Maybe Lapid is not the ideal candidate but his message is certainly hitting the nail on the head. A handful of deadbeats and snorrers are dictating the life of the taxpaying middleclass. A change in the system is a must.
62. 61 mba - some inaccurate assumptions
S judah ,   Jerusalem   (02.17.12)
A large part of Shas's support is from traditional Mizrahim who are in the general work force and have served in the. army. It always amazes me that those who critise Shas fail to take that into account.
63. WHATS YAIR LAPID THE MAN GOT TO OFFER OF THAN FAME
zionist forever   (02.18.12)
He is doing the usual Haredi bashing which is the one thing that we have always known he stands for and of course everybody loves to hate the haredi. Raising the election threshold wasn't even his idea I believe it was a member of Likud who came up with that . He has said Jerusalem belongs to Israel but didn't say he wouldn't divide it. he has talk abit about social justice but what party won't be talking social justice. He has criticized other parties but the one thing he hasn't told us yet is what Yair Lapid will do to make the country a better place if we all vote for his party? The country doesn't need a celebrity or another journalist, we don't need a speech writer so why will it be worth my while to go out on election day and vote Yair Lapid who has no experience in anything in life other than journalism rather than a mainstream party which has real plans? Lapid is like the doctor who tells you that your sick and when you ask him what he will do to make you better he says nothing really.

yoel Lapid is attacking Shas same way in the past he has attacked Kadima, Labor and Likud. Under the current system Shas has just as much right to stand as he does so whats he going to do about Shas? They have plenty of supporters and will still pass a raised electoral threshold and most likely he would be a partner in the coalition that includes Shas so whats he going to do about Shas? What is he going to do about the haredi, he might be part of a coalition but he is not going to be able to demand an end to the Tal Law or stop giving money to religious? The education system he can't change alone and also why should it matter to the average Israeli what somebody religious studies? These people still won't get jobs if they don't want to work. Religious just make an easy target because the secular elite don't like them. Also isn't it kind of undemocratic to try and tell a large segment of society they have to conform to somebody else's lifestyle. Social justice is hardly his idea and every party is going to be talking about social justice at the next election. The idea of raising the electroral threshold was originally proposed by a Likud MK. Even if we do raise the threshold to a meager 6% its not making the country anymore democratic. We are not going to see MKS who are directly elected in constituencies or just 3 mainstream parties. Thats the only way we will ever see real political reform here not by spreading hate. Like all the others though Lapid doesn't want that because that would keep him out of politics unless he joined a mainstream party whilst Lapid wants to enter politics at the very least a senior government minister, in a proper system rookies don't become ministers they start at the bottom and work their way up over a matter of years. You wish Lapid all the best but whats he going to do the country if we voted for the Yair Lapid party? Isn't it a waste of a vote to vote for a man who just makes speeches criticizing the existence of other parties or a certain group of people but offering no solutions to the countries problems? Really all Yair Lapid is offering is his name and speech making skills.
