1. Congratulations.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.17.12)
Congratulations, Ynet, for the excellent text from Donniel Hartman. In fact, Israel is not, and she will never be, an isolated country. Not only the U.S.A, and European Union, are her friends. All true Democratic,Humanistic and Christian people around the world do support you. Present times are too different than past ones. But Israelian attitudes must not disregard the refered good international opinions. Never forget it, brothers and sisters.
2. Israel must destroy Iran's nukes with or without aid.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.17.12)
The author is correct that Iran threatens other nations besides Israel. However, when push comes to shove, Israel can only rely on herself. Israel must destroy Iran's nukes with or without aid from other nations.
3. Highly suspect and blatantly wrong!!!
Yonathan   (02.17.12)
The theme "we are not alone", "Iran is NOT an existential threat to Israel", "do not scare the populace!" is word by word Livni the surrender queen's words. Harman as a worthy (or paid for) Kadima stooge just doing his work. Very transparent and embarrassing. But Zionism and zionist Israel is because of its willpower to rely on itself and *only* itself! when will Livni and her cronies learn it at last???!
4. Oh of course you have allies
Cameron ,   USA   (02.17.12)
You are not forsaken by any means. But the attacking of a state is no casual matter, and this Persian scenario would bring on no small amount of poltical and economic instability by turning the ME on it's head. Will we attack? Necessity and the odds say yes, but damn unwillingly, and at the eleventh hour after going through every other possible avenue.
5. To the Author
solomon ,   bklyn   (02.17.12)
1. You forget that it was Israel bringing this situation to the attention of the US and Europe that finally convinced them of its seriousness. The sanctions are a result of Israel's actions. 2. What you say about the IDF is true; it is immensely strong, but not invincible. (TBers: read some more before posting knee jerk reactions) The IDF has won all its wars against incredible odds and under dire circumstances. But we should reread the histories of the wars. Each one has moments where Israel might have lost "were it not for..." And many of these "were it not for..." moments were when people were miraculously at the right place at the right time, or anamolies committed by the enemy. eg: Yom Kippur War; As the 7th Brigade began to pull back having almost exhausted its ammunition, an impromptu force of 15 tanks arrived. The Syrians thought this was the beginning of a massive influx of reservists, and their attack lost steam. A Syrian thrust, that could have easily entered the valley below unopposed, stopped short of El Al. To this day, no one knows why. eg: Six Day War: Ammunition was in such short supply that it was shipped directly from the airfield (having arrived from the US) to the front. We should remember the heroics and tragedies of the wars. But we should not forget the ""were it not for..."s. To do so would be underestimating the enemy.
6. Jewish minority cannot dominate Arab majority forever
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (02.17.12)
If "Israel" is to remain in the region it must fully integrate with the majority native Palestinians, all 8.7 million of them, into one Country, two States, Palestine Israel.

john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (02.17.12)
You are too stupid to understand what will happen. There will never be a Palestine.
8. #6 - They're the majority in their country.
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.17.12)
I'm also pretty certain there aren't that many Palestinian Arabs in that area.
9. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.17.12)
You need to do a head count. Odds don't really trouble us, all that much -- besides, Israel has a strong qualitative edge. And a fairly large nuclear arsenal, should push come to shove. Don't think we won't.
10. Dear Rabbi: Israel can do it alone
Israeli 2   (02.17.12)
with its God.
11. TO: Luiz Haddad @#1 Thank you!
Israeli 2   (02.17.12)
I only take exception with this statement: "But Israelian attitudes must not disregard the refered good international opinions." 1) Hardline Israelis are the backbone of Israel. 2) Israelis and Israel do not have to kiss up to anyone. 3) We do not have to be Politically Correct or diplomatic in any way. 4) If you love or like Israel, come here with respect and honor ALL its people. I only wish the world loves Israel like Israel loves the world.
12. Israel should not go this one alone! This is a problem for West+Sunni States.
Alan ,   SA   (02.17.12)
13. Israel is not alone--NOT TRUE
sharona ,   sydney   (02.17.12)
If Obama wins a second term, he will ditch Israel. He is already changing course re his domestic policies. What do you think he will do if he gets a second term??
14. #6: There are Two States - Israel and Jordan!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.17.12)
That's what the UN said in 1947! Read your History or are you too busy hating Israel? There are more Palestinians in Jordan than Jordanians and while you are studying history, have a good look at what King Hussein did to the Palestinians in Black September 1970! The problem is that the UN, USA, the UK and people like you just won't realize that the Palestinians don't want their country they want Israel without Jews. That is what Abu Mazen said - Jew Free - Judenrein!
15. #4 cameron - Very well said.

21. #6, first off Gaza is not Israel's problem, 2.5M Pals living
Jake ,   USA   (02.17.12)
...in the West Bank will be integrated if the PA is dismantled. Either into Jordan or into Israel. Regardless of what happens with the Pals, Israel will survive & thrive. There are many option available to the Jewish state to ensure its Jewish majority. One simple solution would be to grant all Pals citizenship, while offering all Jews worldwide the opportunity to apply for absentee citizenship. Full annexation of the West Bank, no apartheid, no Palestine west of the Jordan river, no Jewish minority in Israel. Problem solved.
22. True, Israel is not alone...
TaylorT ,   Earth   (02.17.12)
...they have at least one friend (the US) who seems quite willing to bend over for Israel with no need for even a thanks (which is good, because saying 'thanks' is not something Israelis are good at.)
23. to #6
Michael ,   New York   (02.18.12)
NEVER. and NEVER AGAIN. End of story. I know you hate us Steve, or whatever your real name is, but tough. NO, do you get it? NO... the only Palestinians are the Jews who settled and built the land. The Arabs can go to Arabia or someone of the other 22 countries they already have... NO, NO, NO, never, not ever. GET IT?
24. Well said
StevieT ,   USA   (02.18.12)
It is the emes....no further words are required.
25. #22
Phil ,   Ireland   (02.18.12)
The Earth, yes the one where you say you live because you're so ashamed of your actual country , that same Earth owes more to the Jewish people than it can ever repay. So who needs to thank who? The "Earth" owes the Jews big time both for what the Jews have given and the way they have been treated in return.
26. israel majority
mueer ,   jordan   (02.18.12)
Israel state is against world nature so it is need force to exist but compare to arabs they are 1/50 and if all jewsh against moslem they will be also the same 1/50 . the question is how long it will israeli force be?
27. To N 11, Israeli
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.18.12)
Dear Mr. Israeli. Sorry, but you didn't understand my refered statement. At first, for me and other true Christians, Israel will always be a loved country. I do respect all her people and all her political lines. But, exactly for being a sincere friend, it is up to me to criticize some positions. On doing it, my only purpose is the positive solidarity with the Jewish State. God bless you and your family. Warm salutes.
28. #25 You ever notice, Phil from Ireland...
TaylorT ,   Earth   (02.18.12)
...that very often your ilk will choose to attack a person based on their nationality instead of their arguments? I'm sure you have, but if not, here's how it goes: if an Irish person dares to criticize some Israeli action the response on Ynet is something like: "well you're Irish and therefor probably drunk so what do you know?" OR "you're Irish and therefor must love terrorists so who are you to judge?" Understand? Maybe not, seeing how you're Irish and therefor probably not very bright.
29. Hey, #28
Daniel Rossi ,   Great Neck, NY   (02.18.12)
You are definitely right about the Irish. You only forgot to mention the potatoes...
30. Peace via BALANCE, balance via SECURE BIG ISRAEL.
