1. I thought he was smarter
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (03.20.12)
I thought Lavrov was smarter than that. The Arabs living in Israel are for the most part Sunnis and support Iran's archenemy the Saudis. PLO supported Saddam in the Iran-Iraq war. Iran will have no problem killing these people
2. russia- patron saint of tyrants
ej ,   tlv   (03.20.12)
disgraceful! when they talk about 'third world countries" they should be honest and say "third world tyrants and dictatorships," which the Russians and Chinese sheild from criticism so that they can continue murdering their own people and threatening to destroy neighboring countries.
3. "A strike on Israel would also destroy Palestine"
William ,   Israel   (03.20.12)
Well, first - Iran believes Israel is illegitimate and is part of Palestine... and second, Arabs have been sacrificing "Palestinians" for decades in their war against Israel and the Jews. Since when did they care about killing a bunch of Arabs in their quest to destroy Jews? To them - it's an Occupational Hazard. Saddam lobbed rockets on Tel Aviv at the rick of falling short on the West bank. Nasrallah fired rockets into Israel and kept hitting Israeli Arab villages. "Palestinians" launched terror attacks that ended up killing each other - whether through rocks thrown at cars, suicide bombers blowing up Arabs waiting for the bus, or Qassams that fall short. To most Arabs, it wouldn't matter if they wiped out the majority of "Palestinians" as long as they destroyed Israel, and "claimed Palestine". Never under-estimate the depravity of Islamists.
4. prepare
Zivron   (03.20.12)
Prepare in fifty years for all nations even the Congo to have nuclear capabities and for the Jews and righteous gentiles the second wave of surviivalism Meanwhile a continued pressure on Iran to reconize the Jewish State and the one nation for two peoples as the future dream .
5. Lavrov..Seen from a Palestinian perspective..
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (03.20.12)
Ask how many Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza and the diaspora believe Ahmadinejad or Nasrallah to be our spokesperson or champions of our cause? NONE Ask if we believe that all they are tyring to do is USE Palestinian BLOOD to further their own agenda ALL Through their feeding the greed of Hamas Mashaal and others they have tried to take control and DICTATE TO US how we should live, who we should talk to and ABOVE ALL how we should determine our future These blood soaked criminals in Teheran - would if it suited them kill Palestinains at a whim - so long as they were able to pursue their aims of destroying Israel - Jews Muslims Christians AND ALL. And WORST the destruction of Al Aksa. Lavrov...Ahmadinejads lunatic ravings against Israel the US and the Arab World may be one thing...but DONT BE FOOLED by their supposed flying the flag of Palestine. They COULDNT CARE LESS. AND NIETHER DO WE
6. Lavarov on Iran
Shia Mendel ,   Toronto Canada   (03.20.12)
Lavarov states "...a threat to destroy Israel will also destroy Palestine,". I must have missed something...I am not aware of any place in the world called Palestine. Is Lavarov trying to invent a new state ?
7. Attack on Israel would also destroy 'Palestine'
Chatich   (03.20.12)
No problem, the valiant and heroic shiite entity is perfectly willing to fight Israel down to the very last 'palestinian'. Lebanese too...

9. Iran Cares About "Palestinians"?
Dallas ,   Canada   (03.21.12)
About as much as Jordan did during Black September. Not a relevant part of any decision regarding what to do with Iran.
10. PRO "Palestine" is not for "Palestine", it is ANTI ISRAEL.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (03.21.12)
11. They wouldn't wish to harm other Muslims
Aussie Michael ,   Sydney, Australia   (03.21.12)
Yes in the Middle East there is always great sensitivity shown by Muslims towards other Muslims. We see examples of this compassion every day in Syria, Iran, Morocco, Libya, Yemen and so on.

