7. definition of "Spring"
mary of bethany ,   singapore   (01.31.12)
Spring in Arab countries is a 180 degree difference from the Springs in all over the world. (Even in their arab dictionaries.) Spring in Arab countries is a prelude to the coming Winter, with snow-storm "springing" up unexpectedly. Spring to Arab means snow-storm "Springing up". This "Spring" is not your kind of "Spring". meaning of "Spring": done quickly with energy or by force. eg. "spring a trap" means to trick someone with a sudden well-planned trap. welcome to the world of Arab's "Spring"!
8. Egyptian Arms Help from USA
a.d.e@mac.com ,   London   (01.31.12)
Stop supporting them and the Russians will step straight back in.
9. To # 8 a.d.e@mac.com , London
Abu Yussef al Yahudi ,   Bue_Aires_Argentina   (01.31.12)
Your post is the smartest in the talkbacks. I strongly agree with you, stoping the flow of money by the US, will be quickly replaced by the Russian aid, to gain more influence in the M.E. - Of course it will be VERY dangerous to Israel.
10. should have been done the day Mubarak was kicked out
zionist forever   (01.31.12)
Good old Obama took an American puppet dictator for 30 years and had been involved in mediating with palestinians and agreed to crack down on terrroists in favor of an unknown which has now proven to be a bunch of islmists. The day Obama did everything possible to kick out Muabarak the US should have put a freeze on all aid until we had a better idea of what the new government would be like. Instead first thing Obama did was write off $1 billion of Egyptian debts to the US, give about $300 million in cash handout to make up for the losses to tourism during the uprisings and promise lots more money. When Assad goes is Obama going to start throwing money and weapons at the new Syrian government?
11. Jew 1 at #1
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (01.31.12)
When we no longer have a Muslim president.
12. the wiser way
tom ,   toronto, canada   (01.31.12)
it's much wiser to keep egypt dependent on american aid than to cut them off. $2 billion sounds like a lot of money, but a single day's worth of deployment for the us army pays for a year's worth of aid to egypt. (israel would be about a day and a half.) and aid comes with economic and political strings attached. the recipient has to buy american, which creates jobs and generates taxes. and washington gets direct influence (such as a veto over how arms are used), and indirect influence ("or we cut off your, uh, aid"). if used wisely, it's money well spent.
13. wiser way = tyranical support?
yosef ,   williamsburg   (01.31.12)
No...spending of billions on two wars and billions in aid to rogue and immoral governments is NOT the correct way. Do we truly believe there aren't 3-4 governments that have solid intelligence organizations that can properly remove individuals from this earth? Like Assad, Meshal, Tantawi, Abbas, Nasrallah? Those folks pushing for reform and protesting everywhere now see that they have created situations they really like - anarchy and audacity. Bring Moshiach now!
14. Not One More Dollar to Egypt Ever Again!
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (01.31.12)
Behind the scenes, America worked to oust U.S. ally, moderate Mubarak in order to bring to power the Muslim Brotherhood whose stated goal is the DESTRUCTION of civilization and global Islamic conquest. The result: Innocent Americans suffer, including the son of US Secretary for Transportation Ray LaHood. This is deliberate SPITTING IN THE FACE of the Obama/Clinton administration. Whilst billions of dollars are gifted to Egypt, many Americans are jobless; their employment benefits have run out; they have been unable to get work. Rendered homeless, some Americans are now living in tent cities. Shame on U.S. leaders for giving billions of dollars to Egypt instead of taking care of desperate, neglected Americans!
15. Since Mubarak's Ouster, Egypt has become aFar more Dangerous
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (01.31.12)
place. It is no longer safe for tourists, especially for Jews and ALL other non-Muslims. Since moderate Mubarak's ouster, Muslim attacks on Christians, their homes, churches and businesses have increased enormously. Muslim male kidnappings of Christian female children has also increased enormously. G-d help them!
16. #9 - Indeed, but we still have to worry about them holding
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.31.12)
Our citizens. Russia aside, this sort of behaviour is unacceptable. Our passports specifically request that the bearer be niether hindered nor delayed and we expect that request to be honoured.
17. No vacuum. Iran, Russia, China waiting (End)

Its tribal innate hate as described by freud everyone needsan enemy the policy is prevention of catastrophe that is the mantra of the humanitarian interventionalist . Worst case endpoint is the nuclear mining of the sinai desert this will ensure a demilitirized zone for a few centuries,
19. Tell egypt US will Tripple aid to Israel if Americans not
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (01.31.12)
let go and will support return of Sinai. They will get the point.
20. Start where it hurts: Aid and Food.
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (01.31.12)
Why should American tax payers (even if it is mostly just the rich) be giving money to these thugs? Without a dictator over them, they'll simply run amok, killing, threatening, repressing and raping. This is their history. This is their lot. They took down their overlord and now all you can expect is devolution into yet another pathetic african nation. Bye Egypt, the brief visit was...well....interesting.
21. The truth
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.31.12)
Some people argue there was nothing that could be done to prevent the fall of Mubarak. That is was a "done deal" that the "writing was on the wall." And some say that if Obama hadn't withheld support from Mubarak when he did, that the US would currently have no influence in Egypt now (and wouldn't have been able to come to our rescue when Israeli diplomats were attacked a few months ago.) I suppose this is all true, but couldn't the US have invaded Egypt? Troops were coming home from Iraq so the US had plenty of troops sitting around (what's the use of having such fine troops if they never fight wars?) So the next time some lefty liberal argues that Obama couldn't possibly have saved Mubarak, remind them that the US has nukes and most certainly could have threatened Egypt with destruction if Mubarak was kicked out of office. Makes sense to me and Ben Jabo.
22. BIG DEAL
Arik Silverman ,   Chicago USA   (02.02.12)
Economic "Aid" is less than 2 cents per person per day. The military "Aid" might buy one or two of the most advanced fighter planes. Only the generals who pocket the money will suffer (of course Congress realizes that, and those are the ones they're trying to bribe).
