1. Total victory could have brought us peace decades ago.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.27.12)
As Einstein noted, a problem must be solved on a higher plane than where it was created. Israel will never have peace as long as we make lunatic concessions, engage in a phony "peace process" and pretend our genocidal "Palestinian" enemies are really our friends. This sick paradigm created the problem in the first place. However, Israel could have had peace decades ago had we resoundingly defeated the "Palestinians" militarily and offered them fair compensation to leave. In fact, after Israel's glorious victory in the 1967 War, many "Palestinians" feared an Israeli massacre and were prepared to leave. Idiotically, however, Israel's government stopped them from leaving.
2. Mentally oblibivious people like obumma continue to think
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (02.27.12)
that if only Israel gave in to all the demands of the arabs, there would be peace. If Israel gave in to EVERY arab demand, there would just be MORE demands and there would NEVER be peace until the last Jew was dead.
3. The Palestinian 'free pass'
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (02.27.12)
The Palestinians have gotten away with outrageous behavior time and time again. The International Community and more importantly the West have given them a free pass for their refusal to make Peace. Their refusal to make Peace is the heart of the conflict.
4. I appreciate teh cries for dead papa Fuhrer.
Miron ,   USA   (02.27.12)
but the only alternative to managing own existence is outsourcing the process to the likes of Mr. Schicklegruber.
5. On Peace, Stalemate & the Need for Talk
Larry Snider ,   Philadelphia, USA   (02.27.12)
There are incitements galore on both sides with people in and out of both governments working overtime to make peace impossible. And yet the need for meaningful conversation between Palestinians and Israelis and their governments has never been greater. We must listen as well as talk and find a way forward together.
6. Let's compare
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.27.12)
Israel has made many compromises and concessions - the Arabs have done neither. Israel has honored their obligations and more under the treaties that we have signed. The Arabs have violated every single provision of every treaty they have ever signed. In short the Arabs have done nothing but increase their demands and still never offering any sort of peace. Time to remove the illegal Jordanian colonists from our lands.
7. It's not possible to negotiate with Israel
r cummings ,   london UK   (02.27.12)
Israel has set out a dozen or more non-negotiable terms, from keeping East J'lem and taking 10%+ of Palestine to no return or compensation for refugees and a host of demands about how the PA must treat Israel. Problem is, Israel is the Occupying Power and has no right to make any such demands, let alone to expect the occupied people to accede to them. It contravenes about every rule in the international legal book. Israel hasn't even honoured its roadmap commitments yet, which the PA has done fully! The bottom line is that Israel is more interested in stealing land, profiting from it financially and recreating its mythical greater Israel than it is in peace. The nationalist right should enjoy the heady feeling of being modern-day racial colonists and making a quick buck in the bargain. It will all come crumbling down sooner rather than later and the settlers will be back behind the Green Line clutching their suitcases. Great injustices like the occupation and land-grab never endure, Israel lives on borrowed time.
8. r cummings #7 frothing at the mouth again
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.27.12)
This racist has never written a single statement that has any truth to it. We are the legal owners of the land and the Arabs are illegal Jordanian colonists occupying it. They have no legal claim whatsoever and this moron has refused to ever post one. We are not an occupier, because legally it is our lands and we have no obligation to negotiate or give our lands away. We set out our conditions to the Roadmap and have honored what we agreed to. As for the Arabs there is not a single condition that they haven't violated from day one. They have never honored a single line of any agreement they have ever signed for even one day. We have never ever stolen anybody else's land, something the thieving Limeys can't claim. Don't like the facts doesn't give you the right to invent new ones.
9. Too many would-be Arab 'Kings'
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (02.27.12)
And they all want to keep squeezing the pawns. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
10. Peace ONLY via BALANCE, balance ONLY via SECURE BIG ISRAEL.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (02.27.12)
11. A text to be well thought.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (02.28.12)
As one of the true friends of Israel, I have appreciated Yonathan Silverman's text, that is realistic, deserving a good analysis. Of course, the "stalemate" has to be ended. Palestinian State into West Jordan must exist, only if new secure borders are drawed, demilitarization is accepted (and verified) and their leaders, in fact, recognize the Jewish State. Out of it, there will, only, war and destruction, because Israel must continue to defend herself against continued aggressions, that had begun, including, before 1947, since Balfour's Declaration. Nevertheless, despite of the present difficult situation, a honoured peace deserves, yet, a last chance. Nor all Palestines agree with Hamas, Hezbollah or part of Fatah. But, if it is impossible, you will have our support for all necessary acts. We hope "the other side" understands the terrible consequences of a new conflict. We ask you, also, Israelian brothers and sisters, to be firm and, yet, patient. Warm salutes.
12. To: No. 11
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (02.28.12)
Just how much patience are Israelis supposed to have? I tell you, our patience has worn a bit thin over six wars and seven decades of Arab terror. I think "firm" is the way to go. Unyieldingly so, actually. The Jews have sacrificed enough on the altar of Arab intransigence. Sorry.
