so called nobelity. it is a fake and it willl be published
