1. This "Moral man" is "sacrificing" himself for public good,
tom ,   tel aviv   (01.14.12)
don't you know this mantra? Old as my shoes. He's heard his People's "call", one may add. So this pisher is the Man against Bee-bee? Wow, what the world has come to?! But you know what: after Obama nothing is mysterious to me anymore. Strange times indeed. Such is reality and it's getting sucher&sucher!
2. What yummy looking candidates. I'll take one of each.
Rivkah   (01.14.12)
3. sounds like
ecr   (01.14.12)
this headline is making this a fate-acompi. Ridiculus
4.  Mr.Nobody endangers Bibi ? Wow (End)
Nora Tel Aviv   (01.14.12)
5. To #4 No fond of Bibi, but Mr. Nobody is not a threat to him
Rachel ,   US   (01.14.12)
6. Huh? What a weird question you ask ...
Shani ,   Israel   (01.14.12)
And why exactly is it necessarily true that Noam Shalit is going into politics for his own sake??? Is there no such thing as someone actually going into politics out of ideology? That while he was campaigning for his son he made enough contacts and reached enough insights that he actually believes he can make a difference because of all he has learned about the system? Are you so cynical that you don't think that is conceivable???? Thank G-d that not everyone is as cynical as you.
7. The real question is
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (01.14.12)
The comparison here is out of place. Netanyahu is a tried and tested Prime Minister with a number of considerable achievements, and also not a few mistakes in his record. Lapid has no political experience whatsoever, and at present no party. The real question is whether Lapid will be able to win enough votes to help determine who the next Prime Minister of Israel will be.
8. No contest. Voters are not that narrow or stupid.
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (01.14.12)
First of all, it will not be Lapid vs Bibi, or even close to that. The best Lapid can hope for is 6 mandates, or even if we exaggerate...8. Netanyahu is a veteran politician and diplomat with decades of experience either running the country or in senior positions. Lapid has zero political and diplomatic experience. And finally, who the heck is Daum to say that Noam Shalit cannot run for Knesset? This is still a democracy and every citizen has the right to run for public office. Daum if you don't like Shalit, then don't vote for him. But he's got just as much right to run as Netanyahu does, or you or me for that matter.
9. Oneness:BIG ISRAEL, pronounceable spelling, soc-econ RENEWAL
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (01.14.12)
10. white knight
alexi   (01.14.12)
it remains to be seen but lapid flunked his first test. He consulted the failed winograd confirmed failure olmert on his political moves. Lapid's father enabled olmert so the family record is bad. What do we have from journalist-lapid, haber, sarid, chaimovitich, avinery-nothign from nothing-bleeding heart nakba stooges while israelis get blown up from dumb peres and rabin concesions. The whole thing stinks. A tough peace with arabs over blood is the minimum. Where none exists, management with limited arrangements. In any case, thenext 3 wars will see thousands of misslies hit arab centers in judea and samaria. it would be prudent for arabs to leave now to save their skins.
11. impossible to vote for anyone
danny   (01.14.12)
can only vote for parties
12. Lapid has political experience?
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (01.14.12)
It is not just being popular that makes a good politician. Obama was very popular but can not seem to get any bills passed. A politician must know how to wheel and deal with other politicians, not just say 'good' things. Lapid may get votes, but he is a mistake since he can not do anything but talk. We need not just idealistic people with vision, we need people who are familiar with the inside system of politics, which Lapid is not.
13. Articles authored by Lapid appearing
Robert Haymond ,   Israel/Canada   (01.14.12)
in Ynet are generally trite.
14. A dumb article. Lapid is insignificant. Lieberman maybe!
michael redbourn ,   arad israel   (01.14.12)
It's interesting how journalists support this one of their own. If Bibi is replaced, it will be by Lieberman. Oh how our left-wing journalists would love that.
