1. This is the first serious statement from U.S. [end].
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (03.01.12)
2. Right, trust a muzlum pres. who hates Jews to drop nukes
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.01.12)
on iran. Oh yeah for sure.
3. Tactical nuclear weapons
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (03.01.12)
Tactical nuclear weapons have great potential as bunker busters, so why are they not being talked about? The shock wave from such an intense underground explosion would cause damage deep in the earth and would presumably destroy even the most well-fortified bunker.
4. Mixed Messages
Devorah   (03.01.12)
On 2/24, the U.S. said it did not believe Iran was developing nuclear weapons per this Ynet article: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4194307,00.html Three days ago, I read that the U.S. has "thousands" of troops positioned on a Yemeni island in the event of a strike on Iran. Then yesterday, the IAEA said it needs to make an "urgent" visit to Iran based on intel it received. Also yesterday, Israel wants to starve Iran. And now the U.S. has this contingency for striking Iran. In the space of four days, it appears the situation went from zero to full throttle - sort of. What do you dear talkbackers make of this? Any thoughts?
5. US resigning itself to at least unilateral Israeli action.
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (03.01.12)
6. Iran must boycott Nukes - its Jewish Technology [End]
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (03.01.12)
7. This was predictable. Anyone read today's Haaretz?
Vlad   (03.01.12)
It revealed that Netanyahu would ask the United States to threaten an Iran strike. I guess this is the best Obama can do.
8. Stop talking....
tombaka ,   Florida   (03.01.12)
And playing what ifs and get on with it to find out that they are no different than Saddam in that they are all talk.
9. I'll believe it...when I see it!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (03.01.12)
Don't trust Obama and his cronies! They hate Israel! However, there are a lot of Israeli supporters, such as myself, who can put a lot of pressure on Obama to do the right thing and militarily help Israel. We'll just have to wait and see. Truth be said: Israel has Obama by the gonads (politically speaking). God bless, Israel; praying for the peace of Jerusalem! Christian Zionist
10. hate to say 'I told you so..
er der   (03.01.12)
but 'I told you so'.
11. THE UNITED STATES, IRAN...
SJOERD RUURD ,   PLANET EARTH   (03.01.12)
IF THAT ONLY REMAINS IN PLAN, AS LONG AS IRAN HAS NOT ATTACKED ANOTHER COUNTRY. THEN ALSO AN INSTITUTION AS THE ENTIRE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION/MANKIND SHOULD BE CONSULTED...
12. Obama meaning: "absolutely necessary" = if Iran nukes J'lem
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (03.01.12)
"bases and revolutionary guard headquarters".. Riiight. Every American and every Israeli knows that Obama is not going to do a damn thing in response to even an Iranian nuclear attack on Israel except to demand they Israel not launch all-out retaliation with dozens of nuclear warheads, destroying every Iranian city, base and oil installation for good, and killing all 75 million Iranians. [this would only take about 1/5th of Israel's nuclear stockpile, 40-45 250 kiloton hydrogen warheads]. Obama's total lack of deterrence planning is the reason the mullahs think they can get away with destroying Israel. And why Egypt thinks they can get away with putting US NGOs on trial. Bluster by Obama and Clinton aimed only at israel
13. Vlad Do you take those headlines seriously.? They
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.01.12)
are there for their market of leftists/Islamists and Jew baiters. "Anonymous" leak just before going to see the president and after Netanyahu called for no further public discussion by his administration. Who benefited from all that??
14. all options on the table for the last Decade !!!,
Arn. ,   Seden.   (03.01.12)
I am so impressed !!!. But what says the Commander in Chief ? Only as a last resort ? Oh - I am so impressed !!!. Diplomacy backed by threaths the last Decade as a last resort. Impressive !!!. Arn.Sweden
15. US contingencies
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (03.01.12)
The US military had plans for every possible situation, including an all out thermo nuclear war between NATO and Warsaw Pact. But the interesting question is: who should order a strike against Iran? Barakeh Hussein Obama definitely not.
16. Do not trust the U.S. ...
ex-frummie ,   johannesburg S.A.   (03.01.12)
This latest verbal diarrhoea out of the white house is timed for Bibi's visit - the U.S. under this current regime has absolutely NO intention of bombing Iran. Israel as usual you are on your own. I had hoped Obama would be unseated in November but with this pathetic Republican line-up he looks sure to be re-elected. Bad news for Israel and stability in the Middle East. History will not look back kindly on this Administration and I am surprised Hillary has stuck around only to tarnish her name. She should have followed Colin Powell and done the honourable thing.
