1. Smugglers
Paul ,   Jaffa   (03.19.12)
This article sniffs of propaganda & bad journalism at best. "A new study shows.." - what study? Ynet is a really inadequate news source. Why become a journalist if you just spout this unobjective twoddle - just join a govt ministry.
2. I'm sure the tunnel owners need pay percentage/fee to Hamas
(03.19.12)
They're probably taking direct orders for BMWs and Mercedes from Hamas....what's the point of opressing your own people and wringing them for all their worth for public sympathy ($$$ to the Hamas cause)...if you can't ride/eat/live in grand style....I mean, there's some shopping that can be brought back from Paris, but you can't really bring a Beamer as carry-on, y'know?
3. Remember aid trucks that Hamas hijacked then CHARGED Gazans
(03.19.12)
for it? They don't give a rat's arse about their own people -- human propaganda machine, human shields.....highly expendable and exploitable. If power corrupts, Hamas would be captioning picture.
4. So, What have They Done To Enrich Others?
emanon ,   USA   (03.19.12)
Has any of this money been used to establish a hospital? Better women's lives in Gaza maybe? No!!! All the money goes back into more munitions, weapons and killing Jews. Compare this to the philanthropy of any number of wealthy non-Arabs. Selfish people . . .
5. Hamas made sure to take their "cut"
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (03.19.12)
Hamas had absolutely no incentive to discourage the tunnel trade. Not only was it used as a conduit to smuggle weapons but they made sure to take a "cut" of the profits. The tunnel phenomenon does demonstrate that towns don't belong on a national border. Were Egyptian Rafa and Gaza Rafa separated by 10 km, there would be no tunnels to deal with. That's a warning to Israel not just in regard to Ghajar, which straddles the Lebanon/Israel border, but Jerusalem, which some foolishly think could straddle an Israel/Palestine border.
6. sounds like a good investment
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (03.19.12)
where can I invest my shekels? are these people listed on the gaza stock market?
7. #2 - there are millions and millions of $$$ in Gaza
William ,   Israel   (03.19.12)
Though it doesn't make sense, there is a ton of cash sloshing around in Gaza. Land prices have skyrocketed, especially next to the beach, investment from overseas and internally is rising, and many high-value goods are being brought into the Strip. There is no real blockade (of goods) nor any humanitarian situation there. Of course, Hamas, UNWRA, and Leftists like to show some people in poverty. Guess what - we have them in Israel, too!
8. Warsaw Ghetto had millionaire entrepreneurs also

9. Gaza's Tunnel Tycoons
ltrail ,   United States   (03.19.12)
The Gaza tunnels have created a new and lucrative business for some entrepreneurs; at the expense of the workers that created the tunnels. This is another phase of the so-called palestinians where the rich get richer, and the poor stay poor. So now there is a caste system created. Hamas just looks the other way because they are just as corrupt; but claim they fight in the name of freedom for the so-called palestinians. Lol.
10. more David Simon's "The Wire" than Ho Chi Minh Trail

13. Gutless barak could have destroyed each and every one.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.19.12)
NO rockets could be launched against Israel but NO, gutless wonders let anything come in.
14. #9 - Terrorist groups are also very lucrative
William ,   Israel   (03.19.12)
under the guise of "resistance" they make their leaders very powerful and VERY rich. Once you control an area, you control the flow of goods and licenses. And once you control the flow of money, you can take your cut anytime. Hamas largely directs attacks on Israel in order to maintain the blockade which allows its tunnel business and taxation policies to thrive.
15. This will Never by published in the USA
Baruch ,   San Antonio, TX: USA   (03.20.12)
That the Arab Spring is largely a rebellion against the corrupt governments of the region is too close to home for US audiences. Organizations like National Public Radio (NPR) and their Loudes Garcia-Navarro need to portray Palestinians as helpless, abused, infantile victims. That the West Bank and Gaza are the products of Palestinian Arab corruption is, well as they say "you can't handle the truth". I dare the American press to play this stuff, how would they be able to blame this on the Jews?
