31. Why they took their children to a war zone?
Walter   (02.22.12)
If I visit a war zone it is my decision. If I die there it was because of my decision. But I can't make such a decision for somebody else. The Fogels decided for their children and this was also a crime. What comes next? Making sightseeing with the boys in Syria or make a trekking tour through the Khyber pass? Why not having a coke and lemonade in Tehran with the children? Why did they want to live between their enemies? Itamar is a war zone were settlers attack Palestines and Palestines attack settlers. Please don't misunderstand me. I feel sorry for the kids. The crime and the hate behind it makes me sad. I hope the killers rot in prison. But the behaviour of the parents was just irresponsible. I guess it's because they were the Chosen Ones. This is funny because we all know that the USA is G-d's Own Country, not Israel. He saves the Queen, not settlers.
32. It's not an ordinary murder
Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (02.22.12)
Their idiot parents moved with them into a warzone outside Israel. We don't consider settlers to be terror victims they are more like war casualties. A bomb going off in Tel Aviv is horrible. A bomb going off in places like Itamar is meh, big whoop. Israelis have no business moving to disputed occupied land.
33. Meotti is not only all

Another lesson in Israel's unwillingness to destroy its enemies
34. think about this Meotti
bill   (02.22.12)
I read an Israeli article complaining that the world cares about Palestinian kids but doesn't give a sh*t about all the Syrian kids being killed. If the world doesnt care about thousands of Syrians dying why should they care about one Israeli family? Where is the Israeli outrage about deaths in Syria? You can't have it both ways. The self-pity in Israel is perfectly understandable but to advertise one's self pity in newspapers is just incredible. Israelis accuse Palestinians of this sort of self-pity. Maybe openly displaying self-pity in the press is a characteristic of all the inhabitants of the middle east? Meotti panders to this trait big time to make money.

if you think its normal that Jews should only care about Jews then your brain would automatically assume that other people around the world only care about their own kind as well. Therefore when people overseas care about Palestinians its natural for you to think they have an ulterior motive ( antisemitism ) for caring about Palestinian Muslims.
36. # 31
Birdi ,   Israel = Jewish land   (02.22.12)
The Fogel family killing was NOT an attack, it was a murder of an innocent family at the hands of depraved cruel Palestinians. NO Israeli Jew goes into an Arab village & kills an Arab family. Itamar is NOT a ''war-zone'' Itamar is part of Israel whether you like it or not.
37. # 32
Birdi ,   Israel & proud of it   (02.22.12)
Itamar is not a war-zone outside Israel. A bomb did not go off in Itamar, you idiot. The killing of a family including 2 kids & a 3 month old baby girl was perpetrated by your friends the depraved Palestinians. Itamar is INSIDE Israel.
38. silence of the west
Cheryl ,   USA   (02.22.12)
#31 You are a cruel and heartless beast. These people were living on land that belongs to them, they were not hurting anyone.
39. Believing in Santa Clause ?
who cares   (02.23.12)
The world is anti jewish beyond any hope for improvement - thats fact. Everything else is wishful thinking..... Despite this the jew-haters are worse off than Israel because Israel has a living God who again and again has delivered her from her enemies ! ''Cursed is he who curses Israel!''
40. Not true. Many condemnations
Anna Asher ,   Ny Ny   (02.23.12)
There have been many condemnations of this murder including many from Muslims. It just doesn't make the news, as Rabbis for Human Rights notes: "For those who are wondering where is the Muslim condemnation of the brutal murders, there has been plenty of it, but it doesn’t make such exciting news. The Palestinian Prime Minister condemned it in strong terms. The editor of The American Muslim wrote: The recent murder of the Fogel family who were West Bank settlers, was a criminal act of the worst order. Whoever carried out this brutal murder needs to be found, tried, and if found guilty, executed. There is no justification for such an act of brutality.

Itamar is not Israel. It's in the occupied west bank, a warzone. I'm aware it wasn't a bomb there, it was just an example of how different the world sees an attack in the occupied territories from an attack in Israel. The parents of these babies were horrible and obviously did not love their children. No parent in their right mind would take their children and move into a disputed warzone. Itamar is NOT inside Israel. Fact. That ultra-religious jews think that the entire area was a gift from god and therefor is part of Israel is completely irrelevant, they're absolutely insane. The west (minus USA) will never accept such a redicilous argument since most of us have moved on from the days when we worshipped old fairy tales. Had the parents survived they would have deserved to rot in prison right next to the arab who killed the childen.

