1. Give me a break!
Oleg ,   USA   (03.03.12)
Iran will face the same situation, even on much larger scale. Their oil supply will be disrupted to the point, that they won't be able to support any military mission. No money, no weapons, no power will lead to elimination of this regime.
2. He wants to be the leader of a new party?
FO ,   Belgium   (03.03.12)
Very easy ti tell what Israel shouldn't do. Obama will appreciate ! But no guts to tell what to do, and even worse, regarding this matter, not the intelligence to shut up.
3. Wow! that is SOOO deep
Bruno   (03.03.12)
Is this example of thinking half a move ahead supposed to be an example of Yair Lapid's strategic thinking?
4. The Source
Ben Cartright ,   Los Angeles USA   (03.03.12)
Yes indeedy! The Source! The Source is a man that is too much in favor of Iran. As Iran fires four or five missiles a day, Israel of course will sit there with catcher's mitts on and catch them there missiles but do nothing else. No retaliation, just sitting back, having a delicious cup of coffee and greasing up their catchers mitts. The source!
5. Mr. Lapid's nuclear scenario
Elie Abitbol ,   Canada   (03.03.12)
Mr. Lapid When you entered politics, I really thought you were going to be different. Unfortunately you are already sounding like a demagogue. Your scare tactics are really nonsense. Iran will not launch daily attacks, because the results will be devastating for them too. Israel will not become a no-man's land in the same way nothing happened after the destruction of the reactors in Iraq and Syria. Iran is a bully which has to be stopped. If Mr. Obama and the European powers showed more determination the world would not face the problem it is facing today. Iran has to be faced by a determined USA/Israel/European coalition. Only then will they stop.
6. Oh well...
Hertzel ,   Tveria   (03.03.12)
Firstly 5-6 a month is a perfect testing for the sophisticated Israeli Hetz to show the world how effective it is. Secondly, Israel will not sit on it's hands while they keep firing at us, Teheran will also be pounded, so Mr. senior official, calm down.....
7. Answers? ou want me to have,....
Gideon Reader   (03.03.12)
...answers? Are you crazy? You want ME to have solutions and answers? I only have questions. Now. Can I have an appointment to some nice cushy position where I can pontificate and draw a nice stipend. And an Audi. Dont forget the Audi. An armoured one. With a driver. And lunch. Dont forget. paid lunches.
8. if 5 or 6 missles a month
JL   (03.03.12)
is enough to close us down....then maybe we should all just leave...
9. Think different
Norman ,   france, Eurabia   (03.03.12)
And you think Israel will wait two years without reaction ? You are a joke... two month after the first missile, Lebanon should be a stone age country ;-)
10. Iran economy is vulnerable as well
Adsel   (03.03.12)
Their oil fields are combustible, aren't they? Maybe they would think twice about prolonging the conflict.
11. Are that out of touch
Almog Koren ,   Israel / Untied Stat   (03.03.12)
As time pass I'm starting to question Yair Lapid fit as a party leader. The scenario that is suggested would be perfect for Israel and would be a great thing. First Iran has oil refineries out in the open that can be targeted with ease. Not including ports, airport, ect.. Most of these targets could be destroyed with missiles, and drones. Point being this outcome would do more damage to Iran then anyone else. What about history Egypt tired the same thing "the war of attrition" and at the end Egypt suffered much more damage then anyone else.
12. day after Iran bombed
jayampathi de silva ,   Seeduwa,Sri Lanka   (03.03.12)
I am totally disagree. Israel first.then Us will follows. But that s not the point! Iran's nuclear sites and elite revolutionary guard concentrated sites would be destroyed in minutes! But that s not the point. Iran would respond with ballistic or long range missiles which are capable of penetrating deep into the surface and destroyed every thing . i am not reveal what happens next! But history would be re written . just think about the 'place' that those destruction happens! My opinion is that, this war would benefit the Jewish people .
13. Let me complete this scenario,
saeid   (03.03.12)
Attacking to offshore gas rigs, will cost israel too many.penetration by iranian special forces from israeli shores.firing biological missiles will pollute all israeli crops.
14. 5-6 a day, then what about Arrow system.
leo ,   usa   (03.03.12)
15. Wars create their own dynamics
Tom ,   PA   (03.03.12)
...and if Israel strikes Iran, an unknown dynamic will occur. The author of the article speaks of ONE possible scenario. Needless to say, Iran's response to an Israeli strike will almost certainly be something that no one has predicted. And what happens after this are also unpredictable as, again, wars create their own dynamics. But that a larger war might occur, one that finds Israel attacked from all sides, is highly likely in a number of different scenarios. Right now Israel has the world backing its pursuit of eliminating Iran's ability to build a nuclear bomb. If Israel overreacts, it will lose this support and sympathy will shift to Iran. The US is doing much to prevent Iran from being able to build a nuclear bomb. The EU, after some pushing and shoving, is now fully on board. Israel should pause before doing anything rash as one misstep might cause Israelis to (again) find themselves without a state.
16. lapid's olmert's thinking
alexi   (03.03.12)
suppose iran did what lapid say. israel would strike teheran on a regularbasis the same way to make life unbearab le for t he kameinei illegal regime. lapid is in a practical way an idiot like olmert. He is the same guy. Oh yes, he writes and speaks eloquently but he is full of crap in the real world of blood, fire and leading israel. ''Livni was viewed as some saint and in reality she is an idiot. My sister told me years ago that olmert was a rising star and now she hides when his name comes up. lapid is cut from the same stock and would be a disaster for israel.
