The religious, exerting excessive control, on the freedoms of the average taxpayer. Israel or Iran? Don't get me wrong. We enjoy a universe of freedoms, long extinguished from Persian life. But, lately, our definition of "Israeli life" has been challenged, by the increasing limits, exerted by the Haredim. The lesson here? Live and let live. Do and believe how you see fit. Also recognize that the freedoms you enjoy, must coexist with the respect to others same freedoms.

Barbie has also been banned from the toy shops in Ramat Bet Shemesh. Looks like we have lots in common. Would be funny if it weren't so sad...

8. Barbie is not the point
Orot parent ,   Bet Shemesh   (01.18.12)
Actually, I do have issues with Barbie. I don't like the way that she creates unrealistic expectations among the 95% of little girls who will not grow up to be tall, incredibly slim, etc. It feeds into the low self esteem that results from the marketing of women in advertising, magazines, etc. And I think that modesty is an excellent way to increase self-esteem, as the woman or girl projects herself as a human being and not a sex object. But what I do object to is the coercion of modesty standards on those who interpret it differently. Not to mention those who attack children of those whose interpretation of modesty is a long skirt and sleeves to the elbow, but not including stockings in summer. That is where we start resembling Iran...

10. Iran, the sexless society par excellence
Yossi   (01.18.12)
Iran, like all perverts and muslims, are so obsessed with sex, that they have no other choice but to terminate their love affair with our cherished but " decadent " Barbie doll; a pernicious Western culture eroding islamic values ( whatever is left of it). With no sex left, They, the iranians, will binge on the Yankee's most flamboyant " object " -- the RQ - 170 drone; and not only in black, but an assortment of equally flamboyant colors