17. #4: Devorah
Israeli 2   (03.01.12)
When push comes to shove, the USA will have no choice but to be on Israel's side - grudgingly or otherwise...whether it is President Banana or the Lone Ranger. The mixed signals are done purposefully to confuse and annoy the Iranians. After all, what is better than to give up nuclear weaponry altogether - like the North Koreans did. The problem with North Korea however is that they just say it but do not mean it. They want to confuse and trick the world by making them believe that Iran too could be convinced to give up their nuclear ambitions if given sufficient time. Come to think of it how Hillary Clinton is smiling with pride and ecstasy at the announcement. This administration should be dubbed: The Chamberlains.
18. Good to know Im one of the 81%.Israel MUST NOTgo it alone!
Alan ,   SA   (03.01.12)
19. #14 - actions of this kind should always be carried out
Michael Redbourn ,   Arad Israel   (03.01.12)
at the last possible moment. That way you do the most amount of damage. Any other action would be foolish. You attack after a few months of work and you destroy a few months of work. Attacking now will destroy a decade of work.
20. #17 - Israeli 2
Devorah   (03.01.12)
Thank you. I wonder how Iran is perceiving all of this and what they are going to do about it. I do agree that the U.S. is showboating and would only strike Iran if it is up against the ropes because Obama does not want to anger his muslim brothers. In fact, his personal agenda, and that of his administration, has the world on a see-saw, and no one says a word. "The Chamberlains." Yes, indeed!
21. When push comes to shove???????
Sami ,   Palestine   (03.01.12)
Despites the dislikes of IRAN among the Arab world, attacking it won't be a walk in the park. Time will tell. Israel's AIPAC and company will be remembered as the one who added to a weakened US's economy and caused huge negative effects on it.
22. #11 So your philosophy is....
Phil ,   Ireland   (03.01.12)
Wait until Iran attacks and kills other people before any action can be taken. I'm glad you won't be let near any government position! Mind your own business.
23. AhMADinejad..MAD is his middle name
Tim ,   Brighton   (03.01.12)
The creshendo of extreme vitriole day by day coming from that regime suggests a sense of desperation and they have completely lost their way They say they want peace but threaten attacking their neighbours They say they want peace but support the worlds largest network of terror groups They say they want peace but want full control of Hormuz They say they want peace but wont cooperate with the IAEA to reassure the world they are not about to develop nuclear bombs They say they want peace yet seek to deny the Holocaust They say they want peace but are caught attempting to muder the Saudi Ambassador in the USA They say they want peace but posture for war... So what is the world to believe? What a crying shame that this regime have chosen to squander all their resources, their energy, their inventiveness, their culture...squandered and impoverish generations to come all in the name of...a nuclear bomb! And seeing AhMADinejad showering BLESSINGS in front of the world media over a ....Nuclear Fuel Rod...just beggars belief
24. DRAWING PLANS IS THE FIRST
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (03.01.12)
Requirement in war.If we are being told that USA has plans what does that mean?Of course you need to have plans drawn up. Whilst. you remain drawing up plans be assured of exactly the same being done by the Iranians. Some surprises are definitely there in store for eventual Persian Gulf scenerio.
25. Nr 19. How Clever you are -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (03.01.12)
To wait for Hitler-Germany and Imperial Japan before the Seconf World War, realy prove your standpoint of Cleverness. Arn.Sweden.
26. what can you do ???
mohamed ,   egypt   (03.01.12)
we all saw what can you do in Afghanistan ....which is nothing ...from lose to lose Iraq to Afghanistan,,,,,lol
27. Ask Congress
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (03.01.12)
For some reason, lots of Israelis think the US President is a king. Not true. The power to declare war is Congressional. The President just commands the troops. The President is not allowed to just start a war. Congress has to agree if the US is not under attack. Unlike Israel, the US has written rules for who can and cannot start a war. We also have rules for paying bills. Congress is supposed to do both. Those who want a war should be asking Congress to declare it and pay for it. It may only run a few trillion dollars. Or like Iraq, it may pay for itself and be greeted with flowers. Piece of Cake.
28. 15 Albrecht - There are Rules
Mark of Lewiston ,   Lewiston, USA   (03.01.12)
The US has written rules (our Constitution) on who can start a war. If the US is not under attack, Congress has to be involved. You and a lot of Israelis seem to think that there is a difference between a strike and a war. That is not the case. A rose is a rose. A strike is an act of war. And the rules exist because we don't have a king who can order a war on his own. Netanyahu can ask Congress Monday. It took only 15 minutes the last time.
29. It's a trick. Don't trust Obama. Period.
Steve Klein   (03.01.12)
Just as Iran is trying to buy time for itself by urging a return to negotiations, so Obama is trying to buy time for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
30. #25 No one is as clever as you
Cynthia ,   Canada   (03.01.12)
Arn, you are the epitome of the Jewish intellect. Who can argue with your clear, concise posts and impeccable logic? Truly, when people think of Jews, they think of people like you.
