31. 24# Don't be to sure about who would get their butt kicked.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (01.14.12)
We have F-22 raptors sitting around that haven't been injected in combat as of yet. One of my friends husband... flies the RAPTOR. They can shoot down 4 aircraft for every plane in the air. They are flying against advanced F-16s out of Eilson Air Force Base in Fairbanks. If these plane were put into theater.....the odds of winning against them would be substantially lower for any Air Force. Needless to say.......we aren't Israels enemy anyways. I can't say that for the dim wit and chief though. Israel has the advantage though....If Iran gets to stupid.....it can be lit up with nuclear weapons in the end. That's why Israel has them. That's why we have them. Religious nuts.....like former enemies that we have fought...were only willing to stop after the use of these weapons. No apologies needed if it comes to that.
32. No need to be concerned, Israel will not take risks.
Michael ,   California, USA   (01.14.12)
An opinion is developing around the world that isolated Israel is the unruly bully ba'gan. Maybe Israeli generals, who have infiltrated politics after retirement, enjoy propagating this kind of view because it extends what they've enjoyed before retiring? But rest assured, world, Israeli citizens are not bullies, they do not want to fight Iran nor anyone else. Israeli citizens enjoy peace and quiet like all normal people. They do not want to be concidered reckless aggressors bent on suicide. Rest assured, world, this will show in the next elections when political parties with ex-generals high on their lists will be rejected. It is time to develop a peaceful tadmit of Israel, something that is closer to reality. Maybe the new party Lapid will form will make it a priority item in its program?

another reason why shouldn't the US feed the settlers.

35. My dear Americans - I am a Jew/Israeli that loves America..
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.14.12)
...and without sucking up to you guys across the Atlantic Ocean, I think USA is pretty much the best country in the world next to Israel. Besides Israel, only USA attracts my passionate admiration and love - I've had many many arguments in the past with Left Wing Liberal post nationalists and moral relativist Socialist America hating Eurotrash. I've sympathized with America all my life and I've sided with America always in a confrontation with Russia, Europe and the Islamic world. So - you've got my support and admiration - God Bless America. When it comes to an Iran strike - Obama should be lucky that Netanyahu is in power. Patience has never been my virtue. Had it been up to me, Iran would have been gone with the wind a long long time ago in a nuclear mushroom cloud.

The minute the islamofascist Iranian regime in place will have nukes they will detonate one in an Iranian desert to create deterrence. Until then everything coming from their mouths will be the usual muhammadan hot air, the same hot air you the Turks are beginning to expels since the AKP is in power. On the other hand the Iranian right to retaliate is arguable b/c in the first place they don´t have the right to produce nuclear weapons being NPT signatories. And without nukes if they carry their retaliation business too far they´ll soon realise that they don´t have the means to militarily escalate in face of USA, GB and Israel. IF the regime wants to survive..that is...

Cynthia ,   USA   (01.14.12)
I'm a strong advocate of sanctions but western countries doing business with Iran have dragged their heels and blocked sanction motions. They sacrifice security for financial gain. While sanctions have served to isolate and impact Iran's economy, the fanatic regime pursues nuclear power to gain power over the west. Sanctions alone will not stop Iran. The regime is more than willing to let their people suffer. In 2009 when the Iranian opposition came close to toppling the regime, the US along with other western countries stood back while Iranians were massacred in the streets, universities and prisons. So much for your ultimate solution. Your isolationist policy towards Iran and hope that Israel will go it alone exposes your limited understanding of the Iranian threat and the fact that the US is Iran's primary target. Israel is a target because she is a US ally and provides the US with regional influence in the ME.
38. #2, for the good reason that

Golda Meir said: "There were no such thing as Palestinians. little addendum here, Meir only said this in 1968 when she resided in the West Jerusalem Talbalyya house owned by Palestinian Hanna Bisharate. Golda Meir received the house from the Foreign Ministry which was occupying the house since 1948 after kicking out its owner Palestinians.

Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.14.12)
But let's face it, conventional isn't going to cripple much of Iran's underground sites. It would seem to me that bunker-busting tactical nukes would be needed for those.

Malcolm Blankenship ,   US   (01.14.12)
If the US "took the gloes off", there would be no survivors. You beat up on some incompetent arabs and your head swells. You know deep down that it would be more than ugly.

tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.15.12)
first of all, american "aid" amounts to less than 5% of israel's annual budget. second, over 40% of israel's population lives in the greater tel aviv area ("gush dan"), which less than half the size of the king ranch in texas. so israel's choice boils down to risking 5% of its budget or 40% of its population (and more than 50% of its economy). sorry to spoil your perfectly simplistic opinion with facts, but u.s. aid isn't what keeps israel going.
43. 40. if we reach the point that we go to war against Israel..
(01.15.12)
God help us all...the US will have truly lost her moral compass...and there will be a civil war in the US
44. #43: The US needn't go to war with Israel
TaylorT ,   Earth   (01.15.12)
...it simply has to stop protecting Israel in the international political arena. That means no more vetoes at the UNSC (which means increasingly harsher sanctions on Israel--to the point where Israelis can't import/export any goods and its leaders cannot travel abroad.) It also means no US financial aid whatsoever to Israel (and no spare parts for past equipment given to them.) The US turning from Israel, and the accompanying UN sanctions against Israel, would not in themselves be enough to take Israel down. Israel is extremely wealthy, nuclear-armed, and has the best military in the ME. But what about after ten years or so of international sanctions (and no protection from Big Brother Uncle Sam?) Israel would grow progressively weaker, while its enemies would be emboldened (and possibly nuclear armed.) It will be at this point--after ten years of sanctions against Isreal--that Israel's enemies will attack. So you see, to destroy Israel the US would not have to go to war with it, all the US has to do is simply turn its back.
45. #44 Earth to TaylorT
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.15.12)
The US needs Israel as their ally on the frontline of terror with US military strength backing them. You obviously live in a fantasy world of sanctions against Israel while promoting an isolationist policy by pretending the US has no enemies. As far as spare parts are concerned, Israel learned from experience with the French to develop their own defense industry. The US buys equipment from Israel. In fact, this equipment saves American lives on the battlefield. But I do like your description of Israel as wealthy, nuclear-armed with the best military in the ME. We need more allies like Israel.
46. #45: Silly
TaylorT ,   Earth   (01.15.12)
No one's pretending the US has no enemies. Nor is one an isolationist because the person does not want the US to attack Iran. Implying otherwise is one of the most ridiculous things I've read on Ynet. And as far as Israel being on the "front line in the war against terrorism." All I can do is laugh at that. In fact, Israel is a BIG PART of the reason why the US was attacked on 9/11. Read the 9/11 Commission Report--it details how the 9/11 ringleader, KSM, chose to attack the US BECAUSE of our suport for Israel.

WE DONT NEED AMERICA TO GIVE US THE GREEN LIGHT. THEY STOP ISRAEL EVERY TIME AS WELL AS COUNTRIES IN EUROPE. THEY ARE NOT BEING THREATENED, SO WHATS THE PROBLEM, GO IN THEIR ISRAEL AND GIVE IT THEM {IRANI] LIKE THE WORLD HAS ONLY SEEN OR HEARD OF IN JAPAN. ON ITS NUCLEAR SITES. IF THEY ATTACK TEL-AVIV THEN WE SEND A FEW NUCKS ON TEHERAN, IF FIRST TIME THEY DONT LEARN THE LESSON.
