31. Her death was unfortunate....
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (03.08.12)
but her life as "peace activist" absurd. St. Pancake was a foolish girl looking to vent her aggression in a cause. She chose her cause badly and died attempting to be a heroine. #2, go slither back under your rock.
32. A solution
Gordon J Bronitsky ,   Albuquerque, NM   (03.08.12)
Perhaps Jarda is right. Why not get the Israelis out of "Palestine" and bring all 8 million of them to the Czech Republic? Surely if they're not welcome in "Palestine" they'll be welcome in Prague!
33. Blueberry? Or the Traditional favorite
Gideon Reader   (03.08.12)
...Mea Achuz Vermont Maple? Notwithstanding the present location of this essay, a half dozen well done Jimmy Dean's, will definitely enhance the plate as well. The lowered profile Rachel Corrie never fails to remind me of hot strong black coffee, crisp linen and a bright fall mornings breakgast. Makes me want to "run like a Deere", dear.
34. yada, yada, yada - insert usual rightwing lies - yada, yada

35. # 25 Jarda
David Israel ,   New York USA   (03.08.12)
Jews originated in Palestine and despite all the forced exiles there has always been a Jewish presence in the land. When your grandparents were helping the slaughter of Jews those who luckily escaped returned to their ancestoral homeland. They did not steal anything. In fact today 20%. Of Israelis are Arsbs.
36. STRIKING A CHORD
Brant ,   Hilton Head USA   (03.08.12)
Thanks to Giulio Meotti for this article. The greatest measure of the truth of such a piece is the fierce reaction of the purveyors and sustainers of the myth to which the writer refers. The Israel-hating, (frequently also Jew-hating) holier-than-thou BDS and its doctrinaire ideologues on campuses, some churches and on much of the "left" join in an all points attack on the writer; not his facts. They call him names. Or they write insanely stupid things suggesting that the world began in 1948. Some of these cold-hearted camp followers dismiss all the Israeli deaths (in fact just the ones named Rachel are listed) suggesting they never would been slaughetered if only israel hadn't occupied "Palestine". But, try to get just one of these professors or their sheep to think for just a second about why the Palestine Liberation Organization was created in 1964 and started blowing people and planes up ...all of it three years BEFORE the occupation and these thinkers become dunces. So, Mr. Meotti, thank you, You are probably fighting a losing battle, but at least you are fighting it and the value of your clarity is mirrored by the defensive and sarcastic and ad hominem inanities of those who prefer to do their work unchallenged.
37. If she hadn't of come here - she'd still be alive

38. Find a better martyr
Steve ,   USA   (03.08.12)
Having spent time operating a Cat D4 (considerably smaller than the D9 which was the unit involved in the Corrie suicide) I can state authoritatively that the visibility from the operators seat is marginal at best and with the bucket deployed and the operators frontal vision further disrupted by the caged enclosure of that particular model it is incumbent upon those in the vicinity to remain no closer than 60 feet from the machine while in operation. One can be no more sympathetic to fate of this the errant agitiator than someone who stands ten feet away from a 747 intake during take off and gets sucked into the engine. Stupid is as stupid does and Corrie was too naive and/or too blinded by hatred to care that she had placed herself in a precarious position (she was not chased down by this machine). Allow the Israel haters to celebrate the life of this foolish woman who was rather short on the common sense one would expect of a ten year old, she is perfectly emblematic of their pathetic movement.
39. JARDA @ #25
Brant ,   Hilton Head USA   (03.08.12)
Is Czech education so corrup that you have not heard that civilization began before Israel was reborn in 1948? If the Jews "stole" any land, they "stole" their own; which had been stolen from them 2000 years before and then stolen vy a succession of Arabs, Mamalukes, Turks and then Brits in 1917. "Palestine" what is that but the name they gave to Judea after the Jews revolted against Roman occupation. Look it up, Jarda. Look it up.
40. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.08.12)
If European invaders would have left Canada instead of murdering natives left and right, think how many native Canadians would still be alive, instead of being massacred and their progeny herded into despicable reservations! When will compensation for all those native dead become part and parcel of Canadian policy? Today Ontario -- tomorrow perhaps the rest of the provinces. Don't much like it when your silly words are tossed right back at you, do you? The only diffrerence is that the only people that have a claim to the lands in question in the Middle East are the Jews. Going back nearly six thousand years. Everyone since is an invader and an illegal squatter. You know, just like the Europeans who invaded present-day Canada. Chew on that, for a bit, why don't you? You might actually learn something -- assuming you are capable of reasoned study.
41. #2..."palestine"?
One4Zion ,   Canada   (03.08.12)
What is "palestine"??...was it ever a country? it's just a mythical place, like the myth of "peace activist" Corrie...arabs love to fabricate lies...but the lie of "palestine" won't fly... There was NEVER a "palestine"...there isn't a "palestine" and, trust me, there WILL NEVER be a "palestine...nuff said..
42. To: Gordon at No. 32
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.08.12)
I appreciate your reasoning, but I wish to remind you that Jerusalem is in Israel. Not Prague. More Jews died in Prague at the hands of "Christians" than it is possible to recount. Frankly, all of Europe -- especially Central and Eastern Europe -- is one giant Jewish cemetery. Perhaps we can send the ersatz "Palestinians" who illegally squat in Medinat Israel to Prague. I'm sure they'll welcome them with absolutely open arms. At least until they take hold and destroy Czech society just as they have done throughout Europe. Church bells and four a.m. calls from the minaret. Frankly, I am much looking forward to the prospect.
43. corrie ,a myth?
oded ,   the us of A   (03.08.12)
i'd hate to break it to you all, but corrie is barely a dot on anyone's radar ..except , of course, the arabs, the anarchasits of all kind, and the other loons who wonder in and out of asylums and rehab centers.
44. It's her mothers fault
Ben ,   Free world   (03.08.12)

