1. Before telling Israel what to do and not do, I suggest the
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (01.15.12)
Secretary General of the United Nations read Article 80 of the United Nations Charter. This Article etched the decisions of the League of Nations of 1922 regarding "Palestine" into international law in a way that only a change of the Charter can change them. The League of Nations decisions of 1922 - part of international law of course - assign the entire land between the River and the Sea to the Jewish people as its "national home"; a territory in which Jews may settle without any interference from others, including the Secretary General himself. It is time we conduct ourselves based on international law and signed agreements if we don't wish to appear totally cynical about them.
2. bow to your masters Ban...
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.15.12)
3. what is your comment on the muslim brotherhood
David ,   Haifa, Israel   (01.15.12)
saying to kill all jews in israel? you will help them?
4. it's time...
Frank P. ,   Jerusalem   (01.15.12)
To challenge this lie. Perhaps take Ban to the international court. Perhaps Israel should bring suit against the UN for breach of contract and damages.
5. Brainwashed
Samuel ,   Israel   (01.15.12)
I had always admired UN chief Mr Ban Ki-moon for being such a cool headed person. I think he has been brainwashed by the Arabs. He should be briefed by our Deputy FM Mr Danny Ayalon and let him know the whole truth (history) of the Middle East.Only Danny alone can influence the UN chief,in shaping his brain washed mind.,rest all the others are just dummies.
6. UN Hypocrites - ONLY focussed on Israel
Scott ,   QLD Australia   (01.15.12)
Its very sad. As a young kid I grew up respecting the UN. But unfortunately no longer. The UN has no credibilty whatsoever. None. It is a rotten organisation that has lost its original purpose and has been hijacked by ratbags. The amount of time devoted to Israel in stark contrast to all the other world events and truly evil regimes is just appalling. The ridiculous waffle especially in this case, only deserves complete and utter disdain. There'll never be a Palestinian state because they want to destroy Israel and EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT. Ban is a wanker.
7. Israeli civilians
Moshe ,   Jerusalem   (01.15.12)
Its not clear to me, is Ban talking about the violence against Israeli civilians, if not then he should be.
8. "violence against civilians must end": Sderot anyone?
(01.15.12)
9. Israel ready to compromise. Not Palestinians
Sam ,   Canada   (01.15.12)
Israel has said that it is ready for a compromise leading to Jewish and Palestinian states. This is the position the UN,US and EU supports. Only the Palestinians reject this position. The Quartet is panic stricken of Palestinian terror and this is why it focuses all its criticism on Israel. Why has it not insisted on Palestinians accepting a Jewish-majority state?
10. Move the Arabs to Midtown NY
Steve from Raleigh   (01.15.12)
Make the UN their capital.
11. UN chief urges Israel
i love Israel ,   Germany   (01.15.12)
Before telling Israel what to do;Mr.Ban should make a trip to North Korea and tell his crazy brothers what to do or not! That would be a great challenge for him!
12. Oh, he has to say that, he doesn't really mean it
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.15.12)

Robert ,   VA, USA   (01.15.12)
Conference on Democracy in the Arab World? That must be the shortest conference since the Conference on Preventing Alcohol Abuse in Ireland.
14. P.S. to # 1:
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (01.15.12)
It must be noted, time and again: Israel has governed the territories in question according to the 1995 Interim Agreement it reached with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The Interim Agreement can be replaced by a peace agreement between the parties, one that requires the parties to negotiate. But, since one part, i.e. the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) has so far rejected all peace offers and opportunities present to it, e.g. Rabin's speech at the Knesset of October 1995; Barak's offer at Kemp David of the Summer of 2000; Sharon's gesture of the Summer of 2005; Olmert offer of 2008, it is a bit pathetic to blame Israel. Furthermore, the PLO rejected all of the above, and has refused to sit down and negotiate with the present Israeli government for one simple reason: The PLO knows that at the end of negotiations it will be required to accept Israel's RIGHT to be, to exist as the independent NATION-STATE OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE; and, to accept a peace treaty as the end of the conflict and the end of all future demands. The PLO has difficulties with such otherwise simple and normal demands for the simple reason: they contradict its Charter and the whole thrust of its activities since it was set up to "liberate" "Palestine" back in 1964, three full years before Israel captured the presently disputed territories.
15. End the Arab Occupation of Jewish Land!
Just me ,   Israel   (01.15.12)
16. RETURN S. KOREA TO NORTH
Roy ,   Canada   (01.15.12)
When Ban returns South Korea to Kim Jung Un, we will think to return Israel to the Arabs. Read the bible you infidel, if you want to know to whom the state of Israel belongs.
