31. Herzog's Brooklyn Bridge
Ed ,   USA   (03.01.12)
How many times has Herzog bought the Brooklyn Bridge? After Assad relations with Syria will deteriorate. Has Israel's relations with Egypt or Libya improved?
32. Ploy
tombaka ,   Florida   (03.01.12)
This is nothing more than a ploy to get arms or any other type of foreign aid. If one believes that these people want to be buddy buddy with Israel I'm the Pope.
33. Real Peace Yes..
ben zeev ,   haolam   (03.01.12)
but Golan will always be part of Israel! It was won back, fair and square with jewish blood in 67. Inshallah habeebi !
34. And we are supposed to believe this
Harrybaby ,   Canada   (03.01.12)
These people represent the Muslim brotherhood and Saudi Arabia. They will say anything to anybody whom they think will help them. In this case the Americans. They should ask their friends, the elitist left and Erdogan for help. Maybe send a flotilla. The Syrians would get rid of them once and for all. Zero sympathy for the rebels or the Syrian army. All the same garbage.
35. Herzog is an idiot!
Rachel ,   US   (03.01.12)
The only reason the rebels are not as ruthless as Assad is because they don't have the weapons. Let them get in control of Syria.
36. Alawi rule gone, Muslim rule begins?
David N. ,   Haifa, ISRAEL   (03.01.12)
The Golan was included in the Mandate given to Britain, and in contravention of the agreement for ALL parties to be consulted, was cut off and given to the French Syrian mandate AFTER France and Britain began to rule. It really isn't "conquered" Syria, but returned land to both the legal mandate, and ancient Israeli borders. SO: let's not anyone talk about peace attached to giving up part of Israel under the mistaken notion that we need to reward normal, moral behaviour by giving our land to much larger Syria. A post-Assad era is the end of the superficially Islamicized pagan Alawi rule is just the beginning of Muslim rule.
37. I'd be ashamed to tell such BS if I were Hertzog.
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.01.12)
38. At what price?
Mark ,   Elrom   (03.01.12)
39. Okay...good, but FORGET about the Golan !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (03.01.12)
40. As delirious as Peres who in 1994 said:
Sergio ,   Turin, Italy   (03.01.12)
"Soon Israel will be part of the Arab League" as one of his promos to the Oslo failure. These people seem not to be able to stop lying to promote their appeasement pacifake ideology!
41. Hopeful, BUT so far Arab Spring=Islamism. Why not in Syria?
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (03.01.12)
42. Naive to believe the rebels
Ted   (03.01.12)
whom Clinton identified as working with Al Qaeda. i hope Herzog will get over this false illusion.
43. Baloney! Baloney! Baloney!
Taz Man ,   USA   (03.01.12)
If the opposition wins, it is most likely the Muslim Brotherhood who will gain power, just like all the other dictators' who have gone down. They're trying to form their evil-planned Caliphate, which in turn will re-focus and attack Israel--guaranteed! God bless, Israel and His Jerusalem! A Christian Zionist
44. Oh, please...give me a freakin' break!
Z.Z. Coltrane ,   USA   (03.01.12)
This is just another political ploy to garnish Western support.
45. They want the Golan
Yael Schlichting ,   Raubling - Germany   (03.01.12)
The way to peace goes via 1. friendly relations 1. disarmament and demobilization to a reasonable size 2. cultural and economic cooperation 3. normalization treaties 4. not cooperating with powers that do not the same .... And then a peace treaty will only be a matter of form. We cannot give away the Golan AND we cannot effort a situation, where a partner in peace suddenly is challenging the peace treaty. The peace must be a matter of fact. It must not take a sponsor who invests billions of dollars and mainly supplying the former enemy with weapons like Abrams battle tanks and F-16 fighter jets like it happened in Egypt.
46. ISRAEL, SYRIA, IT''S PEOPLE(S)...
SJOERD RUURD ,   PLANET EARTH   (03.01.12)
SUCH A PROMISE COULD BECOME A DUTY, WHEN IT CAN BE REALISED...
47. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sharia is very democratic.
Miron ,   USA   (03.01.12)
48. why would they tell it to a politician from a washedup party
ronen   (03.01.12)
49. The rebels belong to Muslim Brotherhood
(03.01.12)
I don't see them being neither "peaceful" nor "friendly" to Israel and the Jews. Proof is in the pudding and words are cheap. Let's see them ACT not "talk" on Peace and Freindship. THEN we'll believe.
50. #6... hmmm, you sound like an Assad sympathizer to me...
(03.01.12)
This is EXACTLY what the Syrian army has been doing to these rebels - sans the suicide bombs and child soldiers, which are the exclusinve hallmark of the Palestinian "heroes". I think that the buffoon is you, Sir!
51. #19 hohohoho! Nice try, pal! Same Assad agent rhetoric
we hear every day   (03.01.12)
52. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.01.12)
You need to get back on your anti-psychotic medication. Do you check the toilet for snakes before you sit down, too?
53. To: No. 44
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.01.12)
Could you explain? You either mean "garner" or "tarnish," as nearly as I can figure, and I'm pretty smart. What you definitely do not mean is "garnish." Please clarify.
54. 'Pull the other leg, it's got bells on it !
Rob ,   Orangevale U.S.A.   (03.01.12)
55. 52
john Darren ,   cairns-Australia   (03.02.12)
No need to check-he has hands around his trouser snake.
56. NOT!
Pffft ,   damascus   (03.02.12)
This is no ploy the rebels are using for western backing, as the west already backs them, just as they back Tunis' & Egypt's majority Islamic government. Israel can only keep building settlements illegally which is in its best interest, as it will give it a lot of bargaining power when they hand over the land back to the rightful owners who were evicted illegally under international, WITH BRAND NEW CONDOMINIUMS built over ram shackle structures that were their before the land was accosted.
57. But Israel doesn't want peace.
Rich ,   Toronto, Canada   (03.10.12)
58. Herzog's sources
Get Real ,   UK   (01.11.13)
'Herzog refused to name his sources because he said they fear retribution by Assad'. More likely his sources fear retribution by the rebels. Israel should indeed 'listen to Syria's rebels'. Forewarned is Forearmed.
