1. Might be a bit difficult from Afghanistan
Haim ,   TA   (02.08.12)
Because thats where they belong. There is a system of law in this country, if they cant obide by the laws then they are free to leave. I would suggest either Tehran or Afghanistan where they will feel at home.
2. Are you kidding?
Dawn ,   Maale Adummim   (02.08.12)
Where are they getting the money to sue the police? From their kashrut franchise? From the government dole? Should we just let them throw bleach and dirty diapers on us? If you have behaved in a criminal manner , then you should be treated like a criminal. You don't get a pass because you've done it in the name of religion. Here's a grass roots solution: boycott Badatz Eda Hareidit and cut off their yeshivas from the public dole. If the politicians won't do it, then refuse to pay taxes until they do. Enough is enough.
3. How dare they use my money for this
Larry ,   Or Yehuda   (02.08.12)
I gave them money from my hard earned salary to buy food. If they do not want food, let them give me back my money so that I can buy food for myself.
4. #1 Did you even read the article?
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (02.08.12)
In this particular case, the police jumped the gun. They arrested an innocent man - other reports on the matter say that the judge publicly berated the police, and apologized to Shapira for what was, in effect ,a wrongful arrest. False arrest is a crime, at least if you have enough time and money to press charges and prove it. The Eda Haredit is *not* above the law, but neither is the police.
5. Oh - so they'll make use of the 'Zionist system'..?
Ari   (02.08.12)
...when it suits them!
6. Who funds these people?
rebecca ,   Modiin   (02.08.12)
If they get a stipend from the government it's not that big. and as they are anti-Zionist, hopefully they dont get our money. This is a small group of crazies that are giving Haradim, Jews and Israel a bad name.
7. What’s the problem?
dan ,   Brooklyn   (02.08.12)
So according to most of the comments on this site the only people in Israel who are not entitled to sue for justice under the law are the Charieim? Innocent Chariedim can be falsely arrested just for fun, or to send a message? And when they sue the cops we bash them, we poke fun at them and ask “where are they getting the money from to sue”? When’s the last time you asked that of anyone else in Israel who sued someone? I am a religious Jew and I thank god that I do not live in the secular state of Israel, I have more freedom to practice my religion in the USA.
8. They don't get taxpayer money
Eli ,   Beit Shemesh   (02.08.12)
The Eida Chareidit funds their own schools privately, as does the entire Satmar school system. They also do not use the subsidized medical clinics. So actually, not only are they not getting taxpayer money, but everytime they buy an apartment or even groceries, they pay taxes to fund the PhD stipends of 6000 NIS per month, which are 12 times as much as the kollel stipends provided by the government.
9. Eda Haredit suing police in an Israeli court,
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (02.08.12)
a court,they don't recognize as legal, incredible,did Musiach come ?.
10. Big brave Haredim
Scarborough1414 ,   Scarborough, Canada   (02.10.12)
When a Haredi gets sick, like a heart attack, does he go to a Zionist hospital? When there, does he (or his family) demand that the doctor be shomrei shabbos? Of course not. When they need the seculars, then that's o.k. When they don't need them, the seculars can go to h-e-double toothpicks.
