It has a much easier time "taxing" stuff that comes in through the smuggling tunnels, which it controls, than to do so with aid delivered to NGOs in broad daylight. So keeping Kerem Shalom may make it more difficult for Hamas to raise money at a time when its patrons have cut it off. That's also the reason why Hamas insists on smuggling fuel through tunnels instead of accepting it through KS.

Are you somehow under the impression that someone pays Israel for all that aid to Gaza? Guess again. Israel foots the bill in its entirety AND gives several million shekels to Gaza every month. You need to rethink your premise. There is no higher example of elevated morals than the fact that Israel trucks in hundreds of thousands of metric tons in free aid to Gaza each month. How many other countries would do that while over 11,000 missiles and 15,000 mortar shells have been fired at THEIR civilian populations?
