1. They did close it for a few hours
Matt   (01.15.12)
Sure no one will go to war over a few hours but that red line has been. So the context is you cannot close the straits for more than a few hours. The fun part will be finding the true red line how many hours results in a response.
2. How cute!
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.15.12)
Iran reminds me of my sister's kitten play-fighting with our dog. Of course he knows that the kitten is just playing around and doesn't really think he can do any harm. Yep, this is just like those two.
3. USA terrified of Russia
Lucas Thugmouth ,   Detroit USA   (01.16.12)
There is no doubt that the US is petrified of Russia. They are doing everything they can to *diffuse* the situation. If Iran were on the doorstep of the US, they would be crawling like scorched cats, knowing now that Russia has officially said in no uncertain terms "hands of Iran!" This would be a war that the US cannot win and they know it all too well. Aircraft carriers sunk means huge amounts of fighter jets stationed on the bottom of the sea and jets really don't get a good takeoff there. Neither do 8000 navy soldiers and if more than one aircraft carrier decides to do a dive bomb to the bottom of the Gulf, that means the US will then have the firepower of Brazil. The game is over folks. Iran wins and so does Russia!
4. why the letter, why weak sanctions??
david ,   new york   (01.16.12)
obama is less concerned about iran getting an atom bomb than oil prices going up, leading to him losing the election in november. real sanctions will raise gas prices and romney wins the election.
5. Opportunity to show them living in the stone age.
