1. Dear G-d in heaven
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.12)
How can I contribute to this elderly gentleman's care? Just tell me where to send a check.
2. To Sarah
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (02.04.12)
You dont have to. Here the state takes care of the old folks, better than in the US. The social security will pay most of the cost of a live in care giver. I think the son was lying.
3. Sorry Sarah, but
A ,   Belgium   (02.04.12)
this just proves, once again, that there is no god in heaven.
4. What G-d Sarah B?
Avi ,   Israel   (02.04.12)
Our Jewish one?
5. To: Nos. 3 and 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.12)
There is a G-d. There has to be. No one would have put the Jewish people through what we've been through without a purpose. Without my belief, I cannot justify our history. There has to be a reason. As intellectually inclined as I am, I do believe that. If Albert Einstein believed in G-d, who am I to disagree?
6. To: Susan at No. 2
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.04.12)
I know I don't have to. But I want to. Where's the harm in that?
7. Sarah B
OrlyR ,   NYC   (02.04.12)
If Albert Einstein believed in G-d, who am I to disagree? 150% right - I am making that my Facebook status.
8. For imbeciles to believe.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.04.12)
That's the weirdest argument for g's existence I ever heard.
9. #6 Sarah B ..."Where's the harm in that?"
Avi ,   Israel   (02.04.12)
Sarah, the problem is that you Americans have a tendency to flash your money around for your own satisfaction. You like to look down at people and we in Israel have our pride...
10. Einstein & god
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.04.12)
I see only with deep regret that god punishes so many of his children for their numerous stupidities , for wich he himself can be held responsible ; in muy opinion only his non-existence could excuse him " Einstein in his own words , Anne Rooney , p. 111 . "The idea of a personal god is quite alien to me and seems even naive" ibid p108 .
11. # 5 Sarah B ! Einstein did not believe
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (02.04.12)
in a religious God,Einstein did not put on Tefilin, and did not marry a nice Jewish girl,(the girl he merried was a nice serbian girl) Einstein did not believe that the God who created the Universe, would tell the Jews, what to eat and what not to eat,the God that has to look after hundreds of billions of planets would deal with such trivial things.
12. to #1 GOD BLESS YOU!!!
Isaak ,   Greece   (02.04.12)
God bless you #1 (number 1) for your giving attitude. Real Jewish attitude. G-D never forgets!
13. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.05.12)
But Einstein did believe in G-d, one which would not roll dice with the universe. I, too, do not think -- what with everything going on to deal with -- that G-d cares if I eat a cheeseburger. Yet, I choose not to eat cheeseburgers. Go figure.
14. to 9
john Darren ,   Cairns-Australia   (02.05.12)
Avi,Sarah does live in Israel for half the year and the US the rest of the year. She pays taxes in both countries.Remember she is Jewish no matter where she lives. If she wants to help out a human in need as this old man obviously is , why put her down.
15. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.05.12)
I am a Jew. I believe in tzedaka. Do you have a problem with that?
16. Einstein married several nice girls
Isabella ,   Tampa USA   (02.05.12)
but despite his failings, he did believe in G-d. Read, read, read!
17. According to the Torah
Isabella ,   Tampa USA   (02.05.12)
and the Yeshua (Jesus Christ) we are our brothers keeper.
18. To #9 Avi- Get over yourself
Rachel ,   US   (02.05.12)
What does your pride have to do with someone wanting to help an elderly man? It's not about you!
19. Susan # 2
Lioness ,   Israel   (02.05.12)
Please confirm that the state takes care of a caregiver. We are paying for expensive plans for this reason in case we would ever need it and would like to cancel these plans that are too expensive for us which we would certainly do if we knew that the state would take care of us
20. Dear Sarah B. U.S.A/israel
Ilana ,   Merkaz   (02.05.12)
Thank you for the check - but as you were told the Social Services of Israel will cetainly take care of this poor man. But it would be great that, instead of your money, you could give your time. How about spending your next vacation in the Holy Land and volunteering to be with this old blind man for a while, reading him newspapers and taking him out for walks ???? Believe me I am sure that he would appreciate this personal attention a lot !!
21. 10 &11 Einstein s words...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.05.12)
Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind. However regarding the Jewish relligion ,it s guide, The Tora is a mine of science. Pasteur discovered the method to cure diseases by using the same bacteria that causes them, after having read the translation of a Gemara " tractates of the seasons" regarding immunisation. See "Science outscienced" by Zamir Cohen.
22. Einstein & god
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.05.12)
I cannot imagine a god who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation , whose purposes are modeled after our own - a god , in short , who is but a reflection of human frailty . ibid p 108 . "i believe in Spinoza's god who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists , not in a god who concerns himself with the fate and actions of human beings" ibid p 109 . In short , not the god Jews believe in .
23. To: Ilana at No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.05.12)
Actually, dear, I spend roughly six months of the year in Israel. Both my parents -- now gone, z"l -- were concentration camp survivors. When in Israel, I spend a great deal of time visiting elderly concentration camp survivors -- there are fewer and fewer each time. I also spend time with elderly Jews who are not concentration camp survivors. Whatever happiness these people may derive from having someone visit them, I assure you that I derive ten-fold, and have learned so much. I would be more than happy to visit this old, blind man, and sit and read to him for as long as he likes.
24. Isabella , he married only two times
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.05.12)
not several . He did'nt believe in the god the Jews believe in . Read .
25. #1 & #6 "Yad Ezra V'Shulamit"
Borislava ,   Sofia, Bulgaria   (02.05.12)
26. to #19
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (02.05.12)
Our family checked this out because my mother in law is 90 years old and very frail. The state pays about 2700 NIS for the caregivers salary, the family is required to give her 400NIS in cash for walking around money(this was as of about 2 years ago). It depends on the condition of the elderly person, of course the state wont pay if the person can take care of themself. There is a long list of requirements, such as a weekly day off and they get off for their national holidays. There are agencies which will make the arrangements for you. If you dont qualify for a full time caregiver they have women who will come to your house for a certain numbers of hours a week, if they are holocaust survivors, as my mother in law is, they get more hours. This situation was a case of the son not looking out for his elderly father, not lack of money. Mayber he fired the caregiver and somehow pocketed the money.
27. Einstein and G-D
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.05.12)
There is only ONE G-D.Einstein believed in the same G-D Jews do. However,he did not experience the connection that each human being that BELIEVES in G-D has, because he lacked this education. Imagine... a human being, not believing in love, because he never experienced love in his life...Just the same. All Jewish Neshama s believe.
28. Einstein did'nt believe in a god
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.05.12)
who punishes or rewards [ the god of the believing Jews ] but in something very different . People have to read what i wrote , and not write their "wishfull thinkings" as something that is the truth [ for them ] . Red mir nischt an daan krenk
29. Punishment and rewards.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.05.12)
Here a secular saying: "What goes around comes around". Confirms in softer words, the Jewish belief of reward and punishment.
30. Add. to 29 Life after death.
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.05.12)
More and more scientists ,taking this seriously, are examining clinically death people ,who came back to life. Many experienced about the same: passing a tunnel to an extraordinary light...and loved ones accompanying the deceased to Gan Eden. See Science outscienced by Zamir Cohen.
