1. Diplomacy can't work with fanatics
Oleg ,   USA   (02.16.12)
This a fact. Fanatics care about nothing, but their belives. If somebody expects, Iran will turn off its nuclear weapon development, this person is complete idiot.
2. Muzlum obumma, is willing to let Israel be nuke, plain and
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.16.12)
simple. Israels only choice is to nuke iran first, not just attack, but nuke it.
3. Likud rules the US. LOL.
heard it all before   (02.16.12)
Why not save all the red tape and let the Kneset officially take over washington.
4. Israel peeing its pants over Iran
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (02.16.12)
...too afraid to bomb Iran by themselves, they hide behind Mommy.
5. Those are not real US Senators
Joseph Blough ,   USA   (02.16.12)
Those are not US Senators, they are Israeli moles posing as US Senators. Real US Senators are working on improving the US economy and not kissing Barak's behind.
6. Obama is Muslim and wants Iran to have the bomb
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (02.16.12)
7. "crippling pressure"??
Joe ,   Canada   (02.16.12)
So called "crippling pressure" failed to work on North Korea & those sanctions now applied to Iran (or Syria for that matter) are thoroughlly circumvented by several countries which do not enforce them & even sell weapons to these rogue countries such as are doing Russia, China , North Korea. Even the banking restrictions are being overcome outside the dollar zone. The sanctions are causing some damage to the Iranian economy but far from crippling it or slowing down the so far unstoppable progress of the nuclear program. All this stalling of the West in the futile hope that diplomacy (not even sustained by effective sanctions) can lead a fanatic theocracy to give up & commit itself to truthful concessions when it can only survive by lies, threats & violence inside & outside its borders. How many times does Washington want to try the "open hand" diplomacy which failed with Iran & Syria?
8. Let them have it
Beeble Bobble ,   Atlanta, USA   (02.16.12)
Even if Iran had the bomb, they are a nation of cowards. They stand for nothing, and have little more than sand and ugly rugs to offer the world. They will never actually use the bomb, because if they did, the entirety of NATO would destroy them. Iran would be a barren wasteland, where someone would rather live and work in Somalia than the heep of trash known as New Iran.
9. dennis ross's record
mohson   (02.16.12)
since the oslo policy and US presures on Israel from clinton and ross, 100s of israelis died. Ross is like indyk, brezezkinki who have advocated politicies like alice in wonderland disconnected from reality. Arabs cannot be forced to live in peace. Look how egypt now threatens to revise camp david if they don't get money from washington. This is what you are dealiing with. And for egypt, which was going to be destroyed but for US and russian pressure, it ought to shut up because it will lose more than in 73 if it keeps on. No dennis ross should stick to some institute or university where he can peddle his ph.dd theories. the solution to t so called palestine is return to jordan-end of story.
10. Crippling Sanctions My A__!
Ron G. ,   U.S.A.   (02.16.12)
Sanctions being delayed and not enforced by many countries means they are hardly crippling, but they could be. Iran imports 100% of its refined oil and gas. If this were cut off, Iran would come to a standstill within days. Nows that's crippling.
11. After so many years of diplomacy
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (02.16.12)
I believe, we are at at point to declare a failed attempt as failed! Since twenty years the Mullahs are boosting their missile program and their nuclear program tightly interlinked. How foolish must somebody be to have hope, that the situation will blow over and the mullahs will accept sufficient IAEA controls and proof that they really only have peaceful aims? Why does somebody who has peaceful intentions hide such a program deeply buried under rock instead of opening the program to proof that it's really peaceful? Nobody, not even Obama can tell!
12. #8 - Beeble Bobble
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (02.16.12)
NATO? Really? You are joking! I hope Israel can turn Iran into wasteland without the need to wait for an Iranian nuclear strike against her and then waiting weeks until NATO has finished struggling because Turkey would prevent NATO to declare a case where they would have to act....... All these nations who are cooperating under the roof of NATO only have proofed that they are not really helpful, when Israel really needs their help on the Iran issue. They have wasted valuable time, because business seems to come before security.
