OK the damage is minimal (??)
BUT... it does show how technologically unprepared
Israel is for such cyber attacks.
I agree that total protection against
malware and hackers (internal or external) is not feasible. This is especially true for the Internet.
Sensitive installations like hospitals, food processing plants, banking, etc
must have internal high speed fibre links in any case.
These fibre links are to be kept separate, totally isolated from the Internet: an "Israel-net" internally connected to sites located ONLY in Israel.
Of course even this isolation will not totally prevent damage from mal-wishers or terrorists located in Israel.
The penalty for such intrusion into the Israel-net should be extreme , and mandatory:
1 year mandatory prison sentences for ALL hackers that are Israeli citizens.
10 year (or more !) prison sentences for non-Israelis.
