Al   (01.28.12)
nature of a proud Jew and Israel the world will applaud. Try to sell the world a proud resoulute take no BS Jew, then they will heap scorn on you. Sell them a nebby piss in your pants whinny psshead of a Jew like those shown in hollywood,(Woody Allen etc) or a shoah Jew then everybody applauds. The world loves a beaten poor victim or a nebby shmuck and we Jews play it to a tee.
2. #1 Al
Michael ,   Haifa   (01.28.12)
The content and style of your talkback would indicate that you are a foul-mouthed ignoramus
3. #2 I tell the truth and you damn well know it
Al   (01.28.12)
If I offend your sense of polite talk well its just too bad isnt it.
4. As I've said before... It priobably won't win.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.28.12)
More nominations to her films than any other country, but not a single Oscar.
5. #Al
Marcelo ,   São Paulo - Brasil   (01.28.12)
Oh Al...your sense of humour is very dark...Shall we make a movie about it?People would piss their pants and we would pocket a lot of cash!Indeed!
6. ISRAELI FILMS
H ROSEN ,   PA USA   (01.28.12)
No. 1 is right on ...as long as the film has something not so good to say about Israel and it's motives everyone likes it and may even award it. One of the most egregious films doing this was MUNICH...where Spielberg equated Palestinian murders to Israeli responses. Spielberg has been going downhill since JAWS..His latest WAR HORSE is nothing short of ridiculous. Notice that all of the films up for awards show some measure of Israili perfidy...while the Palestinians are ever suffering

A very bitter old man, is Al.
8. All these nominated Israel movies are still crap
Marco ,   Spain   (01.28.12)
They may be done artistically better but all deal with politically correct topics the opposite of reality in Israel or the Arab hostility against Israel, and made by leftists One of the nominated movies "Orchestra" I believe the name was, depicted an Egyptian orchestra arriving to perform in Israel and how badly they are treated by Jews while on the other hand the orchestra Arab members are shown to be the most humane on this planet. The truth is the exact opposite. It won several foreign film festivals awards. 10 years ago there was an obscure and wonderful Israeli movie "Under Water" that portrayed the struggle of a teenage girl between the religious and secular life on the background of her divorced parents. The subject was a real one, actors were low key, played very well and believable but it wasn't even nominated for anything.
9. #8 The Band's Visit
Cynthia ,   USA   (01.28.12)
From your description it seems you didn't watch the movie. It depicted a slice of life in Israel. The Egyptian band members were treated to Israeli hospitality. No hostility, no violence, unbiased. Still, I believe this gem of a movie was banned in Egypt.
10. Time to cut Funding to Israeli Films
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (01.29.12)
Time to cut Israeli goverment Funding to Israeli Films that are anti Israel.
11. There's also a TRUE story Holocaust/Shoah film fr. Poland !!
Ed R. ,   Wilmington, De.,USA   (01.30.12)
No one seems to be talking about Agnieszka Holland (director, Europa Europa) 's latest offering which is also nominated for best foreign picture (i am hoping for an Israeli or Polish win in this regard). It is called "In Darkness" and is a film about Jews who survived the Shoah actually hiding in sewers. A would-be righteous among the nations Catholic sewer worker sets off not with the most altruistic intentions to steal from the family he is asked to help but then has a change of heart and actually HELPS them survive, at great risk to himself & his family. It looks like a fantastic film and I wish there was more being written about it now that it is a pertinent subject with the Holocaust/Shoah and the victims being remembered/memorialized now 70 years since the start of that awful chapter in our histories and affecting nearly all of us until today as well. There has NEVER been MORE HOLOCAUST DENIAL in history as there is now. It is STILL an important story to be told. My european family was wiped out entirely!
12. Please change the subjects
rinah   (12.30.12)
There are many wonderful subjects in Israel to film about other than war and violence. Seek and you shall find it.