15. Running a government is a different business than writing
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (01.15.12)
Has Lapid ever come close to the task of running a huge organization? Not everybody may like Netanyahu and I wasn't exactly exited when Bibi and Avi formed the coalition. But today I must acknowledge, that they have done a fairly good job if you also look at the problems they have been facing. And Lapid? Is there any achievement, Lapid can point at as a reference? Lieberman will not replace Netanyahu, since he already made it clear months ago, that he would not run against him. I believe, asked today, he would say nothing different. If Kadima needs Lapid as a candidate, it must be really short of personnel. By the way, would anybody vote for Livni? Would anybody vote for Shaul Mofaz? I mean, I am just asking!
16. yair lapid
yonatan silverman ,   tel aviv israel   (01.15.12)
Yair Lapid is not a politician He is a crembo His brain is fluff Who cares what he does or what he thinks. If he is elected prime minister I will return to Brooklyn
17. Well, I do think Lapid will have a better chance . . .
nibor ,   israel   (01.15.12)
if he washes the grease out of his hair. That's the first thing most women want to do, wash it out. Second, isn't there a limit to the amount a person can be prime minister? There should be.
18. to 7
mr. nobody ,   TA   (01.15.12)
when policy is eqoall to jornalism as it is in the last 7 years lapid is better but realy nothing would be progressed whoever was elected
19. TO 9
(01.15.12)
BUT IF YOU ARE NOT FROM NEITHER LANDS
20. Who the he.. is Lapid
Jorge   (01.15.12)
Where has he worked, has he been in goverment, has he been in the Knesset, was he a high ranking officer in the IDF, did he run a big company, maybe a small one, a tiny one? besides having a talk show, what has he acomplished?. the only thing he knows is blowing hot air
21. Left wing hasn't won an election since Rabin
adam eliyahu   (01.15.12)
22. Lapid for PM
Haim ,   TA   (01.15.12)
23. if i was a candidate for PM elections...
J.Gad ,   Israel   (01.15.12)
i will not care for who my friends would vote for. Think about it: many israelis vote in the last pm elections for Netanyahu because Obama. Netanyahu e is good and to the joy of his critics he also is very talented not just to give great speech's. Besides that, Noam Shalit do not have the charm every poitician needs to captivate votes. ourevoir!
24. "Likud a lost cause", #21
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.15.12)
Daum calls the post-Sharon Likud with 12 mandates a "lost cause", but ignored what really happened. Sharon was never elected, the Likud platform was elected. The clever Sharon (called by Edna Arbel Israel's most corrupt man) placed his cronies in key positions in the Likud so when he had the opportunity, he used a combination of blackmail and bribery to steal Likud votes and moneys to set-up the Kadima kleptocracy with the likes of Olmert, Hanegbi, Mofaz and of course his own sons. The Likud voters were so shocked by their party's inability to act against these criminals, that they did not vote. This brought Israel the Kadima government and its great achievements: two lost wars, a Hamas government in Gaza, a powerful Hezbolla, a hostile Egypt and Holocaust-denier Abbas being more legitimate than any Israeli leader. #21 Barak and Olmert both won elections since Rabin.
25. Any party putting inexperience like Lapid at the helm
rebecca ,   Modiin   (01.15.12)
Is not worth voting for. No matter how good he sounds, how familiar his face is, he has no experience, local or international. It think the media would love to have one of their own in power, and will push articles like this to persuade us we should vote for him, but I hope we, the voters are not that stupid.
26. talkback #7
J.Gad ,   Israel   (01.15.12)
The question is if he really needs political experiences considering that if he runs for Prime Minister for sure he is able to win all young israelis votes and all women votes. :-) stay on message lol
27. Lapid is another leftist hater
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.15.12)
His only platform is the same as his moronic father - hate the Haredim. The only thing Lapid can do is steal leftist seats from other leftist parties. Big deal. His stand is the same as Meretz and won't be worth any more than that.
28. Oh I forgot, to NUMBER 19! TEMPORARY resident EVERYWHERE.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (01.16.12)
29. Lapid will soon wish he'd stayed out of politics.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.16.12)
There is no foundation whatsoever for the belief that Lapid will become a major force in Israeli politics. I suspect that, after the next election, Lapid will wish he'd stayed out of politics. The idea that Lapid will sprint ahead of Lieberman, for example, is funny.
