I suppose he will be moving to Ofakim. That makes me wonder how the hell did they ever up with that name. Could it have been that two old Mapainiks were once walking thru the desert after having visited Ben Gurion at Sde Boker. Ben Gurion implored them to build the Negev. As they were leaving the confab, these two were discussing about another member of their party who happened to be not particulary well liked. As they were walking and talking, one of these old guys who happened to come from America, burped out in disgust 'Ofakim', at which point the other old Mapainik a polak from Warsaw got the idea on what to name the next town they were going to build in the Negev. Barak should go to Ofakim and we can all say 'Ofakim'.

The only thing that upsets people is that he belongs to a "workers" party which supposedly represents citizens who cant even come up with 1K shekels for a modest apartment. Moving to the the Assuta development is hardly a more modest home, but its a free country!!

Barak worked hard and was successful so why shouldn't he be allowed to live in a luxury apartment and have a political career without being condemned for it? Mit Romney is worth around $200 million but nobody criticises him for being so rich but he lives n the US where being rich is not treated like a crime. The problem in Israel amongst the left is being rich is seen as a crime of some sort and since last summers social justice protests things have only got worse through the creation of the image of the evil tycoon. I hope Barak is happy in his new home and congratulations on being so succsfull in business.

Years? People always talk badly about Barak so what if he was successful I have met far more dishonest Israelis. At least this man has served his country for 40+ years. For Israeli society to constantly crucify him and call him corrupt and self serving etc, truly disgraces the country's image. The rest of the world only have to listen to the Israeli mouths to draw a negative opinion on the defense minister and therefore make negative conclusions on the country's actions at defending itself too. To Barak he deserves whatever he earned privately or in the public sector - there's more then enough snakes acting immorally in the Israeli business world to point a stick at

This is good news for Barak. What would be good news for the country is if he would take his money, and leave the country altogether. That would be a real improvement for all of us.

It is well documented and reported that Barak was a paid "consultant" to the PA power authority just after the time he was Prime Minister. It is long suspected that he made these deals with Arafat and received compensations later, after his PM conclusion. Why was he paid by the PA power authority. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Barak knows how to make money off his "public" service. This is what makes everybody cynical about Israeli politics. Corruption.......

Where I live they are building a building (10 floors) already 4 years.

Barak's loan on this condo was 12 mill,so net prior to tax is 2.5 mill. Profit of 2.2 mill is free of tax.Only 300000 have to be taxed.

Barak earned his money fair and square because he was a shrewd businessman. The fact that 99% of Israelis will never have a fraction of what Barak has earned doesn't mean a thing. Just because the majority can't afford a 26.6 million Shekel apartment doesn't mean the rich minority like Barak are not entitled to one if they can afford it. We live in a free country with a free market economy where we are allowed to spend our money anway we please and liking Barak's as a politician doesn't give anybody the right to deny him wealth if its honestly earned ( there is no evidence it wasn't ) or the right to spend that wealth anyway he choses without public criticism. Barak got lucky so give him a break and let him enjoy his wealth.
