1. Jews, Pollaks, and Israel
Arnold ,   Canada   (03.19.12)
Approximately 500 years ago King Alexander of Poland opened the doors to Jews escaping from Spain. From that time up till the mid 1930's Poland's economy grew and flourished. The decimation of the Polish Jewry brought the decimation of the Polish economy. Over the last decade there has been a resurgence of trade between Israel and Poland. There is an increase in migration back to Poland. If this is too much for the Pollacks then screw them. Let them go down the tubes again.
2. What a surprise!!!!
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (03.19.12)
Antisemitism in Poland!!!!
3. Defiling Jewish cemetary????
tiki ,   belgium   (03.19.12)
That's why in the Netherlands they opened up an internet site where people can put their complaints of Poles defiling Holland. It's booming with complaints telling the drunk, violent & defiling Poles, they are in Holland, not in Poland!
4. Just like Israelis do in Israel in Jewish cemeteries

5. to 1: You need to review economic history
Justine   (03.20.12)
Polish economy was in decline since the second half of the XVIIth century. In the 30s it was very bad, consequence of WWI and depression. Moreover, you're confusing causes and effects. I don't doubt that Jews contribute to economic growth, but the direction of causality was probably the opposite - it's because Poland was already growing that the rulers were more likely to accept immigration (not only Jews, there were a lot of German settlers as well). Jews do not cause economic miracles out of nothing. And the amount of trade between Poland and Israel now, however welcome, does not influence much the overall economic situation in Poland.
6. while this is an obviously criminal act
Marek ,   Lodz, Poland   (03.20.12)
while this is an obviously criminal act that should be condemned, YNet continues to flatten the picture of Poland and Polish Jews to two topics: Holocaust and antisemitism. Just yesterday the new Days of Jewish Culture called "Adlojada" (עד דלא ידע) started in Szczecin with many concerts and lectures. And this pattern repeats itself so often...
7. Antisemitism in Poland
dawRid ,   Warsaw, Poland   (03.20.12)
has been in steady decline for some time already. While such rare criminal acts will inevitably happen there is no need to insult and blame the rest of the people. It's rather hign time to appreciate positive developments taking place here as they make Poland one of the most pro-Israeli societies in Europe.

First, you idiot, there was no Polish king with the name of Alexander. Second, Poland was a super power in Europe from XIV century where you could hardly find a Jew in the Kingdom 'till 1683 when they defeated the Ottoman Empire in Vienna and started deteriorating proportionally to influx and influence of Jews, until it's partition by neighboring countries in 1772, welcomed by them,... BTW, Polish economy is fine despite the crisis in EU and despite that there are almost no Jews in Poland. Over 90 % of the Jews in Poland were the same Orthodox Jews you can find in Israel today that don't serve and mostly on welfare,...

"pollack" is a derogatory slur used to refer to Poles - Do you like to be called a kike ? ,...
10. Reaction to the incident in Poland
Pawel ,   Leuven, Belgium   (03.20.12)
I think that's a shame that ynet did not mention the outrage that such incidents cause in Poland. Unfortunately, anti-Semitism is still present in Poland but it is practised by the minority, probably just like anti-Slavism in Israel, and don't get me wrong, I don't say it as an excuse. Polish media mentioned that the Police believe that those people who profaned the cemetery, are the same ones who also sprayed signs with names in Lithuanian in north-eastern Poland. Swastikas cause at least as much outrage among Poles as they do among Jews. Such crimes are taken very seriously by the police, because of racism, propagation of Nazism and profanation of sacred places. A great majority of Poles are against all that.

12. There are almost no Jews in Poland!
Reuven   (03.21.12)
Anti-Semitism is strong, even without Jews! That's sickening!
13. 12 - Anti-Semitism is strong, even without Jews!
snag ,   USA   (03.22.12)
But the experience and memory of co-existance is still there.
14. PS. 12 .
snag ,   usa   (03.22.12)
Over 90 % of Jews in pre-war Poland were the orthodox, over 70% of them couldn't communicate in native spoken language and 90% write, how do they fit with the rest of population you can check today in Israel.

Glad to hear your positive take. The Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C. periodically has programs of interest for Holocaust survivors & 2G's. I've tried to figure whether it was to promote tourism in Poland (which they do) or whether there is an actual appreciation for Jewish culture and what was lost. Both my parents are survivors from Lodz.
16. Vandalized Cemetery
Steve B ,   Ohio USA   (04.28.14)
Leave it to some Polish people to vandalize unguarded graves in support of the Nazis who killed 4 million Polish Christians during WWII.