17. Day two after an attack
Avramele   (03.03.12)
We have to assume that between the Americans and the Israeli intelligience circles serious scenario planning is underway that neither we talkbacks or Mr. Lapid can trump with our brilliance. Just know that what happens on day two and beyond is the real exposure and The true unknown.
18. 5 or 6 missles??
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (03.03.12)
Wait a minute the Iranians fire 10 or 12 a month now through their proxies in Hamas
19. Senior source?
Sandra ,   Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv   (03.03.12)
Just who is this senior source? And where does he/her get the authority/information to make such claims? If this is an example of Lapid's journalistic prowess, then what can possibly be expected from his political ambitions? The truth is that the rest of the Western world is patiently waiting for Israel to make exactly this move, so that no one else should take the blame or suffer any retaliations, and no one can possibly predict what will be the result of that, i.e. repercussions from our Arab neighbours.
20. Scared cat!!!! Go cry to your mom!
Phoenix ,   Israel   (03.03.12)
I totally hope this yellow liberal will never ever get an important place in the Knesset. Scared cat, cry baby. We do not need more people without guts.
21. consequences of iran strike
yonatan silverman ,   tel aviv israel   (03.03.12)
a conventional military strike against iran is folly - it wil only serve to infame them and cause a long war, The only logical option for attacking iran is a nuclear strike - massive pre-emptive. This is the only tactic that will serve the purpose of halting their nuclear bomb ambitions and also set back radical islam decades
22. lets talk abotu iran and nukes
jeff ,   Beverly Hills, CA   (03.03.12)
iran gets nukes, next day? well they will make verbal threats like they do now, but this time they have nukes, and they might use them, what then?
23. Nuke Iran
Naftali ,   Israel   (03.03.12)
Lets face it Iran wants nukes so they can fire them at us. Lets not give them the chance. Nuke them now send them back to the stone age all they will be able to do for the next 50 years is rebuild their country. I know that the international community will rebuke us and chastise us but they will do this regardless what is the down side. I don't want to see innocent people killed but the fact is they are leaving us no choice. When someone comes into your house with a gun you kill them no questions asked. Building weapons that can hurt us while saying they want to destroy us is the same thing.
24. ATTACKING IRAN
Imehobong ,   Stone mountain   (03.03.12)
Inrespect of the zionist attacking iran. i beg your pardon ahmadinejah want 2 produce nuclear bomb 2 weep away the zionist. if israel is afraid of iran now one day there taught of weeping israel out of the earth will come 2 pass. if iran cross the red zone israel should lunch an attack, israel has more than 300 nuclear weapons use it on iran b4 d persia called iran will destroy israel. the zionist should check the book of prophesy & study it. we d american LUV U
25. Doing Nothing.....then one day two bombs go off.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (03.03.12)
Tel Aviv and Jerusalem vanish in a nuclear cloud of dust and fire. We should probably let the sanctions work???? Besides....the Iranians are already using their little proxies to send in rockets every day right now. You are already at war with a country that hasn't tasted what the same rockets raining down on their people feels like. But you really think Iran is going to stop their little war with Israel????
26. Yair, pleeze. .. Go Away
Roy ,   Miami   (03.03.12)
You seem to engage your mouth without using your brain. Oy if you are elected!
27. ISRAELIS, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE MAKE BELIEVE IRAN BOOGEYMAN
Mad Bomber ,   ATLANTA GA USA   (03.03.12)
IT'S A LOAD OF INVENTED DUNG... THERE IS NO TERRIBLE 'retribution' iranian THREAT...IRAN DOESN'T WANT A WAR, OR TO HAVE IT'S INFRASTRUCTURE TOTALLED OUT...NO WATER, NO ELECTRICITY, NO POWER, NO RADAR, NO RADIO , TV OR THE INTERNET. Just the republican guards firing artillery at themselves, as the REBELS STORM THE GATES...? I don't think they'll do squat ! ...besides, ISRAEL was given the Russian installed radar codes, besides the US stealth fighters knock it out anyway, the Israeli and USA counter measure missiles knock holes in the 1980's iranian air defences and everybody piles in to launch missiles through the holes punched, like saddam's hollow 4th largest ex-army in the world... as far as Gaza is concerned, shooting fish in a barrel... and as for HEZ...here's Israel's 2nd chance at nailing their coffins closed, since Israel knows where EVERY MISSILE IS HIDDEN! All in one swoop, with Syria flat on it's face, Egypt in disarray, the real problem would be BACKSTABBING BY TURKEY. and the ISRAELI ARABS/MKs.
28. is this guy is for real????
les ,   canada   (03.03.12)
lapid seem to have a slight mental defficiency. so, israel will shot down for two years, have people starve to death, let the country go to hell, while the IDF and IAF sits around dudleing their fingers. MAN, STOP SMOKING THE STUFF IF YOU WANT TO BE A POLITICIAN...or maybe should keep at it?..... :))
29. I wanted to say something, you know what? Fugetabutit!
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.03.12)

ambrosine shitrit ,   london uk   (03.03.12)
