2. As a diplomat he can`t speak otherwise
Joe ,   Canada   (01.22.12)
The show of moderation by the brotherhood to keep American & other western aid flowing in the face of dire economic conditions is likely to wear off as the more extremist members & those of the salafist group use upmanship to takeover decision making. Since the economic situation is not likely to improve even with outside help the more radical factions are likely to get into control sooner or later unless the army preempts with a coup on the pretext of restoring order. Ambassador Levanon cannot speak his mind publicly about the deeply worrying issues of the Brotherhood being in power. He is limited to the only approaches a diplomat can express to try improve a bad situation. He does not want to agravate the situation by being too pessimistic or hostile to the new regime. Trying to limit the damage for lack of a better outcome in the short run.

That they Army will be in control, since they have the firepower & manpower and aren't about to relinquish it The Army has been in full charge since Farouk was kicked out, it's going to stay status quo Despite the revoltuion, half the poplation will still be living on $2 a day,per capita, cemeteries will house those that can't afford to be among the living The only thing that's changing is diminishing tourism, which was at one time,a considerable portion of Egypts income The Arab Spring came, Tourism went, out the window

5. The Egyptian consensus: hatred of Israel
(01.22.12)
Egyptians are filled with rage after losing two wars against Israel. In their suicidal hatred of Jews and Israel, they forgot the painful lessons and are eager for another round. War with Egypt is only a matter of time and depends only on how strong or weak Israel is perceived by the other side.
6. Former Ambassador says talk to Brotherhood
Ed ,   Hailey   (01.22.12)
They said they'll honor peace agreements what's there to talk about. The best way of insuring continued peace is to treat the Palestinians a bit better, ie. stop further "settlement" building, and TALK to the Palestinians.
7. AMERICA SPOKE TO JAPANESE
BEN JABO ,   ISRAEL   (01.22.12)