17. Lets ban Ban & have a sane UN chief instead !
Moshe ,   Usa   (01.15.12)
18. UN
Riding the Range ,   Lubbock USA   (01.15.12)
Ban Ki-Moon needs to get out of the US that he is not occuping and wake up and smell the roses. He discounts all the Israiles that Hama & PLO has killed. There never has been a Palestinian state or people. They are mostly Arabs. Thank God for Israel.
19. Which Sec.General gets Oscar for bias ?
Roland Seener ,   London England   (01.15.12)
20. hmmm...
Barry ,   center of Israel   (01.15.12)
Makes us sound like we are butchering and slaughtering Arabs by the hundreds with sniper rifles and tanks, no wait that's Syria, and what are you doing about that Ban and the Arab world, that's right, nothing. Don't lecture us about violence against civilians. We are the only real democracy in the middle east.
21. To 1. Ben-Israel and Ban Ki-moon !
FO ,   Belgium   (01.15.12)
The decisions of the League of Nations, voted the 24th of July 1922, and called the "Mandate for Palestine" granded the Jews the IRREVOCABLE RIGHT to settle anywhere between the Sea and the Jordan River, a right unaltered in INTERNATIONAL LAW and valid to this day, reaffirmed by Article 80 of the Charter of the UN. Even a change in the Charter could NOT change an Irrevocable Right. This text should be put on the desk of the Secretary General of the United Nations, a person who seems ignorant of the legalistics of his own organization !
22. When is somebody going to explain the REAL international law
Shame on Israel ,   Jerusalem   (01.15.12)
to this guy once and for all? We have everything and every law on our side. So why are Israeli politicians so afraid to address and instead completely ignore this absolutel crucial point? I think it is because they are afraid they will loose money if they don't make a Pal state. Nothing else makes sense. And I KNOW Peres has all kinds of financial deals in the works. What a disaster and absolute shame that someone would put their own personal finances before the pride and general safety of the people.
23. what occupation!?!They are occupying themselves!
(01.15.12)
He should be more concerned about "violence against civilians" in the neighbourhood countries! What a nonsence...
24. How does Ban and his ilk get to these positions?
Tzila ,   Modiin, Israel   (01.15.12)
He knows the history as well as anyone in those positions. As long as the evil Islamists line Ban's pockets with a pittance of their filthy, undeserved oil funds, he'll spew the usual (intentionally ambiguous) LIES
25. BANG KI THE MOON
LION OF JUDAH   (01.15.12)
Dont read the OLD TESTAMENT, then read the NEW TESTAMENT, or better THE QURAN which mention YA BNEI ISRAIL, then Mr Bang can ask the best & the most educated Islamic Imam who are the nation of BNEI ISRAIL.
26. I can only suppose...
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.15.12)
....that Ban wanted to get out of Beirut alive. Still, rather than engage in mendacity and anti-Israel invective, perhaps he should have kept his mouth shut or simply stayed away altogether. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
27. Okay, lets do him the favor
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (01.15.12)
1st call it occupation for a moment. 2nd clear Area B and C from these stateless. 3rd annex the territories to end what Ban calls occupation. 4th make Area A a connected territory with minimized length of outer border. 5th make Area A a Free State of Stateless. 6th give the stateless a special status but no Israeli citizenship When does Israeli leadership realize that the world is begging for fait accompli! Only, after Israel will have annexed the disputed territories, it will work together with the Arabs to solve the refugee problem. Until then, they will try to solve the problem on the expense of Jews.
28. UN chief urges end to Israeli 'occupation'
R. Laughton ,   Cape Town South Afri   (01.15.12)
What about Chinese occupation and interference in Tibet? And civilian communities targeted in Sderot?
29. Ban, youv'e got it wrong!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (01.15.12)
End the Palestinian Occupation of the land the Jews have lived in for 4,500 years! Ban Ki-moon want the same "solution" that the Palestinians want - the "Final Solution" which will be "Jew Free" (Judenrein) (Abu Mazen's own words) Palestine from Metulla to Eilat! Ban why don't you work for the end of the occupation of Tibet by China and for human rights in the holier than thou Arab Countries that brutalize their people daily and where woman have no rights at all! The fact is that you are just another bigot in the pay of the Arab oil sheikhs!
30. so much for ban's, and the un's impartiality!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.15.12)
bought and paid for by arab oil money, ban is talking utter nonsense! the west bank and gaza were occupied illegally by jordan and egypt in 1948. there are no legal grounds that require israel to surrender territory captured in a defensive war, so ban's statement is a complete lie. this clearly is not the way to peaceful coexistence between the arab states and israel, so apart from personal profit, what could he hope to accomplish by encouraging the arab fantasy of eliminating israel?
