I agree that I'd prefer to have my country anywhere else I the world than here, surrounded by genocidal and primitive people, but this can't happen. Israel is our ancestors land and we are destined to live here, and defend ourselves. This article appeared before her agency engaged in a belated spin effort. Had she or her agency really meant it, they could have dispelled the rumours much earlier. Those rumours were put about by sources who heard her tirade and had an interest in spreading that sort of sentiment - ie Palestinians and their allies. Her silence indicates that she was not opposed to that message. She knew full well that once it got into the media, her Arab friends would be satisfied. All she had to do was keep quiet until it spread. When the backlash came, she then issued a mealy-mouth correction that the arab press would anyway ignore. The winner? She. However, I think many have missed the point. By seeking to include this massacre with other tragedies, she sought to minimise it. This would only come from someone who was reluctant to even mention it at all. The misreporting of her comments definitely did correctly portray her sick and twisted attitude.

Sorry I don't fancy joining in the gleeful Ashton/Europe-bashing here. Have any of you actually read what she said? She noted a number of places around the world where childrens lives have been affected by fighting, among them SDEROT and Gaza. She did not draw any equivalence between any of the examples she gave. How this equates to anti-semitism quite escapes me. Seems to me that we should focus on real antisemitism wherever it exists, and stop foaming at the mouth whenever any outsider has the temerity not to be 150% "on our side".
