You might get squashed by Iran and Russia. Just be a little careful.
3. @2 Russia would have no hesitation if it wanted to do so
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (02.12.12)
look at Chechnya. Iran would if they could as they have done to Lebanon."the southern border of Iran" Cant remember any" elites"massing outside the Russian embassy as Grozny was flattened or half a million Chechens killed.. Ditto for Sudan. Dont worry Bishop Tutu did not notice anything either after all they were only slaughtering Christians and animists.

7. a 'newspaper claims......
tiki ,   belgium   (02.12.12)
Again the "Mossad" is sharing it's secrets with a newpaper? Who eats all this bs. All the scandals in the British Press just shows what a pityfull lot they are. Posh language but peepot morality and nothing worthwile to write about, so thank Gd. for the villain Israel, the fake Palestinians and now their latest 'trumpcard......the 'secrets of the Mossad.
8. Yummy
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.12.12)
Not surprising, though. In case anyone hasn't noticed, there have been ongoing disputes between Azerbaijan and Iran. There is no love lost between the two countries. More importantly, it would appear that Israel does indeed have a staging base north of Iran, which is something that doubtless comes as a very unhappy surprise to the criminal regime in Teheran. It is also something I have privately suspected, but could never prove. Now I can. Sweet. The mullahs better go back to the drawing board. Their situation has now become extremely grave. And you know what? I'm betting that Azerbaijan is not the only asset Israel has bordering Iran. There are likely quite a few more. No one really appreciates the Islamic Republic.

Not likely to happen, given all the oil that Azerbaijan has. You'll see the West enter the fray in a heartbeat. Your knowledge of geopolitics -- and the politics of oil -- is quite deficient. Back to school for you! Second grade would be about right.
10. The neat thing about the Mossad...
moshe ,   Tivon, Israel   (02.12.12)
The neat thing about the Mossad, one cannot tell the whether the story originates: 1. from an over-enthusiatic, over optimistic know nothing Israel supporter: ...Israel has satellites, etc OR 2. from a know nothing Israel-HATER ... Israel is not involved. it is the USA, GB, Germany, etc. OR 3. actually from the Mossad (10% chance??) PLUS Whether the story is TRUE, 1% true, total nonsense, or slanted by some Hater of the Jews or slanted by anti-Israel propaganda. moshe
11. British Newspapers accusing the Mossad to ....
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.12.12)
Cover up the disgusting phone hacking scandals that have brought British Journalism to the lowest level since Gutenberg invested the printing press! I am sure that the next thing the British Press will announce is that the Mossad has taken out a full page advert in the Sunday Times, of Vanunu fame, given the names and address of all the Mossad agents and their grandmothers all over the world! Stupid is as stupid does and the bigger idiots are the ones who believe the British Press which is more concerned with bashing Israel and ignores the enemy in their midst!
12. Anton Turkish&Iranian self interest are on collision course.
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (02.12.12)
It has nothing to do with Israel. Don't flatter yourselves, Israel expects nothing from Islamist ruled Turkey, other than confrontation. It is no longer the Ottoman empire,Israel can give as good as it gets and then some.

Counter Punch ,   Australia   (02.12.12)
Even second graders are smarter than you sarah. Maybe you didn't get any love from your parents but you sound like a demented person. Iran would crush Azerbaijan tomorrow and it will be reunited with the Iranian motherland soon.
14. #1: The point of this article is to get
Israeli 2   (02.12.12)
people like you to relax as you slowly wake up to the reality of a new pro- Israeli Iran.
15. Thanks Ynet
Counter Punch ,   Australia   (02.12.12)
for printing my comments, much appreciated. I guess it's that old adage, 3 jews and 4 opinions. For the record unlike some of the war mongers here, I don't wish to see any war in the Middle East because it was a disaster for everyone involved including Israel and I hope it gets solved peacefully. Cheers Ynet.

17. Yet another hoax swallowed by journos who should know better
Scott ,   USA   (02.12.12)
The Sunday Times has been concocting these things for nearly two decades. Remember the so-called "ethno-bomb" hoax? i'm shocked that Ynet takes this rubbish seriously.

The London Times were lead by the nose. The meeting between the agent and the London Times' reporter took place in Baku, near the Israeli Embassy, the report said. The reporter forgot to mention the fake beard and pink sun glasses. Btw, I know a "Shimon", he's a big mouth and works as a security agent ,At my local bank.

20. To: Scott at No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.12.12)
Not rubbish at all. Israel has been cultivating relationships with nations bordering the Iranian north for quite a while; this comes as no surprise. Israel basically now has Iran in a hammerlock, and the Iranians have to be running scared. They do not take sanctions terribly seriously, but they do take Israel very seriously. As well they should. Israeli intercontinental missiles can reach Iran quite easily from Israeli territory, and Israel has staging areas south of Iran and north of Iran. I guess not a great many countries are buying into Iran's "fellow Moslem" tripe. Iran's neighbors might not particularly like Israel, but I can assure you that they like the idea of a nuclear Iran considerably less.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.12.12)
Israel isn't British troops in the valley with Turks holding the high ground at Gallipoli. Israel is not defenseless Armenian civilians. Israel isn't Cyprus. Israel isn't defenseless Kurdish civilians. Turkey is no match for Israel. Do you really need to learn that the hard way? Even as part of NATO forces, Turkish troops did not participate in combat, citing a certain "delicacy" about NATO's foes being Moslem. Wherever deployed in Afghanistan and, previously, in Iraq, Turkey played the Moslem card and its troops drove trucks and were cooks for NATO's combat units. Turkey has not been battle-tested since Cyprus -- if you think that invading an essentially defenseless nation constitutes "combat." I, for one, do not. P.S. You still cannot claim a single millimeter of Israel's massive natural gas fields discovered off the coast of Haifa. Too bad for you. Go out and find a new excuse, why don't you? The Turks are very experienced in fabricating excuses.
22. Yeah right
Arie ,   BaGolan   (02.12.12)
I expected this type of article about some make pretend Mossad base being exposed by someone CLAIMING to be a Mossad agent in schocken's Antisemitic haaretz, guardian, cnn, or bbc, but not in the London Times. However, these types of tabloid style unproven rag stories are becoming common place in Yediot. I have to wonder if Yediot is looking to outmaneuver haaretz as the most Antisemitic rag in the Arab world.
23. the london times is a tabloid .............................
(02.12.12)
when it comes to israel
24. ???
Adam ,   London   (02.17.12)
It seems that anyone who writes stories about Israel's covert terrorism is an anti-semite.... yawn, this becoming a bit boring and tiresome. Why not look at the possible implications of the Mossad's involvment in destabilising of areas and false flag attacks on their own people? You may actually start to think, rather than go into auto-anti-semite slander.
