The article said F15-I and F16-I and those numbers are correct regarding thes models. True we have bout 400 F16 and F15 but they are not all the "I" (special model made by the US for Israel and according to Israel's specs).

Its true if Israel were going to attack Iran and was relying on jets it would need over 100 jets and Iran would detect that many planes long before they reached its border. If Israel were to attack Iran the majority of sites would probably be carried out by Jericho 3 ICBMS wich can carrier a much bigger payload than a jet can. A smaller number of jets would probably be used to hit less strategically valuable targets. Another reason Israel would like to keep number of jets used to a minimum is because for most the pilots it would probably be a one way trip. If they want to carry maximum number of bombs to do maximum damage then they won't have any space on their racks to carry missile to defend themselves and they won't have the fuel to use afterburners for long. I think for any pilots their strategy would have to be drop your bombs and run and then bailout over the closest arab state and hope they send you home. The good news though is Obama will probably do the job in December once he has the election out the way. It wouldn't even surprise me if he has an agreement already with Bibi that he will give sanctions till November if Iran doesn't give up its nuclear program then the US will do the job. Military analysts, politicians, media people unless they have been sitting in on any secret meetings its all speculation. With the recent arrest of Iranian agents in Thailand attempting to pull off yet another attack on Israeli diplomats, I think Israel has no choice but to do WHATEVER it takes to protect it's citizens. realistic number or not, but I suspect US military experts have different approach to planning operations when compared to Israeli ones. Most likely US guys are used to overwhelming power and abandon supply at their fingertips. I doubt Israelis have the same feeling. Bottom line where American says he needs 100 planes Israeli would say he needs 30 planes + 20 reserve.

Only the US has the resources to fully hammer the Persian nuke drive to a true halt. If Israeli command had any true faith in their ability to swing this, they would have undertaken operations long ago.