Tiki was right in suggesting to you not to read articles you expect to be disappointing, if the result is your talkbacks full of self serving narcisistic ego.
44. fogel family
Leif Erik H.Niclasen ,   Faroe Island   (02.23.12)
Do not call the killer for anything but Arab people who like to kill sleeping children what a brave people, instead of working there way out of Israel and find their own Arab country to live in where no jew in a million of year will come and do the same killing we in the west will never forget and we are praying for the Jew for they are the special people that the only and true god and his son the GOD of Abraham Isak and Jacob care for and all the world will some day ask of forgivenes for what they in there sick mind where doing to the people of GOD and for the people there live in HIS LAND ISRAEL THE JEWISH PEOPLE AND THE JEWISH LAND many sick thing will happen until HE WILL RETURN the one and only MESSIHA

To the Arabs, Tel Aviv is a settlement, in fact, all of Israel is 1 big settlement. There is not one Palestinian map that has Israel on it. According to everyone who knew them, the Fogels were good, decent people who loved their children. How dare you condone their murder, and at the same time say you feel sorry for their children who were murdered along with them, who would have been left orphans had they survived, and their parents didn't. Many countries have won land in defensive wars, and many have never returned that land. Israel has tried to return most of the West Bank to the Arabs to have their own state, but they refuse everytime because they are greedy, and want it all. A large part of Jewish history, first occurred in the West Bank, or Judea and Samaria. Before 1948,the area was referred to as Judea and Samaria on every map, not the West Bank. Only in Israel, the 1 Jewish nation on earth, is the coldblooded murder of an innocent family condoned because people don't like were they live. Then these same people have the gaul to say their not antisemitic, just antizionist. .
46. To: No. 9
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.23.12)
Well, there are consequences to starting six wars and losing them all, as the Arabs have. And the ersatz "Palestinians" in Israeli prisoners are terrorist criminals. And it is not the fault of Israel if the ersatz "Palestinians" don't seem to mind selling their children to be suicide bombers or using them as human shields. Depraved, but there you have it. Why aren't you protesting against the callous actions of a terrorist organizations that uses schools, hospitals and mosques into weapon caches, thereby turning them into legitimate military targets? Hmm? Where's your outrage?
47. To: No. 40
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.23.12)
So, what are we supposed to believe? An ersatz "Palestinian" issuing a "condemnation" in English only, and not in Arabic? Or the PA-run television which allowed the family of the murderers of the Fogel family to issue forth with poems and great praise for their vile terrorist offspring? That was done in Arabic, not English. You're a dupe, Anna. You're more dangerous to the Jewish people and the State of Israel than any ersatz "Palestinian" terrorist.
48. To: No. 41
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.23.12)
The West Bank is non-sovereign territory, and was acquired by Israel in the course of fighting a defensive war against Jordan. It is Israel's to settle, retain and even annex. How do you think Sweden acquired its size? Check your own bloodthirsty past before you cast aspersions upon Israel for having had the temerity to emerge victorious in six wars, all of which were started by the Arabs. The ersatz "Palestinians" are recent arrivals to Israel, most of them coming following World War I. They have no claim to anything, and the vast majority cannot produce deeds of ownership, whereas the overwhelming number of Jews can do precisely that. Loved the story of the WASA, by the way. No wonder Sweden is the economic and military weakling of Europe. You're also Nazi apologists. Do you think we do not know why Sweden was never invaded by Nazi Germany? It's because they didn't have to. They had the likes of Nazi collaborators such as Alex Wenner Gren, among others. The brave ones -- such as Raoul Wallenberg -- were met with anger and disdain by the Swedish government. There is no part of Eretz Israel which should not be available to Jewish residence. Do keep that in mind. Six wars and seven decades of unremitting ersatz "Palestinian" terror have been more than enough. It's time for those Arab illegal squatters and interlopers to leave our land. Israel -- all of it -- belongs to the Jewish people. Deal with it.
49. (25) Gabriel
tiki ,   belgium   (02.23.12)
Gabriel, I love it when people, who don't know me, tell me what I don't understand. Me, on the other hand have a feeling that you, living & probably studying,, in Leiden want to understand more about the subject, while you're in the enviroment of very 'Pro 'Palestinian biased universities & indoctrinated students, which is not easy. This 'being tired' has therefore nothing to do with Meotti's articles, but more with the fact that as a Jew (as you said you are) you're being forced to look at some harsh FACTS & realities, which you would 'prefer to be different, but sadly, are not. Therefore Meotti's article shouldn't make you tired, but make you stronger because, as they say, "een gewaarschuwd mens telt voor twee", and (sadly enough), he's stating only FACTS, nothing else.

