1. Oh, for heaven's sake!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.22.12)
Give the ones who do not want to serve conscientious objector status, and require them to do national service instead, with milluim requirements attached, just like all Israelis who do serve. Those who are not willing to do so will have the status of draft dodgers. The only way to avoid prosecution, then, is to leave the country. With no possibility of return.
2. Elections
Observer ,   Tel-Aviv, Israel   (02.22.12)
Bye Bye Bibi.
3. Bibi will have to make a decision. Lieberman will .....
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.22.12)
have to apologize to his supporters for selling them out on every election promise that he made! And Barak, well, our little Napoleon might have to go into political exile with Bibi! The only clever one in his little "gang" is Minister Matan Vilnai (Major-General Ret) who is going to be the new Israeli Ambassador to China. The rest, well, hello oblivion!
4. Hypocrites in the courts
Jake in Jerusalem ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.22.12)
Supreme Court Chief Justice Dorit Beinisch and Minister of Defense Ehud Barak both say that the Tal law has failed to deliver the expected results and therefore should be made null and void. Would they say the same about speed limit regulations on highways that have failed to reduce the road toll? What about Oslo which has failed to bring peace? Or are they simply militant secularists eager to do anything they can to attack religious Jews in Israel?
5. Yashiva Students Response
Haim ,   TA   (02.22.12)
One day after the announcement of the scrapping of the TAL Law, yeshiva students reply " we will not be drafted if we dont want" Really ? i see its ok for my daughter to serve in the IDF she later worked her butt off while studying and working her way through medical school . She has since gone on to become a doctor saving lives and helping others, yet these parasites who claim they are to holly to serve their country sit on their holly back sides milking this country dry while are brave young men and women give the best years of their lives in defending this country while those good for nothing parsites do nothing. Stop their benefits, trust me they will soon go get a job. The days of the free loaders is coming to an end. We should demand compensation for the years since the creationof the TAL Law.
6. N*5 I whole heartedly agree with you!!
Lauren ,   Jerusalem   (02.22.12)
7. Whatever you do, remember elections are near!!
Jew1 ,   Ashdod   (02.22.12)
and I will vote only to the party who will take care of woman's right and defend them from these haredi extemists and take solid and strong action against them. I will vote for the party who will promise not to join hands with any religious party. If you are afraid of your chiars as haredi party can topple it then we as woman of this country can also topple it. One mistake of Ben Gurion and 20% of it's population turned into parasites and now they are turning into talibans. This is our opportunity to repair what was earred and done tremendous damage to our country and it's people. Do not disappoint us....Make haridim work, serve and earn their own bread. Make them follow laws of this country and make them understand that they are not superiors to others and make others understand that this country stands for democracy and euality.
8. haredi must accept idf service
alexi   (02.22.12)
all loyal israelis who are able to some physiscal work must go intot the idf. Shas should not object since a healthy body is a healthy minid and religious study does israel no good if it is defeated in war. Yes bibi has trouble with decisions but he is humble enough to consult his group of 8 to assist him in pushing through his decisions. Sima's men, olmert made decisions that cost israel 150 dead for nothing in 2006 and retrieved dead idf bodies for kuntar and this crud. And lapid, a tv star, talks mostly rubbish. In fact, his dad enabled olmert. Lapid is a more honest form of olmerty, an incompetent weakling who has harmed israel in arab negotiations for years to come with his chamberlain self loathing concessions. Same for livni who sat and enabled olmert like a dumbbell and now she asks why israelis have no confidence in her. Sima can go visit olmert in jail. where he is guaranteed 1005 to go and he'll have time to examine his cowardice sitting in a small room confined by bars. unless
9. Another example of haredi demagogy.
ITZIK ,   ISRAEL   (02.22.12)
On the contrary, all these catastrophic phenomena prove that the authorities should deploy a far more powerful policy against traffic offenders, palestinian terrorists and haredi shirkers, who are the real hypocrites, particularly those who pretend to be tora learners.
10. Serving in the IDF or National Sevice
Steve Goodman ,   Israel   (02.22.12)
the equation is quite simple "No to one or the other...No to any Government benefits....they want to pray and learn Torah....go right ahead....just do not ask us to support you....until you get with the program like the rest of us....by the way I mean serving in the IDF including Reserve Duty....or National Service with annual service time requirement after 3 years.....enough of this "we Pay, you Pray" madness
11. to 1
sara ,   jerusalem   (02.22.12)
as if you feel the fire is near so you can not only to be anti somebody
12. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.22.12)
Hard to be "pro" somebody who refuses to serve the country which houses him, educates him, shelters him AND pays him a stipend because he "studies" all day, therefore cannot work. And, sooner or later, he will have eleven or twelve children which the government will feed, clothe, educate and shelter. Do you see an up side? I don't.
13. Melodramic Dribble. Iran will be Bibi's moment of truth!
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (02.22.12)
14. chaim is spot on
joesay ,   melbourne   (02.23.12)
im no torah scholar but it would definitely say that it is a mitzvah to work and earn a living for yourself and your family. its just plain ridiculous that there are so many haredim that shirk their responsibilities for THEIR country.
15. Meanwhile at the Western Wall today...
witness ,   Western Wall Israel   (02.23.12)
At approximately 4 pm (1600 hours) today. A unit of IDF recruits came to the Western Wall as part of their induction ceremony. And what happened? Just as they began their ceremony from loudspeakers (supposedly a transmission of Reshet Bet (IBA National Radio) and alledgly with permission from the Kotel Rabbi - who was unavailable for comment) came the singing of Psalms for supposedly for the well being of an ill rabbi. What happened? The prayers through the loud speakers drowned out the entire IDF induction ceremony. I guess that let's all of us know who is in control...
16. #4 worse than you say
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (02.23.12)
The High Court was silent while the extreme-Left Kadima did not implement the Tal Law when they were not stealing money or taking bribes. Only now when Netanyahu managed to implement the Tal Law, as more and more haredim did choose to join the army, did the High Court wake up. Apparently, the High Court was more interested in destabilizing Netanyahu tham serving justice. But it doesn't matter. The High Court looks worse than ever before, pushing their fanatical extreme-Left agenda that has nothing to do with law and justice. The Haredim leaders are getting payback for collaborating with the extreme Left in passing the Oslo Accords and ethnically cleansiing Gush Katif. The Leftists will be stuck as now Haredim will get even more money: a married soldier gets paid far better than a Yeshiva student. The army will have to respect kosher laws and gender separation: no more games with 3d rate singers like Barbivai played.
17. THIS IS AN HISTORICAL DAY
Stan ,   Israel   (02.23.12)
I agree 100% with Sarah B !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
18. Moment of Truth ?????
Michael ,   Haifa   (02.23.12)
Netanyahu wouldn't know what a "moment of truth" is ,even if Sima Kadmon pushes his face into it
19. tal and supreme court
elie ,   jerusalem   (02.23.12)
how will the leftists, democracy advocates and equality for all, deal with all the arab citizens who must serve? i am sure they could come up with an eqivalent of "torato umenato".
20. to 17
sara ,   jerusalem   (02.23.12)
it is only moment of truth !!!!
