I'm very proud of these young American Jews. As a graduate of Taglit and other Israel programs, this article made me emotional remember the strong bonds created between Diaspora Jews and Israelis on exactly these types of trips. It is those bonds, among others, that helped me make the decision to make Aliyah this summer and serve the Jewish homeland in the IDF. I hope these programs continue to get the support they need to develop these relationships between Jews inside and outside of our land. Am Yisrael Chai!

American Jewish men over Shabbat. They were touring Israel under a sponsored programme. This gave them the opportunity to understand the perspective of the traditional Orthodox residing in villages east of the Green Line, a perspective very different, for instance, than the one presented by the liberal/left of Tel Aviv. Israel is a small country but the differences in outlook and personal histories of its population is quite extraordinarily varied. Such sponsored programmes invariably appear to have a positive impact on those young Jews living in the Galut.

Great idea. My wife and I are envious! Wish they had this 35 years ago! I'll try to find the Masa sight to see how this great project can be supported financially Please write more articles on projects like this. They are very....uplifting!
