Really? I must echo the sentiments of Danny's post at No. 2. Did Anat Kam have dual citizenship? No. Did Mordechai Vanunu have dual citizenship? No. Please understand that there are those individuals whose love of Israel --and secondary citizenship in Israel -- exceeds the place of their birth. I know, because I am one of them. Give us duals some credit, please. Israeli-born people may, in some way, take things for granted. Those of us born in the Diaspora who acquire Israeli citizenship do not. In some ways, we are far better Israeli citizens than those who are native born.

Israel reaps the advantage of having dual nationals -- who are fluent in their native language and can easily assimilate into the society of whatever country they come from -- and Israel's intelligence services do not seem to mind terribly much exploiting THAT .... but foreign born Israelis who wish to serve, protect and defend the Jewish state in elite units -- all of a sudden that's a big no-no? Stupid policy. Please name one foreign-born Israeli who ever sold guns to Arabs, or stole massive quantities of top-secret documents. Just one. If you hold a Canadian passport of permanent resident card and go fight for Isreal or other nations, stop using Canada as a get out of jail free card. Leave Canada forever and don't come back. You fight for other nations and not for Canada.

I would acttually prefer Israel to automate some subs and have as few submariners on board as possible. I am still upset about the loss of life that accompanied the sinking of the Dakar.
