1. Where is the U.N. reports on ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.18.12)
humanitarian conditions in: 1. The Congo 2. Iran 3. Somalia 4. Syria 5. North Korea 6. Myanmar 7. Egypt 8. Algeria 9. Morocco 10. The Sudan 11. Zimbabwe et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseum. Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip is internationally recognized and fully legal. Or doesn't the humanitarian plight of the people of Southern Israel -- 10,000 missiles fired into Israel -- get taken into account? Gaza is run by an assortment of terrorist rabble. If you REALLY wanted to see a humanitarian crisis, push Israel just a little further. Israel can turn off electricity in Gaza literally by flipping a switch.
2. Did UN accuse Egypt as well?
Gene   (01.19.12)
Why it is only Israel's "fault"? Doesn't Gaza have border with Egypt as well?
3. Collective Punishment?
Moisha Kapoir ,   Nanuet USA   (01.18.12)
Let me get this straight. Hamas is a Terror Organization. The people of Gaza democratically voted for Hamas and thereby for terror. In that case they can not claim civilian status any longer they are members of a Terror Organization. You make your bed you sleep in it. as For Ban K Moon..Cock em Ooon.
4. conditions VS reality VS complexity
Benjamin   (01.18.12)
Israel doesn't have any Oil so the UN doesn't care, as you see in this article the complexity of the conflict, the cause, and the results are completely ignored by the UN it's a non statement. They are laughing their ass off in Gaza, they are up to their neck in aid from arab countries and some Asian countries, the problem is, that the stuff is rubbish, out of date, wrong type of medicine or other electic net (medical equipment) Is this a direct result of a blockade ? i don't think so
5. Gaza troubles
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (01.18.12)
Yes, true, regrettably Israel imposes dire conditions on the people of Gaza. But the darkest hour is before the dawn. Soon, with Iranian and perhaps Arab and Turkish help, Gaza and all of Holy Palestine will be delivered from the yoke of Zionist usurpation.
6. Gaza Report
Gene Graczyk ,   Santa Rosa, CA USA   (01.18.12)
It saddens me to see Israel's response to this report. Well, it' s worse in Darfur and Haiti. It is also much better in other places so that argument fails. There is a war on for the Israeli soul and my only comfort is the fact that more and more Israelis are rejecting hawkish, aggressive tactics for a larger peace strategy that might provide real relief to both sides.
7. UN full of it
marcel   (01.19.12)
ban ki moon and the UN are full of merde period. Gaza's condition is on the shoulder's of ihamel haniyeh and the brother hood and no one else.
8. Gaza is Egypt! Stop pinning it on Israel!
(01.19.12)
9. Typical UN lies
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (01.19.12)
We are the only nation in the history fo the world with a virtual 'occupation' of our own lands.
10. What occupation?
Isac   (01.19.12)
Are those people out of their f#@%* mind? There is no Israeli soldier nor any Jewish civilian in Gaza. There is no Israeli in Gaza. Period. The U.N. should leave their offices in New York. This would be a great spot to build really nice apartments for decent Americans. America and Israel stop all contributions financially and otherwise to the U.N. They are simply useless and a scam.
11. Gazans are obese, TV, cell phone, computer, Internet, ..
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.19.12)
...car consuming terrorists armed to the teeth. Hamas controls Gaza - Israel controls the border - which independent/sovereign states usually do. USA and Mexico share a border but I haven't heard people accusing the USA of "occupying" Mexico on the other side of the border. The poverty of Mexico is Mexico's responsibility. The same goes for Gaza. How otherwise could Hamas fire at 10.000 rockets at Israel? If Gaza were truly "occupied" no rockets/missiles would be fired at Israel. Do "occupied" areas have governments and Prime Ministers? And do destitute areas receive trucks loads of food? Are they delivered daily running water and electricity? In exchange the poor poor Fakestinians are firing rockets and missiles at Ashdod and Ashqelon that supply them with daily electricity. Did USA supply Nazi Germany with food, water, electricity, money, weapons etc etc etc? Did USA hold any talks with Osama and Al Qaeda? Would USA accept any foreign interference with US territory? Would China accept any western falsification of history aimed at stealing Chinese history in China? So why would we Jews/Israelis agree to have the UN steal 4000 years of Jewish history in Israel and give away our ancestral homeland which produced the very Christian and Moslem beliefs that the world take for granted - including the malign evil genocidal Polish American ideologist graczek?