14. Lavrov failed comparison: Korea vs Iran
Joe ,   Canada   (03.21.12)
Lavrov in trying to justify his stance that nothing is to fear from Iran by comparing it to the case of North Korea is only showing his lack of understanding or more probably his intellectual dishonesty. The North Korean regime has no ideology & no expansionary objectives. Its only program is survival by threats in exchange from the West for dearly needed food & foreign currency . It has no oil ressources & no way to disturb oil shipping. So, it is not a prime worry for the Western countries & their economies. Keeping North Korea as isolated as possible & preventing it from selling its nuclear & missile technology to Iran are the objectives of the West. None of this applies to Iran whose leadership is driven by fanatical religious & political designs. It is a country which aims at expanding its hegemony, first by supporting world wide terrorist groups & getting itself involved in covert terror until the day it hopes to be strong enough to be able to do it openly. That Russia should support countries of the type of Iran & Syria is telling it all about Moscow values.
15. Weak arguments, Lavrov
Dave ,   USA   (03.21.12)
The foreign secretary of the Russian Republic is selling us old merchandise. Iranians could care less about Palestine and if Palestine vanishes along with Israel, no big deal! As long as it suits the Teheran Mullahs crazy religious dreams. Israel, beware! Teheran today is Berlin in 1944
16. Palestine is a political football that Arabs,TurkeyI, Iran
PETER SM ,   AUSTRALIA   (03.21.12)
etc kick along to score points in their race to dominate the Arab/Moslem world. Resolving the issue is not in their interest, keeping it on the boil is. Heroic rhetoric & posturing is all part of the game.
17. Palestinians are
daniela ,   panama   (03.21.12)
for their arab brothers, what futball is for Latin American countries and Circus was for Rome. A way of distraction governments use to make the masses forget about their internal problems. It worked in the last 60 years, but unfortunately the arab spring is showing us that people in arab countries will not accept distractions any more. That´s why Palestinians are being irrelevant today, and Iran will not differentiate between israeli jews or israeli arabs if they decide to attack Israel, as it happened when Hezbollah attacked Israel
18. haha he actually thinks ahmadinejad cares about palestinians
valentina ,   Israel   (03.21.12)
He couldn't care less about them! Everytime he threatens to wipe Israel off the map, I'm sure he's not talking about his nuclear weapons so advanced that can differentiate between Jews and Arabs. To him, Palestinians are the closest people to us which he can influence and will fight us. They have common goals and it's in his interests to pretend he cares. But if it came down to killing us all or not just to save the palis, i'm sure he'd just get rid of us all in a heartbeat, and i highly doubt that he'd offer refuge to the palestinians first. Too bad they can't see that he's using them. We saw the same thing happen in Lebanon. Many suffered because Ahmadinejad's Hezbollah was doing his dirty work.
19. Sadaam supported Pals: still bombed Israel
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (03.21.12)
Israeli arabs were killed by sadaams scud missile attacks: the idea that iran will not behave the same way is nonsense. Russia simply does not want yet another of its allies to be humiliated militarily by the US and the West. To be sure: neither the US and her allies or Israel would rest their hopes on some bombing runs: quite obviously (US/West troop withdrawal from Iraq) it would definitely involve a ground invasion to one extent or another; and it would aim to topple the entire regime from top to bottom as was done in iraq. Russia is well aware of this and is probably attempting to dissuade the Allies from another crushing blow to Russia's crumbled nations of friends. Too late for that: Iran will go down, completely, militarily, scientifically and with its infrastructure. Enough to the point that the West will dictate terms until a time when Iran would be considered 'civil.' Its about time Persia became civil: its been crushed by islam and fanaticism for too long.
20. Sammy: #5: You betrayed something about yourself
EZRA THE PROUD JEW ,   USA-ISRAEL   (03.21.12)
You spoke of the deaths of arabs, Jews, Christians...but at the end, you said: WORST: the destruction of al-aqsa. Hmm.. Apparently you feel that stupid, worthless building whom the arabs themselves turn their backsides to in prayer, is worth MORE than the lives of arabs, Christians and Jews? So damn sad. Freudian slips are far too often the betrayer of one's core. You also spoke about other palestinians NOT 'speaking' for you and your people. Well...who is then, because if its the people themselves, they've made themselves VERY clear. I cite every and all terrorist acts committed by palestinian civilians against Jews, Christians, foreigners, etc: up until very recently. We don't buy your story Sammy: its completely baseless and silly. Sorry. Maybe one day you'll actually find the civility within yourself to be more honest, regardless of what you believe or interpret to be 'good.' In the meantime: spare us the dribble.
21. Putin has to be taken out one way or another....
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.21.12)
22. Russian foreign policy undermines nuclearanti proliferation
(03.21.12)
Russian comments by Lavarov in regard to Nth Korea do not apply. Nth Korea has an impoverished starving people unused to freedom of thought and no money or oil to speak of. All it can sell is military and nuclear technology. Iran however has vast oil resorces and money and the oeople are prevented from overthrowing their unpopular government by brutal repression. Most of all iran is looking to strategically change the political and Islamic landscape and exports terror throughout the middle east and the world and threatens its neighbours political establishments towards its ideology by imposition. Nth Korea and Iran bear no similarity and Lavarovs naïve view will only worsen the middle east order and world peace. 3rd world tin pot dictatrships don't have the resources or know how to acquire nuclear capability. Russia is undermining nuclear anti proliferation principles.
23. Whom do you think You can Fool - ? -
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (03.21.12)

24. Better high explosive
Clary John   (03.21.12)
Better high explosive now than nuclear warheads later. One can live with the former, but the land will be contaminated after the latter. Nip the Ayatollahs in the bud !
25. Agree on some points.
Daniel ,   Tracy USA   (03.21.12)
while I agree there is no way to totally remove the nuclear program with a preemptive military strike it would add time to the equation which Israel and others do not have at the moment. It gives more time for sanctions to work, and also drives home the point that you can't thumb your nose at the world and play games and expect to get away with it. The last thing you want to do is continue with the stalling and political games where in the end you wind up with another North Korea. This would pave the way for others to follow suite. Yes you get sanctioned to death and yeah it is tough for a bit but gee at the end you have the bomb. Precession strikes against nuclear facilities might or might not galvanize the Iranian people with their leadership. If they can't show mass deaths of women and children I think any up roar would be short lived. Also there are a lot of people who are not happy with the current government so this might aid in tipping for regime change. In order to do that you would need to target military assets as well as nuclear. It can b done but it is a tall order no matter what military you are.
