32. some Jews just dont get it ...
alsky ,   toronto   (01.31.12)
maybe they prefer to be dhimmi ? viva Israel
33. One of these days this will happen!
Judd Rusnak ,   Sydney Australia   (01.31.12)
They will live in a Jewish "getho", like their brothers in Yemen, their numbers will dwindle to 200 (from 1500), and they will be forgotten .
34. #17 and #25 - They didn't have the ability to go to Israel.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.31.12)
Read up on the White Paper. Even if they had wanted to, most of our ancestors couldn't have legally done this.
35. #3 - Sphardim are Spanish Jews. These are Mizrahim.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (01.31.12)
They are "Eastern Jews". Sphardi is used by some people as a catch-all term for all dark Jews - this is what you are doing. Sphardim also generally have their own kinds of rituals and customs that are different from Ashkenazim, as do Mizrahim and Beta Israel.
36. Tunisian Jews in Tunisia
Myriam ,   Tunis tunisia   (01.31.12)
I wonder if some people are bothered by Jews and and Arabs living in peace in an Arab country, like it used to be those people are Tunisians of Jewish faith ,if they lived anywhere else that is what they would be Tunisians in exile , but it doesn't feed in the narrative of fear of course
37. They won't be the first
Paul ,   Jersuaelm   (01.31.12)
Jews to be massacred in a Islamic country. Don't say we didn't tell you so. Goodbye dear brothers.
38. Jordan is the Real Eastern Palestine
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (01.31.12)
This entire article is absurd. The head of Hamas is in Jordan and is speaking wotj the king. His statement: Jordan is Jordan and the rest of the area to the Med.is Palestinian. All agreed, with smiles..sort of smirks. Okay, so no Jews remain after the Jihad is launched, and/or in the new state of Pales..the 67 borders to the Jordanian border. Oh, Tunisian Jews who left in 48 and afterwards till be allowed to go home. Am I stupid or am I stupid? Ill sell you the Williamsburg Bridge. This is the only format: 700, 000 Jews are compensated for their losses when evicted, and the right of return is based on the UN242 formula..both sides agree on an individual basis. Oh BTW, wasn't Jordan previously trans Jordan and prior, part of the Mandate (Briitish) a homeland for the Jews per the Balfour?
39. Keep Haaretz open longer... occupants.

40. May Hashem Protect All Jews
The Chef ,   Israel   (01.31.12)
Whatever choices they make there, for now, may they always have Divine protection and have the option/courage/support to join us in our sovereign homeland! They are still our fellow Jews and are holy no matter what country they live in. If their situation worsens i pray they will have all the necessary strengths to move past their initial decisions and make Aliyah. May G-d bless all Jews!

At least consider new Zealand a beutiful country that would benefit from some Jewish meshoogeners.
42. Islamic violence
Beary White ,   Norway   (01.31.12)
I start to wander again, how can they be so stupid!! They are jews in an islamic country, and EVERYONE on the earth knows what muslims want to do with non-muslims!! But some jews actually lives in a fantasy world, like the leftist in Norway, dumb, dumb, dumb. We will note shed a tear for your stupidity...

He has been very quiet since. He helped professionally in a hospital then had an Islamic mob threatening him and had to leave. Some reward, some welcome.! Wonder what he has done with his " I love Lybia " T shirt?
46. Please stay where you are : )
Robert ,   Farmington,wv   (02.01.12)
Please stay where you are at , just more for the Jews living in Israel , but remember when your business are burned , your homes are burned don't come running back to Jerusalem. demanding homes and jobs.
47. #3
Chimo ,   USA   (02.01.12)
Got any facts to back up your lying claims about the Mossad blowing up synogogues or Jewish owned businesses? Scum like you make these types of claims all the time and yet never have any evidence to back their claims up. You are a typical anti semitic coward
48. dont educate jew haters
Chimo ,   USA   (02.01.12)
The little coward #3 is nothing but a provacateur who posts lies on top of lies just to get a reaction. Either call him what he is or don't respond

51. Tolerant Tunisia
Helen ,   London, UK   (02.01.12)
Absolutely good for them! I'm not Jewish, but have lived/worked in both Tunisia and Turkey and found both to be wonderful countries with gracious, tolerant people...which is why I take any and every opportunity to big up both. I went to Cochin, India in 2009 and the Jewish community there will, sadly, soon be no more due to the age/tiny number of its population. I hope Tunisia's Jewish community continues to flourish for generations to come.
52. why?
wth? ,   none of your busines   (02.01.12)
why should they move?.. muslims and jews are brothers. you need to understand muslims dont hate jews, some of our prophet were jews.. we just dont support isreal b/c of unhumanity of it neither does the real jews.
53. Gilles-Jacb Lellouche
Jihane ,   Paris France   (02.01.12)
Gilles-Jacob Lellouche lived for nearly 20 years in Paris. He came here to study; married a Tunisian Jew here, had kids here, but decided to return home to Tunisia though he had a carreer because he missed his country,. I encourage everyone who goes to Tunisia to visit his rastaurant "Mama Lily" in the suburb of La Goulette/ Halq al-Wadi. You'll meet a happy and a charismatic man. To the one who called him a dhimmi: shame on you !
54. #21 yehuda
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.01.12)
Wrong. According to Jewish law they are Jews. Their culture may be a great part arab, but their religion is Judaism. Mizrahim (“Easterners”) in plain Hebrew. Not Muslims but Jews, in plain English.
55. Ashkenazim
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.01.12)
I find it interesting that those who castigate the Tunisians Jews for making their own decision and staying in the land where they were born and grew up, seem to be all Ashkenzim. We are speaking about religion; we are also speaking of culture. I can see why Mizrahim would feel more comfortable in the culture in which they grew up (arabic). And I cannot see how I can tell them what they ‘should’ do as they are the ones living there day to day. They are the ones who experience being there and must decide whether it is good or not. Yes, another Nazi Germany can always happen. But from what I read, not even the shadow of the beginnings of Nazi Germany seem to be happening now in Tunisia. Many posters denigrate posts by those who have never lived in Israel. Maybe we shouldn’t denigrate the decisions of those who live where we have never lived.
56. #46
Dan ,   USA   (02.01.12)
Mr Farmington, West Virginia... what do you mean "don't come running back to Jerusalem?" Who are you to tell Tunisian Jews what to do or to speak on behalf of Jerusalem? If you are an American, act like it or give up your citizenship and move to some stolen home in East Jerusalem and take over some stolen job.
57. this helps our people
our brothers ,   long island usa   (02.01.12)
They will be useful Sayanim for future operations. this manufactured dispute is obviously intended to make it appear that they are opponents or arguing with Israel, so they can serve as Sayanim more easily and without needless suspicion.
58. #52 wth
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.01.12)
If you are speaking of yourself, you are a rare muslim indeed. Many muslims use Israel as a cover for jew hatred. Most are more direct and are very clear about their jew hatred. Wherever you may see a demonstration "against Israel" you will also see signs calling for death to "the jews". Those are the honest ones.
59. #56 dan
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.01.12)
I'm not sure where you're coming from, so let me post a reminder: When the Jews were kicked out of Jerusalem in 1948, Jordan brought in arabs to take their place, as well as even more arabs to secure their 'possession' of the area. So who stole from whom?

i think its safe to say that the tunisian jewish community made its decision. these are the few who are left behind...
