31. Alternate one state solution - San Remo conference
rebecca ,   Modiin   (02.29.12)
If this conference goes ahead the history of the setting up of the Jewish state should be on display, San Remo conference, League of Nations on the Jewish state, etc, all of which say that the whole of Israel, incl Judea and Sumaria, should be part of Israel proper, and that Jordan is the Palestinian state.
32. Why do supporters of Israel fear freedom of speech so?
Joseph Blough   (02.29.12)
Americans must not allow themselves to be silenced by pro-Israeli lobbies who seek to misuse the anti-Semitism label to stifle our students freedom to assemble and speak at US universities.
33. Anti-Semitism??
Nir ,   IL   (02.29.12)
With lingo like "Anti-Semitism" and "apartheid" being muttered at every opportunity, it seems the relevance of such terms has vanished. One must distinguish between being "Anti-Semitic" and being "Anti-Israel", THE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME. It's time we start giving more value to our ideological beliefs, and stop shaming our own religion by pointing the finger at Anti-Semitism. I am a Jew, a Zionist and a human being – the three define me, but are not interconnected (i.e. – I can be a Jew and not a Zionist, or a Zionist but not a Jew). Likewise, people who claim to be "Anti-Israel", usually do so as an ideological, NOT RELIGIOUS, opinion. Please stop falsifying the connotation of a group's belief, especially in the title of an article in a well respected newspaper.
34. #6"this small students group such an attention"
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.29.12)
You are missing the point! The point is that such a respected institution like Harvard is hosting an Antisemitic and racist affair which is nothing less than promoting the de-legitimizing the existence of Israel and jeopardizing the survival of the Jewish people! Those who argue that Harvard is exercising its right to allow students freedom of speech and expression are either naive, Antisemitic or just plain stupid! The Constitution of the United States guarantees Freedom of Speech but NOT the propagation hatred and racism! One can only imagine what the academic world in the USA would say if an Israeli University hosted a "One State Conference" for a Arab free Israel!
35. #28: Well said Hameed!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.29.12)
36. Harvard Hate Week
DavidM ,   USA   (02.29.12)
Harvard is hosting an anti-Jewish conference and its administrators know it. Harvard would never host a conference calling for the elimination of any nation other than Israel. Can anyone imagine Harvard hosting a conference calling for the elimination of Saudi Arabia? This is a disturbing pattern at northeastern universities. Last year Yale capitulated and closed a center to study anti-Semitism and last week the University of Pennsylvania hosted a BDS convention. Parents should send their children elsewhere and alumni should cancel their donations.
37. Harvard
Jacob ,   London, England   (02.29.12)
It's gone way downhill since then.
38. #1
Sam M ,   UK   (02.29.12)
Israel is a thriving democracy, a hi-tech superpower and moreover an example of what the arab world could be like. You should direct your attention to the real human rights abuses taking place throughout the arab world instead of posting boring, misinformed drivel like a mindless sheep. I suggest you prepare yourself for spain's imminent bankruptcy and however modest I suspect your talents are save them for the coming economic storm!
39. If this was any College anywhere but in USA. American talkba
Danit ,   Israel   (02.29.12)
talkbackers who regularly read an d comment on Ynet would have flooded this article with empty nonsense lines like Europe is sharia now, Australia will be Islamic in 10 years, Britain has bowed to its muslim masters, Canada reeps what it sows to the Muslims.. But when it is an American college, where are the American talkbacks - just a thought..
40. #32
Harrybaby ,   Canada   (02.29.12)
You do not speak for the US and they are not "your" students. Clearly you are one of those fools who does not know the difference between free speech and hate speech...the definition of an anti Semite in sheeps clothing. You ask why? Go look in the mirror. You are part of the problem.
41. Islamist antisemitism is there for all to see on MEMRI
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (02.29.12)
42. #33 Nir, I agree, well said. Ignore the demagogues.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.29.12)
People link the terms Anti-Semitic and Anti-Israel for propaganda purposes mostly. But they are a noisy minority. Wiser ones will know to read on Bloomberg.com, for instance, an article about the Harvard conference by Jeffrey Goldberg, a positive and even-headed analysis. This is a conference at Harvard, a free expression of ideas; demagogues need not attend. The rest of us will keep our heads above the noise level to recognize the things that really matter.
