1. Don't worry Iran, Obama pulled US ships out of the Gulf...
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (01.19.12)
and is a little too timid to test your threats about closing the Straits.
2. Gee, I wonder what would happen if China stopped lending the
Ken ,   Burmaat Peace   (01.19.12)
US Money? Maybe America couldn't afford Israel any longer, then what, Peace?
3. Israel is at its own !.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (01.19.12)
The whole world economical interests, will not alowe the West to stop Iranian oil exports. """ US and European efforts to curtail Iranian oil exports and revenues """ It is wery obvious that if the West stops Iranian Oil exports, Iran will have no choise than to do the same to the West in Hormuz. The only one who are free to act in this case is Israel, ( and Saudiarabia who has the same intrests as Isra l ). It is Israel who has to act, nobody else has the capasity or willingness. Arn.Sweden.
4. #2 the problem
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (01.19.12)
If the US guaranteed the Chinese a steady supply of oil at fair prices, they would agree to work with the US more closely. Obama refuses to give such assurances so the Chinese are concerned that Obama intends to control oil supply to China as a way of combatting the superior Chinese work ethic and ingenuity.
5. Interesting coincidences
sipahi ,   Istanbul   (01.19.12)
When reading talkbacks on YNET about Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah and Arabs in general, something caught my attention: Jews who do not reside in Israel are far more eager to start wars. According to them, Israel is much stronger than anyone else, even combined and act freely (Sarah B, Arn are just two most apparent examples) However, Jews live in Israel are more cautious. The seem to have a touch with the reality and know the consequences.
6. Time to end the Iranian threats by action.
DT ,   TA Israel   (01.19.12)
Not letters from Obama to Khamanei
7. fair market price
yosef ,   williamsburg   (01.19.12)
#4 So what is the "fair price"? If China claim that "fair" market price is barrel cost without excise tax to them then that is impossible.
8. No 4- Oh ya, I hear China want to buy
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (01.19.12)
Canadian tar-sands oil, Wants Canadian government to put a pipeline through to the west coast. Harper's a good friend of Israel, I guess that's why he's pushing for it, against the wishes of most Canadians. Politians suck!
9. #5. If the truth be told Sipashi NOBODY in their right minds
Tim ,   Brighton   (01.19.12)
Want war inside or outside of Israel. Thats just a crazy notion But what does Israel do in the light of Ahmadinejads repeated blood curdling statements about her destruction? Not to mention Ahmadinejads threats to nationalise the Hormuz and their 'historical' claim of Bahrein and threats to attack Natos frontline in Turkey? And thats what Ahmadinejad has stated openly. Dig a bit deeper and follow some of the speeches of the Imams and RG leadership..and I can only describe them as shocking rabid anti semitic venom. This it seems to me is a sick morally bankrupted regime..on its last legs Are we to assume that all this is hot air and just bellicose rhetoric and stick our collective heads in the sand? This is a regime thats a danger to its people, the region and the world. We hope that Iran turns a corner but in the meantime we have to hope for the best but be prepared for the worst that NOBODY relishes
10. STRAIT OF HORMUZ, IRAN AND SO ON...
A WONDER-SJ. R. ,   MULTIVERSE   (01.19.12)
OF COURSE IN PRINCIPLE, ALSO IN THAT FACT THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IS (PARTLY) IRANIAN BUSINESS, BECAUSE OF IT''S SITUATION ON THE SURFACE OF THE PLANET OF EARTH, WITH IT''S POPULATION/PEOPLE A.S.O....
11. #5 Jew in Israel
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (01.19.12)
We do not think a fight for existance is a matter for macho; If we win, we lose because we do not like killing, and if we lose we are dead. We live in hope that Islam followers will wake up to what their belligerent Imams in Saudi and Egypt have led them to. Peace , Health, Education Jobs, are sacrificed on your behalf to keep the Mullah's powers . Good luck, you will need it.
12. #5: Yes
TaylorT ,   USA   (01.19.12)
Mighty tough, aren't they? Some of these people like to claim that several months out of the year they reside in Isarel. But if the ME explodes in war, guess which house these chicken hawks will choose to inhabit? There's certainly a chance if Israel (or Israel and the US) attack Iran that after a few days of the Iranians blowing off steam, things will calm down. But there's also a chance that a strike on Iran could set in a motion a much larger war in the ME. One that could find Israel attacked from all sides. These tough folks will be far from the fighting when this happens. I've always thought Ynet posters who truly love Israel need to rein in the more militant of their ilk on this talkboad and other places like it. Especially those who repeatedly talk of ethnically cleansing the Palestinians and those who continually blast Israel's only friend (the US.) The two people you mentioned are certainly the worse in this regard. They do their cause no favor.
13. No. 12 great example of a balanced comment.
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (01.19.12)
14. #2, easy answer
Danny   (01.19.12)
The RMB would appreciate and their economy collapse.
15. no. 9
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (01.19.12)
9: not very balanced, let me balance it for you... just add But what do Palestinians do in the light of Israeli repeated blood curdling statements about her destruction? Not to mention Israeli threats to nationalise the West Bank and their 'historical' claim of Palestine and threats to attack Natos frontline in Turkey? And thats what Israelis has stated openly. Dig a bit deeper and follow some of the speeches of the Rabis and FM leadership..and I can only describe them as shocking rabid anti semitic venom. This it seems to me is a sick morally bankrupted regime..on its last legs Are we to assume that all this is hot air and just bellicose rhetoric and stick our collective heads in the sand? This is a regime thats a danger to its people, the region and the world. We hope that Israel turns a corner but in the meantime we have to hope for the best but be prepared for the worst that NOBODY relishes
16. No.14 good reason for
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (01.19.12)
China to invest in cash stuck oil countries like guess who? Nice to see you back Danny, where are you these days?
17. #10 Of course....
Phil ,   Ireland   (01.19.12)
...in principle, also in fact the Strait of Hormuz is partly the rest of the world's business, because of it's situation on the surface of the planet Earth. Without it YOUR life will get a lot more difficult!
18. #8 - Ken - Burma is not yet at peace
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
and the Junta govt has no intention of installing a democracy nor handing over any of their power, despite releasing activists.
19. #10 - but the Straits of Hormuz are not Iranian sovereign
William ,   Israel   (01.19.12)
and since it resides in Intl waters, out of Iran's legal jurisdiction, it is not the Iranian's business. If the affect something will have on its people is the guiding characteristic. then the US does indeed have a right to be in the Persian Gulf because energy flow affects the American people directly.
20. Since the US, Israel has already declared economic war ...
Robert ,   Australia   (01.20.12)
...on Iran and daily threaten the country with military action, if the boot were on the other foot and it was the US in Iran's position, they would have no hesitation in blocking the strait. Iran has a responsibility to its people to do everything necessary to combat those that have already declared economic war. Make no mistake, the US during the Cuban "crisis" committed acts of piracy on Russian ships so to criticise Iran for threatening a lesser action is hypocrisy.