Jackie ,   Florida, USA   (02.23.12)
I know that Glen Beck is ridiculed by many leftists as a kook, however he did have a long feature on the Fogel family murders, condemning the killers in no uncertain terms. Most of the rest of the US media ignored completely, or back paged the story. Comments were nil, save for those condemning the Fogels either for going out or for living as settlers.
51. #1: Put children up as human shields they will get killed!
David ,   Karmirl, Israel   (02.23.12)
If you people would just stop your stupidity and realize that Israel is here to stay and the started to build instead of killing your OWN then Gaza could be turned into one of the greatest tourist resorts in the world! Remember Lebanon, once the Jewel of the Middle East? But no! You persist in your warped ideology of destroying Israel and the Jewish people when actually you are killing your own children, poisoning them with hatred and so you and your people will live in slums and squalor for ever! Start loving your kids more that you hate Jews, then and only then will peace have a chance!
52. Happened on Kibbutz Metzer, too.
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (02.23.12)
... but nobody ran out screaming death to the Arabs and destroying property of people who were not involved. Nobody demanded destruction of homes, also. Just dignified quiet mourning.

Since you think so highly of yourself, let's see you show us some wisdom: Just hours after the Fogels were murdered, several groups in Gaza started handing out candy at the traffic intersections. Thousands of people not only took the candy but honked their horns in celebration. Go ahead, tell us -- what exactly do they love, eh?

Devorah   (02.23.12)
please give us your opinion of the Qur'an and Islam in light of the fact that you have, "moved on from the days when we worshipped old fairy tales." You must have one since you are comfortable condemning the bible and Judaism.
56. Itamar
Leah Goldsmith ,   Itamar Israel   (02.23.12)
For all the critics of this article- Itamar is the heart of Israel in all spects- historical, stratgic, religious and the list gowes on. Just look at the map of Israel. Itamar is not a bad neighborhood somewhere in lah lah land but a rich green land of milk and honey full of people who value life before anything else. Our critics, the liberal Jews can say what they want but they will be running for hills of Itamar soon enough when the final clarification comes down.
57. #48
Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (02.23.12)
It is not Israels right to settle if it's not going to annex it. Sweden acquired its size due to the fact there are vast uninhabited spaces in the north. Sweden today is much smaller than it used to be. I know most arabs settled there relatively recently aswell, but it doesn't matter. The fact is that it was their home before Israel captured it. Sweden is one of the richest countries in Europe actually, obviously not in absolute numbers since we are a pretty small country but per capita. Militarily though we're a pushover, true. We don't really need a big army since we are surrounded by friendly nations we have excellent relations to. Bla bla nazi bla. I could care less, it's something from before either of us were born. It's sickening when jews keep whining about something they never experienced to someone who didn't have anything to do with it. Is Eretz Israel referring to the old biblical lands that crazy people think god gave to them? If so, no, jews should stay the hell out since it's not theirs. They have the state of Israel and that's all they're entitled to.

Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (02.23.12)
Are you surprised? They do it every time a jew is killed. In or outside Israel. This article is about the west though. No one here cheered, the common opinion though is that they brought it upon themselves by moving out of Israel to an illegal settlement in a warzone.

Rachel   (02.23.12)
People unfortunately did scream death to arabs after almost every Arab terrorist attack, including the attack on Kibbutz Metzer, but Israelis didn't go out and deliberately murder Arab civilians, which is what the Arabs did everytime an Arab terrorist leader,or civilian was killed . Considering many Arabs, not only support, but actually make heroes out of henious murderers like this, it's understandable some people get very, very angry. The family of the mother and children murdered at Kibbutz Metzger reacted no differently to the murder of their loved ones than the Fogel families loved ones did. When the terrorist who murdered the family was shot and killed while fleeing Israeli soldiers a year later, the father who lost his wife and children said he was glad justice had been done for his family. You just hate the Jewish settlers and will do everything to demean them even when they and their children are brutally murdered . Shame on you.

Am I correct in my understanding of your post? You maintain that you do not care when there are genocides of non-Jews, yet you expect the world to care if there is anti-Semetism and murder of Jews? So much for Tikkun Olam......