43. 'one state'
moron ,   galut   (02.29.12)
jordan is arab palestine--see maps
44. Why doesn't Harvard have an end to the United States as well
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.29.12)
Then the uppity clowns can give back all the land stolen from the American Indians. Just like Israel was given back the land that the Palestinians stole from them centuries ago.
45. Speaking out against israel is certainly not anti-semitic
palestinian semite ,   las vegas   (02.29.12)
The world is tired of hearing the abused term "anti-semitic".
46. Palestinian? Its how you speak out. and what you show on
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (02.29.12)
Al Aqsa TV ,in your school texts, the outright racist lies that come from your state controlled media that says it all.Instead of Taqiya try PMW & MEMRI
47. Camera shows what a liar Ilan Pappe is
Dan Kelso   (02.29.12)
One of the speakers at the conference is Pro homicide bombing professor against Israeli civilians Ilan Pappe. We all know about his Tentura massacre lie claim which was exposed in Israeli court. It turned out to be a fraud. Camera has exposed this guy for more lies. This guy should be head writer of Pallywood. Just google, Did Pappé Invent Another Quote?
48. to #45 wonder if you can say the same on syria
ghostq   (02.29.12)
49. #8 Medinat Yisrael, is not Biblical Israel
Fed Up US Taxpayer   (02.29.12)
50. This people are nothing but jew haters
Fernando ,   Texas USA   (02.29.12)
If they really care so much about the suffering of the people in the Middle East, they should be protesting the Killing of civilians in Siria. But no they just want Israel destroyed. Well is not going to happen.
51. TRULY ROTTEN PEOPLE
STEVE ,   Ra'anana   (02.29.12)
Harvard would never sponsor or allow students to sponsor conferences such as: Castrate Homosexuals -- A Solution for Aids, Boycott all Moslem States, Slavery–A Solution for Unemployment, or Women--Back to the Kitchen. These are absurd examples. But somehow, in its concern for student rights Harvard allows a conference that might be entitled, The End of the Jewish State -- Peace at our Doorstep. This blatant and absurd conference subject is an example of political correctness run amok. Harvard University must examine far more carefully why not everything its brilliant faculty and intellectually endowed students suggest is morally and ethically correct. This proves that being quite smart does not prevent exceptional stupidity
52. to 1
jamila ,   yatta   (02.29.12)
53. NAFTULES, #20, YOU ARE A GENIUS!
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (02.29.12)
How come no one else has thought about it? You can write a book about this idea. and maybe include some dating tips there, and the technique how to guess the lottery numbers.
54. Speaking out against israel is certainly not anti-semitic
tzvi ,   brooklyn, USA   (02.29.12)
It is antisemitic, because it's expressing the desire to destroy the Jewish homeland, which is a direct hatred against the jews. Anyone who says it isn't is just denying the truth of what is happening, or is just as antisemitic them selves trying to cover it up. I think the only one who is tired of hearing about this is you.
55. #45 That really depends...
Phil ,   Ireland   (02.29.12)
When you speak out against Israel, are you speaking out against the Jews of Israel or Jews and Arabs? If it's the former, then it IS anti-Semitic. The term anti-Semitism refers specifically to Jews.
56. #39 danit
solomon ,   bklyn   (03.01.12)
There are American posts here. You do know how to read, yes? Just a thought.
57. #15, #32, #33, #42, #44, #45
solomon ,   bklyn   (03.01.12)
"Anti-Israel" has become a cover for anti-semitism. The one-state "solution" is a euphamism for the destruction of Israel. You are not blind and know all this, but you still try to convince others of your 'rationality' when nothing could be further from the truth. Wiser ones see through you like glass. Where ever Israel is condemned, you will hear the word "Jew" more than "Israeli". The same will happen in this conference. Only those blind enough to believe your attempts at dissimulation will be convinced. Or those who know the true purpose of this "conference"; to get rid of the Jewish State of Israel, and thereby the Jews. Students have freedom to speak at universities, but there are limits to free speech when it comes to disseminating hate. And there is no "freedom" for any organization to hold an event at a university; the university must agree and the event should hold to proper norms. Hate speech is not one of those norms. (Before you protest that this is not hate speech, please print a list of speakers invited. Specify which ones will speak against a one state "solution". This is, after all, a 'conference' in which there will be an exchange of views, yes?) An even worse problem is that many of you may even believe the words you are saying and don't see the fallacy behind them. Pity.
58. #34 Thanks for naming me stupid! Nice behaviour.
