so make this one a cook in the rear lines, and make the dishes his M.O.S.. (military occupational specialty). After he gets out of the brig I mean. It should be rather obvious that he shouldn't be trusted as a squad leader of some combat unit. Sometime reality bites just like pit bull fights, but at least he didn't cause another national disaster. Yet. Shalom Israel, Rob
5. thank god he's okay!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (03.05.12)
other than the publicity, there's nothing very newsworthy about a recruit washing out of "kurs tayis". he'll just have to work it out for himself and get on with his life. hopefully, with a little less media attention.
6. #5; Yes, but you just don't get it!

On 25 June 2006 an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists, an event which dominated the headlines in Israel until his release on 18 October 2011! The cost of his release was the freeing of 1027 terrorists, many with blood on their hands. This idiot 19 year old took himself off to Eilat knowing damn well that his disappearance would put Israel into "a soldier kidnapped panic" and hundreds of people started to search for him at a huge cost! No one is conscripted into Flying School! If he didn't want to fly he could have have chosen many other units as an alternative. Conscription or not, this stupid kid just didn't care about the anguish of his parents and friends. He deserves to be court-martialed and then dishonorably discharged! As for your remark "there's nothing very newsworthy" you obviously are not an Israeli or a Jew. We value life and care for our kids, unlike our enemies, and as a Canadian, where your biggest concern is whether or not to slaughter baby seals, you have no idea how we, the parents of soldiers, past and present, feel when one goes missing, gets hurt or pays the highest price for Israel! By the way, who said he washed out of "kurs tayis"?

He's been on vacation! But if you mean that you are glad he didn't do himself self-harm, I do agree with that.