46. rachel corrie myth
rabbi dr meir zev we ,   jerusalem israel   (03.08.12)
see genesis12-3 ; God told abraham.... ..."and i will bless them that bless thee, and curse him (or her) that curseth thee, and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed" ......the choice is yours to choose, and so too are the consequences that follow. amen

48. ARE WE STILL BLIND?
YOAV ,   TEL AVIV   (03.08.12)
YES IT WAS OUR FAULT, YES WE MADE A MISTAKE BY KILLING HER..DONE OVER, MOVE ON IT'S OK TO ADMIT FAULT....
49. #25 - "Stolen" land
Shmuel ,   Anaheim, CA, USA   (03.08.12)
The return of Jews in the modern era to their ancestral land, Eretz Israel, started in the late 19th century. The Jews BOUGHT lands from everyone that was willing to sell it to them and set up farms and cities on these lands. The Jewish National Fund became the largest land owner in pre-independence Israel. No land was "stolen" from anybody - both the Turks and the British were hostile to the returning Jews, so any land acquisition was by purchase. The UN partition plan was based on ownership - the Jewish parts of British Mandate Palestine would become the Jewish state, the Arab owned lands would become the Arab state. There were approximately 600,00 Jews in Palestine when Israel's War of Independence broke out, all of them living in communities on Jewish land. So much for "stolen" land; the conflict's history didn't start in 1948 and those who omit the pre-1948 events are left with a distorted, biased view. If that's what they are after, fine, but you show your ignorance.
50. Grow a brain, Jarda!
yesjb ,   Canada   (03.08.12)
What a total ignoramus. You spout the PLO/Hamas line with no inkling of truth or history. You talk of theft...talk about the Arabs stealing land. No arab in the west bank or gaza wanted their own "country until 1967. All they ever wanted to do was keep Jews out of Israel, just like you f'in' Euros want to exterminate them from Europe. For a country that was invaded by the Nazis whose modern heir is Islamism, you are so bloody dense as to be appalling!
51. # 32 - Better Idea
Kim   (03.08.12)
Why not accommodate them in Albuquerherque? Perhaps you would like to move our of your dwelling for a needy Israeli family....
52. 48.YOAV
Anna ,   Montreal, Canada   (03.08.12)
I am sorry to disagree with you. I am sure whoever was behind a wheel of that tractor didn't plan to kill her. So it couldn't be every Israeli/Jew fault for the wrong policies of their government. Here in Canada without any wars and life threatening conflicts people are too dying under the snow removal tractors. Each time when the tragedy happens everyone is raising their voices to improve visibility for the drivers. In the Rachel Corry's case it was her personal decision to place herself in a very dangerous situation. Could this tragedy being avoided I don't know. But , please, don't follow the trap in which Jews are responsible for all the wrongs of the world.
53. Disagree
Tom ,   Gainesville, FL, US   (03.08.12)
You are right - that picture would have been very potent and powerful. However, the article was not weak. It too was very powerful. For those who are still on the fence, or at least not cemented to their positions on the left, you cannot approach them with a sledge hammer, you have to gain entrance to the way they think as much as what they think. The article does an excellent job of that, with several very salient points. The paragraph about the tunnels under the houses being bulldozed - how many of these '"people of conscience" knew that? - and the Israeli Rachels (Zichronam le'Bracha) will speak to them as well as us.
54. her parents have chosen to repeat the lie.
rick ,   walnut creek   (03.08.12)
in their hearts, corrie's parents know that she should have remained in America. but they have allowed themselves to be swept in the lie that corrie was a decent person, a heroine, a martyr. they know it's all a lie. and, yet they collaborate in its propagation. they do this, in part, because it helps to assuage their guilt. they have joined corrie in the ancient hatred, the easy hatred, the hatred against the Jews.
55. She wore a burqa, burnt the US flag, martyred herself, normal
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.08.12)
people get out of the way of a bulldozer. The huge machine can't just stop instantaneously even if the driver can see the person in front, which he could not.
56. Darwain award, anyone?
pete ,   NYC   (03.08.12)
Pass the pancake syrup!
57. Good article
Maurice ,   Los Angeles, USA   (03.08.12)
Jews need to use propaganda just like the Arabs do. Hoping that people will figure out the truth is useless in today's world. Our job should be easier because we don't have to lie. We just don't do enough to spread the truth.
58. Crazy
ahmed ,   london   (03.09.12)
"Let’s hope that one day these Western peaceniks will ride on Israeli buses to experience the homicidal fear of terrorist attacks, or demonstrate on the streets of Haifa and Sderot, destroyed by rockets. Yet until that day comes, we can say that the human rights industry is rooted in the equality of humankind, with the exception of the Jews." I can't believe someone like you has a job.
59. Shame on you
Joseph Shoman ,   Geneve Switzerland   (03.09.12)
I guess it's pointless to say shame on you for some one who has no shame, If you dont see the crime in occupying other people's land and exterminate them, every thing else can be just OK
60. Fewer left loonies will now stand in front of bulldozers :)
