3. rush iron dome batteries to the country
marcel   (02.19.12)
get the additional 7 goddamn iron dome batteries cover the whole country now.triple shift the factory workers and rush them to tel aviv, haifa, all parts of israel as well as dimona and fuel and naval precious sites. If war breaks out, I want israel to be as fully protected as possible so that time is given to the idf to restrategize and go kill hezbollah and hamas and block longer range missiles. israeli citizens will feel better that at least some of the missiles are blocked. i don't want any carmels with steinitz and yishai covering their asses. Get the bloody iron dome batteries out there and now!!!
4. I wonder...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A./ Israel   (02.19.12)
Who in the government is making money out of installing this useless defense mechanism. It should be a crime punishable by law to profit from selling a false sense of security to the unsuspecting public...
5. wow, do i feel safe or what. knock me over they will shlep
ralph   (02.19.12)
their one unit from one end of the country to the other. hamas and hezbollah must be trembling - no i mean laughing in their boots.
6. #1 - I'm no expert, but maybe they only use it when they
Henry from New York ,   USA   (02.19.12)
think the rocket will land in a populated area? There doesn't seem to be any point in shooting down a rocket for the sake of shooting it down - expensive.
7. Iron Dome
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (02.19.12)
Last year I was in a red adom situation in the south where the Iron Dome was used its only good for Katushas and Qassams not very good against a massive attack. I don't think it can be used against Scuds or long range missiles. I could be wrong.
8. Mahmoud....
Golani ,   Israel   (02.19.12)
... here we come...
9. Looks like an attack is imminent
david(like the king) ,   uk   (02.19.12)
10. Excuse me, but,.........
Gideon Reader   (02.19.12)
...why is it necessary to deploy something like "Iron Dome" which is an anti missile defense system, in Tel Aviv? Having been a continual reader of ALL of the Israel press organs and avidly consumed the offerings of Meretz, kadima, Labor and even some of the leftward drifting reportage of the political alleged right, there is NO threat from areas controlled by Israel's partners for peace. Oslo and of course "disengagement" has mooted all need for such deeploymeent. There is no threat from a Judenrein Gaza,and......WAIT......I figured it out. The threat comes from the Settlers and their Heredi Sayeret squads, who threaten the state. NOW I've got it.
11. Iron Dome is a waste of money so kill the project
zionist forever   (02.19.12)
Each Iron Dome interceptor cost $50,000 compared to the $100 rockets its designed to shoot down which Hamas have around 40,000 of. So if the air force can't even afford to fly to save money then they can't waste $50,000 testing a scrap Iron Dome interceptor. The best thing to do with Iron Dome would be to cancel the entire project unless the individual municipalities who want the system pay for their own battery. its got zero use in wars, in Lebanon in 2006 the army would have run out of interceptors within 10 minutes and spent millions on a pointless gesture. If its costing so much and has no military value then the IDF should not be funding this white elephant that was developed because Olmert wanted a home grown solution to Hezbollah's rockets, which Iron Dome doesn't even do. The whole project was about feel good factor to try cover up Olmert's failings in Lebenon. It was never about do we need it, can we afford it and is there a cheaper system being sold abroad .. having the made in Israel badge was the priority not the system itself.
12. TRUE,IT IS IRON NO DOUBT.........#4

13. IDF to deploy Iron Dome in Central Israel ,...

Why not in the area pounded by Qassams? Maybe because the dome is a lemon ;) ,...
14. Giving back Gush Katif really worked, didn't it? Any other
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.19.12)
land for peace ideas like giving away Judea, Samaria or east Jerusalem that you want to talk about? Just how long would it take for a missile from east Jerusalem to get to Jerusalem?
15. #13 split
Sarah B ,   U.S.A./ Israel   (02.19.12)
How dare you say its a lemon? Rotten apple may be but not a lemon...lol
16. Dear Sarah
ken   (02.19.12)
The Iron dome is not useless at all. I myself experienced it in action and it did work (thank god). not a 100% but 4 out if 6 missals intercepted is better than none ... funny those people that write USA/Israel ... pretending to be in israel but actually cosy in the use ... but strong opinions .... hypocrites

zionist forever   (02.20.12)
Iron Dome is only designed to intercept short range rockets like kassams if the country was attacked by Iranian missiles or Hezbollah long range rockets. Iron dome would be useless against any of them. For now at least Arrow seems to be safe but the project that is possibly going to get killed as a result of these cuts is the & the Magic Wand which is to replace Israel's 50 year old Hawk missile batteries and can shoot down everything from Hezbollah's long range rockets - cruise missiles and fighter jets. Iron Dome is a white elephant that was designed to create a little feel good factor for Olmert after his failure in Lebanon. The whole project should have been canceled and the money invested in offensive weapons and other defense systems like Magic Wand which at least have a little bit of use unlike the Iron Dome money pit
18. Iron dome
Saxon/isaacs son ,   USA   (02.20.12)
I guess people should just sit back and wait for the rockets to hit and do nothing about it ? As with any new technology the price will get cheaper with time, I think they need one called iron fist that actually targets where the rocket was fired from and sends one back to them as well as shooting down the one fired,,,turnabout is fairplay and if they wanna gripe about Israel shooting into populated areas,,,well thats just turnabout also. All those people understand is a big hammer!
19. Dome
Saxon/Isaacs son ,   USA   (02.20.12)
Thank God,,we allready have one to many domes in the holy land
20. #11 - Bad economic logic.
meir elazar   (02.20.12)
The primary goal is to save Israeli lives. The optimization is not wasting a missile when the Qassam will fall in an unpopulated area but definitely bring down a Qassam that would land in a populated area. Next we should charge the PA for all the research, development, maintenance, and missiles used to defend Israelis while PA/Hamas is allowing terrorists to fire from their areas which they are responsible for.
21. One More Point -Israel is the first to have a short range
meir elazar   (02.20.12)
missile defense system and other countries will certainly want to buy this battle proven technology further advancing Israel's economics and arsenal against Gaza terrorists, Hezbollah, Iran, and Al Qaeda.
22. Why simulate when you have more than enough rockets frm Gaza
meir elazar   (02.20.12)
23. who is watching the store
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (02.20.12)
as if the Iron Dome was any good, but what is 'protecting' the other southern cities?
24. Peace ONLY via BALANCE, balance ONLY via SECURE BIG ISRAEL.

26. no political correctness here...
alsky ,   toronto   (02.20.12)
when will people start to say the truth ?. The Muslims believe All of Israel is occupied . Thats why trading land for peace will never work !
27. Iron Dome, more like ironic cone
Kerwood Derby ,   Frostbite Falls, MN   (02.20.12)
While Tel Avivim party like it is 1999, the Iron Dome won't quell the planned capricious evil edicts, attacks by BB&Barak LLC on Jewish lives in the dark of night and with an Iron Fist enforced by those who accept illegal orders to destroy the lives of Yehudim whom they are sworn to protect and the elected officials serve in Yehuda.

30. Big-wigs in TA are covered suddenly. They know something??
(02.20.12)
...that we don't. Perhaps they're planning something that will bring repercussions....so the big shots (MKs and those who pay them) in TA are taken care of. Unnerving. When they were talking about moving it around to different sites I had a funny feeling that when the $#*% hit the fan you could guess where this thing would end up covering.
