1. In an ideal world...
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.10.12)
This Druze portion would either become part of Israel (willingly) governed by Israeli Law or would enter into a semiautonomous government jointly ruled by Israel, Israeli Druze and the former Syrian Druze (let them figure out the details) with at least part of the Golan given over (not the part with the wineries of course). The Kurdish area would unify with Iraqi Kurdistan and then the Kurds would be even closer to the goal of a Free Kurdistan. Hopefully this would embolden the Iranian Kurds and they would also declare independence. As for the Alawites and the rest, let them tear each other apart. It would be nice if Mossad had a way of getting ahold of most of the weapons everyone's concerned about.
2. #1 Henry you're out of your mind!
Rachel ,   US   (02.10.12)
There should be no discussion of giving up the Golan.
3. The common fate of artificial countries
Joe ,   Canada   (02.10.12)
Heterogenous populations gathered under oppression , be it political oppression like in former Yougoslavia or colonial oppression like in Syria, Lebanon, Irak are artificial creations with no unifying national values. And under dictatorship regimes they are constantly under internal strains to make geography better fit ethnicity.
4. Syria dont will atack Israel because...
ROSENVALD ,   BRASIL   (02.10.12)
Israel will destroy the Assad army, and the rebels will take Damascus in one month. Will be more easy than Lybia. Assad need your guns to tray survive against the rebels.
5. Strange as it is, you want Assad to stay
Elan ,   Toronto, Canada   (02.10.12)
Last thing Israel needs is some Muslim Bro being labeled as a peace loving leader by the UN to demand the Golan back

10. #6. There was never ever a palestine
joseph ,   Montreal, Canada   (02.11.12)
I do not know what you use as history books or where you get your distorted history, but there was never ever in the last 5,000 years a country or region called palestine. That was an invention of the British that you believed blindly.
11. Syria was always an artificial creation of the French...
Scott ,   USA   (02.12.12)
It was doomed to fail from the start, but out of the five ethnic areas carved out of the former Syrian Mandate, only Lebanon received independence. Jebel Druze, Latakia (the capital of the Alawite homeland, and Kurdestan in the east should all be split off, leaving the Sunni Arabs to kill each other off in the rest of the country.
12. joseph #10 Sami is technically right
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.12.12)
The Golan was part of the region and the Mandate, that the British gave to the French, even though the Jews had bought the entire Golan in 1890s. The Rothchild family bought and gave it to the Zionists.
13. So, what about the tribes of Israel?