12. To #1 Sarah B
Abu Yussef al Yahudi ,   Bue_Aires_Argentina   (01.19.12)
I agree strongly with your post about the bias of the UN against the Jews. But keep in mind that this once respectful organization, was infected with a serious disease, i. e. the majority of Muslims Countries and their friendly 3rd. World Countries, that impose their sick, twisted and racist way in the UNSC, the UNGA, the UNESCO, the FAO, and other Organizations, demonizing constantly the State of Israel, and has transformed the UN in a worthless international body . Regarding the Electric Power that Israel gives to Gaza almost for free, I have a proposition : For each rocket or mortar shell fired to Israel, the Jews will "Turn Off the Switch" during two hours, and, if there will be more than six rockets / shells fired to Israel in a day, this "Switch" will be remained "Off" all the time in this day, regardless the crying of all Non-Jewish countries of the world. What do you think about this idea ?
13. I didn't know Israel was occupying Gaza!
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (01.19.12)
I guess Hamas must be part of the Israeli government then.
14. GOOD
zionist forever   (01.19.12)
As long as rockets are fired at Israeli towns then let them suffer in Gaza and maybe when their suffering reaches a certain point they will realize that they will realize they should stop the rocket fire. Its also good Jerusalem is being cut off from the palestinians, they might demand Jerusalem as their capital but that doesn't entitle them to it.
15. Moslem bloc dominated farce says whatever Arabs want said!
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (01.19.12)
16. They are Egyptians.
Jules   (01.19.12)
17. Hamas and Israel agreed that Israel is not occupying Gaza
John ,   NZ   (01.19.12)
The UN really needs to take its head out from wherever it has it.
18. WHAT A LOAD!!
Brant ,   Hilton Head SC   (01.19.12)
,,,of fully expected, unadulterated UNBS. If this could get any more predictable we could actually ignore it. It's programmed into them. Disgraceful.
19. OMG
Justin ,   Canada   (01.19.12)
Even when there is no occupation, it's because of the occupation.
20. rafah
zivron   (01.19.12)
One cannot understand gazas situation now that Egypt is Islamic and contiguous next to Gaza. The blockade seems invented as supplies could go through rafa.
21. #5 - shhh, don't tell that to the Sudanese MP
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
He still thinks there is no crisis in Gaza and wished a similar "siege" for this own country. Guess he didn't get the memo in time to avoid facts.
22. Food in dire straits?
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
What, is there a stall in Gaza where the food doesn't touch the ceiling yet? Help, call in NATO to help these oppressed people! They have tons of food, their sanitation is only as good as their systems are which they ruined using the infrastructure in an illegal war against Israel, and economic...they just exported tons of products. Never mind that before 2007 when Hamas declared the illegal war that most of Gazan income came from work inside Israel. That ended when terrorism took off. Hmm - anyone care to make a connection here? Didn't the UN just a few months ago admit there was no crisis in Gaza....right after BBC, CNN, many NGOs, and a Sudanese MP?
23. #2 - yeah, Hamas boasted how Muslim Brotherhood opened borde
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
Haniyeh is traveling the region telling everyone how the Muslim Brotherhood ignored Israel and is giving preferential treatment to Hamas/Gazans and opening the border for goods. Hamas also announced how they have tons of investment for new projects, like the promanade on the beach, apartments, new malls, modern infrastructure....and yet the UN claims there is a humanitarian crisis and Egypt wasn't involved at all.
24. UN upset at "food insecurity" in Gaza
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
Guess what? Over half the planet is facing food insecurity now, even rich nations who are at peace. Where is the UN report citing dire straits? There is none.
25. #6 - you do know that Hamas declared war on Israel in 2007
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
right? and that they continue to declare Israel's destruction its ultimate goal, and call for attacks on any "Palestinian" who dares negotiate with Israel for peace, right? What peace strategy are you envisioning that Hamas would accept? I'm saddened that Israel has to deal with myopic idiots from across the ocean who know nothing of the situation, nor want to know, before they open their mouth.
26. #10 - Hamas admitted last week there was no occupation
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
They applauded that no Israelis were in Gaza and said "there is no occupation of Gaza". Who would know best than the people in Gaza, right? Haniyeh did show frustration that people kept insisting there was an occupation there.
27. Hamas happily admitted they fired 11,000 rockets at Israel
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
Isn't that a bit like collective punishment?
28. Maybe they can get a job at Walmart.
Moshe ,   Usa   (01.19.12)
29. Where is UN report on results of 10000Pal missiles on Israel
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (01.19.12)
30. How can "observers" demand a report be presented at the UN?