13. Obama is a looser !!!.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (02.16.12)
14. Obama doesn't need authorization for a military strike
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (02.16.12)
Congress has to approve a war and not a military strike. When was the last time it approved a war? WW2
15. #4 - not a very bright statement
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (02.16.12)
It's been clear in every article for months that the US is pleading with Israel not to strike. Writing nonsense does you a serious disservice. You come across as an angry child in a school playground.
16. It is the final county down to Israel fall
Bib ,   Ny,usa   (02.16.12)
17. #4 Benassi
Phil ,   Ireland   (02.16.12)
You obviously don't know your history. Israel has never been afraid of defending itself. You however never dialogue with anyone. So you're the one wearing the incontinent pad.
18. #17
TaylorT ,   Earth   (02.16.12)
"Israel has never been afraid of defending itself." Except for this time, of course. Hence all the efforts to try to get the US on board for what we keep hearing is an "existential threat" to Israel. I guess when you only have one friend, it's nice that the one friend is the most poweful nation on the planet--but if something like this goes sour (for the US) expect to lose that friend. The ingratitude of so many Israelis for the US doesnt help either.
19. Taylor T.
Alice ,   Montreal, Canada   (02.16.12)
You don't even know what you qre talking about. Israel is not effraid of Iran and from nobody. The only people who are efrraid of Iran are the cowards Nations of Europe who are ready tosacrifice Israel for oil. One thing is sure, if Israel decides to fight Iran (all the European countries will start condemning Israel, but who cares. We have a very faithful friend and it's the Almighty G-d of Israel. We do not need America nor Europe. THE WHOLE WORD NEEDS ISRAEL. Compris...
20. #5 - I would guess the Senate is mostly moles then.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.16.12)
Given the fact that almost each and every one of them is Pro-Israel. Wasn't the last round of sanctions levied 100-0?
21. #18
Phil ,   Ireland   (02.16.12)
Except for this time? Hardly. If Israel has to go it alone, it will. It has before and will again. Israel has a history of fighting alone in situations that would have the "Earth" crapping in its pants.
22. Need Pay-For
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (02.16.12)
Now they need to introduce Pay-For legislation to fund the coming world war. And as long as they are pushing for war, they should just introduce the declaration resolution. See who salutes when the resolution and new war tax are run up the flag pole.
23. # 18
Birdi ,   Israel & proud of it   (02.16.12)
''powerful nation on earth'' Your fantastic nation is bankrupt. No little man, Israel is not afraid of Iran. After all the trauma Jews have gone through, we have more courage than you will ever know.
24. #22 - "Pay-For" legislation has been around for ages. Why do
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.16.12)
you think people have lobbyists in the first place?
25. #23 - I'm not entirely sure he's an American. Or...
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.16.12)
he may not consider himself as one.
26. 14 Michael - The last Cakewalk
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (02.16.12)
The last cakewalk lasted 8 years and cost 4400 lives. Congress approved that one, but never decided to pay for it. Now we have Pay-For rules.
27. # 23
Birdi ,   Israel   (02.17.12)
Wherever he comes from, wherever he is, he needs to be taken down a peg or two & his hatred for Israel needs to be squashed. He sounds very much like the twerp we had here a couple of months ago (before your time Henry) who called himself ''Jeff ex-marine''
28. Face it, people. Obama is on Iran's side.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.17.12)
There is one clear explanation why Obama is more concertned with Israel attacking Iran's nukes than Iran building nukes. Face it, people. Obama is on Iran's side.
29. Go ahead, Yankees, you're broke already!
Avi ,   Israel   (02.17.12)
You need a WW3? Can you afford it? We don't.
30. #4 Watch good. Obama is the one pissing his pants.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (02.17.12)
He spent his entire tenure bullying, bobbing, weaving, ducking, evading, backtracking, giving feeble explanations of his very clear anti-Israel statements. Now he is being backed into a corner as he begs for more time for Iran. Guess who he is begging - Iran to negotiate and Israel to hold its hand. Back and forth he sends his emissaries to Israel. Hateful wimps should post at Haaretz. You'll fit in fine there.
